You can try this alternative solution to Scan:
HP extended Scan
Once it has downloaded and installed, go to start > all programs > HP > HP Scan extended > Run "HP Scan extended.

Our newly purchased Officejet 6500 all-in-One is the production pages with thin black lines down the page about 2/3 of the way through the page (right side of page). Is there a solution to this problem?
This was only happening with ADF. After several cleanings with no changes, I found this forum. After reading the plug on the glass, I went back and really clean the glass. This has allowed the problem. Thanks for the forum.
My HP Officejet 6500 all-in-in-one wireless suddenly stopped printing black, even if I have a lot of ink. It prints all other colors. When I try to check the ink levels it tells me that this printer is not available, try again later. I have a lot of ink. Have restarted printer and Mac Book Pro. Driver is up-to-date. Any thoughts?
Reset the printer. Turn the power off and then hold the # and 6 keys during and shortly after turning it on.

I tried to 'day' the pilot on my all-in-one e710n-z printer 6500, and now I have no printer to work at all. Installation stops at about 80% complete giving the error: Network Installation fails. I followed all the procedures including online uninstall them, winsock reset, reinstall, install HP utility failure, disabled anti-anti-virus/firewall... nothing works. My printer is detected by the computer and he "wants" install, but nothing works! Wi - fi is on, and the only thing that I miss is the driver. What is the secret of installing the HP online support site? With the help of Windows OS 8.1. Thanks for any help!
Thank you so much for offering to help... This has been a very frustrating experience where I felt like I more, more was wrong. It turns out that I solved the problem myself with a lot of trial and error and perseverance. The location of the printer and our computers would not have allowed practical USB or ethernet connection tests.
The computer has been grateful to the printer, but few of the functions of the printer did not work. I kept getting notices that I need to be connected to Internet... and yet I was. Instead, I followed every remedies proposed, and finally met and installed the HP Print & Scan Dr. The full program would not even install, but I did use uninstall and reinstall the feature on the Dr. P & S and I noticed several MB difference between program he installed and which had been installed until then.
The error kept showing a network connection problem, but I had already restarted the router several times. When I got to the printer, I had loaded it a stable and permanent address through the router, so every time I "uninstalled and reinstalled then" software, it always by default the preset number on the router... that has been a blessing! Finally, I got on the Web site of the real, connected and re-configured router the network connection on the printer using the PIN # that was generated (the WPS buttons had failed earlier) However, it happened, the resumed printer connected and I was able to print a test page. All is well again.
I want to thank Bob Headrick for his suggestion to soak the print head in warm water for 10 minutes. It was a fantastic idea. It does not solve the problem with my printer.

I thought I could install my new Officejet 6500 as a printer network during the weekend, but apparently, HP had a different opinion...
I use a netbook for my work as I travel a lot. Unfortunately, the screen resolution max available for these computers to wide screen is "limited" to 1024 x 576, which is less than the minimum required by the installation software (800 x 600), so I can't just install drivers and software. I tried to download the drivers from the HP support site, but ran into the same problem again.
I'd appreciate any help I don't have a desktop or a laptop with a ratio of the 'normal' view and I'm stuck with a machine that is "useless"...

Yes. When you get to the window system requirements check, click the button cancel while now the keys Ctrl + Shift. It will bypass the sys. Req. check and continue with the installation. You may need to do this several times for the installation to continue.
I can print a worddoc in portrait & landscape very well. I can print a worksheet excel in portrait mode, but when I put it in landscape mode, it will print only one or two inches on the left side & is not in landscape format at all. I unintalled and reinstalled my software updates & printing. What can I do to fix this?

I am trying to print Avery 5160 using Ms Excel and merge and mailing address labels in MS Word. Data print incorrectly on the labels. Tops are too low and one on the bottom are too high. Help, please

I would recommend to change the quality of 'Best' when you try to print your labels. Best mode will pull the slower paper and sometimes will help properly align the labels.
If this does not help, thanks for posting this concern in the Avery Help Center for better exposure on the issue with printing on Avery labels.
Pictures come out greasy. I use HP Glossy, 200 g/m², paper photo 53 lb and best quality setting. they print paper thin onplain.

I can print from my HP Officejet 6500 All - in - One-E709a, but I can't scan, copy or fax. All drivers and updates are underway; No recent updates have been made before the problems that occur. I use Windows 7 64-bit. When the printer is turned on, it still shows Original charge, but no documents are in the charger or on the glass (I already cleaned the glass and have ensured that the lid is tightly). I have problems to scan, copy and fax. The automatic document feeder works. I tried to reset the printer several times.
When I try to scan a document into the document feeder (it feeds through) or from the glass, I get varying answers - rarely, he asked well how I save/handle the doc (e.g., save them in pdf format), but the document does not actually scan and I'm headed to reload the document OR it displays no.
