Do not scan or copy

I'm on my HP Photosmart printer second in three weeks and I still do not have a working machine. My first printer turns on only if I removed the plug from the back and replaced it. The replacement I have not scan or copy. HP do not seem to be bothered that their product is of poor quality as their customer service is even worse. Expect them me ca them at my expense and then when you send it a new machine, I have to wait in all day for a courier to bring a new machine and then wait all day for a collection of the former. Then a 'new' does not work so I have to repeat this process in my time and expenses. HP thinks that they are doing me a favor.

Just got a call from HP customer service. After their systematic excuses, they throw HPSpeak at me as 'under the general terms"and"We appreciate your disappointment with your experience of HP. " No, they don't. They talk about me and are in a hurry to get rid of me. They couldn't care less when I tell them corresponding companies fall over themselves to give good customer service after their product has failed. I can only assume that they get so many complaints that they are immune to the feedback.

    You can try to perform a hard reset on the printer. Unplug the power cord at the back of the printer. Leave for 30 seconds and plug it back.

    You can also clean the print head because it can read the contacts on the new cartridge wrong.

    Hello Citimba,

    On the main screen on the printer, press return, cancel, back, back button successively. You see Help menu, press the ok button, then use top / down arrow button to find the menu reset, reset complete semi selection and press the ok button.

    It's troubleshooting last step which I recommend. If this does not solve your problem unfortunately you will need to replace the printer.

  • OfficeJet Pro 8600 not scan or copy

    It is a 8600 almost new bought Pro last month.  To install, all functions perfectly worked and since the purchase, the printer ran less than a dozen pages of combined print and copy.

    This morning, I tried to copy a simple document and produced printed page was border - black, verticle, lines the length of the page.  In case of problem, I tried to scan a document to my computer with the same results.  I searched the web as a whole and this forum and have is went through each techinque troubleshooting I could find, including, resets hard, turned off for a period of time, try the different points of sale, double check the software version & the downloadable HP... diagnostic tool which none was successful.

    Common functions of printing not work normally either wireless or connected device.  Any function however, requiring the scanner lamp does NOT work and it seems to me the scanner bulb does not work.  I might mention that a call to HP support was pretty much a wasted effort, the 'tech' had a very thick accent and was almost impossible to understand and who have trouble grasping the question seemed.

    Additional troubleshooting suggestions would be welcome.  I bought the unit at Best Buy and I suspect that they exchanged it because it was so recent, but I am currently unable to walk and Exchange would be more than a little awkward.  I'd rather solve the problem if possible.  Thank you.

    To put closure on the original post, I finally determined that the problem has been a hardware failure after exhausting all troubleshooting techniques. I went to Best Buy, where I bought a month ago and they happily exchanged it. Set up replacement and initially at least, flawless.

    When I put the page I want to scan / photocopy to the screen (yes I put it the right way), print out shaded black.  The scanner moves on the screen, but the 'light' scanner doesn't work, then it is not bright enough or have enough light to read the page to read the page.

    Is this a defective material or is there a driver that could fix?  He has worked in the past, but I didn't use it recently.

    I had it before on a hp 2450, the store gave me a new (after a few weeks of waiting).

    In the next few days I'll bring the urge to go back and see what happens.

    But now it's really a bad time without a scanner (I'm home due to a blow on my back and I need to scan to send some infomation to work).

  • HP all in one c4180 "unable to scan or copy.

    Using Windows 7 and my HP C4180 not scan or copy and comes up with the message "unable to scan or copy.  This "all in one" used to work on my old computers using Vista and XP but will not now work on any of them.  (Also my very old OfficeJet G85 has also stopped working with a similar message from the scanner does not).  I downloaded from online new drivers for windows 7, but I still get the same message.  I tried uninstalling and reinstalling but still not good.  Someone out there who can help please?

    In general, this error is associated with failure to scan. Scanner failure is a hardware problem and the printer will need maintenance.

    I suggest all initially following the article a 'Scanner failure' message on the all-in-one control panel and you can not scan, copy or fax .

  • C410a - problems with scanning and copying

    Recently bought a new computer (Windows 7 64-bit).  The old computer had the c410a Photosmart all-in-one installed and works without any problem.  PCMover to transfer files from the old computer to the new.  Had some problems at the beginning, but downloaded the drivers for the c410a and could do print from the computer.  However, it does not scan or copy.  I've uninstalled and reinstalled the software several times to drive and keep it for the same problem.

    If I try to scan or copy of the printer, I get an error message saying that I should try to scan/copy of the computer instead.  When I try to use the HP Solution Center, I get an error message that says: Hpqdirec.exe - system error - "the program can't start because libexpatw.dll is missing on your computer.  Try reinstalling the program to fix this program. "Then a second message appears that says Configuration ASF Broadcom -"system is busy and can not initialize.  Try again later. "As I said, I tried to reinstall the software that came with the printer several times and still get the same error messages.

    So, what don't get me?

    Well, I think that I thought about it.  When I reinstalled the software, I assumed that all software has been reinstalled.  But apparently, only the drivers were installed and not the HP Solution Center software.  Is returned on the disc, saw a button for installing additional software, and then installed the Solution Center and that seems to have solved the problem.

    After that I moved into a new apartment my 5530 desire is not scanning or copying (but I can print wireless without problem).

    I have already tried:

    -install the updated drivers

    -perform the reset

    -activate the static IP address

    -newtork reset through the HP utility.

    Please try the steps below...

    1. While the printer turned on, unplug the power cord from the back of the printer.
    2. Wait 60 seconds.
    3. Plug the power cord printer directly to a wall jack (bypass surge / power strip) and then to the printer.
    4. Now, make a copy.
    5. If the problem persists, select SETUP (wrench) > tools > Restore Factory Defaults
    6. Wait 30 seconds and then try to make a COPY.
    7. If the problem persists, open the lid of the scanner, and then press black COPY. Check if the scan transport moves and it's on.
    8. Transport scan is not turned on or move in all, then its time to replace the printer.

    Last problem with the L7580: this machine will scan but not print or copy.  All four color cartridges are good, remaining.  He machine is not used as often as it should be, but copied and printed a few weeks ago.  Any suggestions?  Thanks for any help.

    You have the OCR program installed?

    In the digitization, if you have the disc that came with the printer, and then insert the floppy disk to the printer and keep it from running. Go to my computer and double-click it. Locate the drive that contains the disk Dell inside. Right-click on it, left click Explore. Find the folder of the OCR. In the OCR folder, there is a folder of Abbyy. Right click on setup.exe, which is located in the folder Abbyy and left, click Run as administrator. This will install the OCR program.

  • HP 6600 - loud pop on Cart 4 times on power. do not scan, fax or copy the message

    I removed print completely, powered carts and save again, it appears that something is broken and gives me the message that it is unable to scan, copy or fax.

    I can send something to print on the printer and it works perfectly fine.

    It's definitely a hardware problem. This hardware problem may be a broken internal part, or it may be caused by a lack of programming on your product. To determine if the programming is the cause and if we are able to solve this problem, I will send you a private Message with instructions on how to perform a reset of programming full semi on your printer. Once the reset is complete I'll you test the scan or copy the function to see if everything is working properly.
