The system works fine, no freezes or crashes, but I would like to know what is the cause, is it hardware or driver related?

Hello

Thank you for contacting Microsoft Community.
Since you don't face any problem while working, the system works very well. The error in the log occurred due to the error of the driver in this case. But immediately, Windows is taking measures to restore the driver, so that the system works very well. The journal entry is just a notification. During the scan, the higher the use of the disc, so the number of failures is likely to increase. It occurs even in situations where there is a transfer of files.

And this page explains what you have:
    http://msdn.Microsoft.com/en-us/library/Windows/Hardware/ff559211 (v = vs. 85) .aspx >
(Short version of an argument 9 d: "0xC000009D or STATUS_DEVICE_NOT_CONNECTED, indicates defective wiring or in bulk, termination or that the controller does not see the hard drive.")

It seems to intimate that it's a hardware problem rather than a driver. You say that you are having problems with the optical drive. If you log out, you still have problems to restart or boot?

This probably isn't a memory problem, but a better method of verification, it is with Memtest86 + http://www.memtest.org/#downiso>
Download the ISO and then create a CD with it and boot from it. If you have more than one piece of RAM, pull all but one test, then close, replace it with another and test, etc. I find it a little faster than the test at a time.

  • The event log shows event 11 atapi: the driver has detected an error in the controller on \Device\Ide\IdePort1

Intermittent crashes. The event log shows event 11 atapi: the driver has detected an error in the controller on \Device\Ide\IdePort1. How can I find this device? This is probably a hardware problem?

I look at intermittent crashes, where my cursor becomes an hourglass and the system does not yet meet the ctrl-alt-delete.  In the case of a newspaper, I find

Event 11 atapi: the driver has detected an error in the controller on \Device\Ide\IdePort1.

How can I determine which physical devices this is associated?  This indicates a hardware problem, or driver or firmware may be the source? The system has worked very well for a few years.  I'm not aware of any change in software that took place recently, although I have had by force, remove and reinstall iTunes earlier.

I run SMART on all players controls and run diagnostics.  I ran chkdsk on the one I found the culprit, but not mistakes.

Just in case it was a deadlock linked to memory, I tried to use the Diagnostics memory Microsoft on floppy, but it would not write on the disk (even if I could format and copy the files freely).

    Hello

Go to your configuration and see which drive is for each port; 1,2,3,4...

Then go to the Device Manager and look at how many SATA controller you have and how many ports for each, then start count from 0 to IdePort0, 1, 2, etc. for each SATA controller, so if you have 4 ports for each SATA controller, here is how you came from:

    IdePort0 1 -, 2 - IdePort1, 3 car - IdePort2 and road 4 - IdePort3 in the order of road by car

    I hope it helps

  • The driver has detected an error of the Comptroller on \Device\Ide\IdePort3

    Hello

I'll try to explain my problem as best as possible in chronological order then please bear with me.

    I have Windows 7 x 64.
So last week my PC have been freezing every two days. Sometimes every day. Black screen during the games, navigation or doing any activity. Each window has frozen, the screen went black. ctrl alt del did not work no response to any entry, the only option was to restart.

Once restarted, the system would freeze again almost immediately, and again after another reboot. Only solution was physically turn off the computer, turn off the power and wait.  After some time (5-10 min) I turn the power on and system worked very well.

I went to the observer of events and found "the pilot detected an error of the Comptroller on \Device\Ide\IdePort3." It took place in a series starting with a per minute, then after a few minutes, two or three that occur within one minute, the frequency of this error would be gradually go back even to 10 per minute and that's where the system would freeze.

Looking at the event viewer I thought, hold for a second I have 3 discs (Disk0 - new SSD, Disk1 - new HDD, Disk2 - old HDD) so maybe that ideport3 refers to the CDROM which I disconnected but the error has not disappeared.

Check the BIOS settings and deleted everything that had no boot from the internal storage (so: floppy USB - disk, CDROM,)-which did not help either.

In the Act of desperation, I unplugged my old disk (Disk2) for 6 days I have not known of IdePort3 errors and system will work very well.

After 6 days, to my embarrassment, error returned.
This is the story of the appearance of the error:

I bought the card mother-GA-Z68X-UD3-B3 3 years ago. There can be no IDE ports. It has 6 SATA ports.

Here an explanation somewhat losely formulated to work on the port that could be the culprit. Since you have 6 SATA ports, why not play the game of elimination with them?

  • Windows crashes every 10 minutes for abt 30 sec / 2 min with «the pilot detected an error on \Device\Ide\IdePort0 controller»

History/context: This problem started happening on my Dell Vostro 220, while he was new (May 09), on Windows Vista that it came preloaded with. I figured a SATA controller and a defective Dell replaced both my HD (& SATA cables) and Mobo. But ongoing problem - then Dell suggested to set access drive in AHCI mode in the BIOS. I did and in HD and installed also XP. Problem persisted. XP errors in the journal system came as '\Device\Ide' and '\Device\Hd0' sometimes sometimes. Reference Dell insists that it is a driver problem Windows. Since then, I still formatted hav clean and installed with Windows 7, what I use now. But the problem persisted.

    System:
Dell Vostro 220 with Intel Core 2 Duo E7400 @ 2.8 Ghz, 4 GB of RAM (3 GB usable), running Windows 7 Professional 32 bit. 1 x DVD Writer TSST Corp TS - H653F ATA hard drive WDC WD2500AAJS - 75M0A0 ATA

    Symptoms:
On bad days, it happens every 5-10 minutes; other times 30 min. Locks up system / freezes during 30 sec to 2 min during which I am able to move the mouse cursor, but do not click on anything anyone or do anything else. When Frost "thaws" if I check the Logs of error in the system log I still see the "EventID:11" error "Source: atapi ' 'driver has detected an error on \Device\Ide\IdePort0 controller. Sometimes (not always) I also see a spike in the graph of CPU use if I check right after the "thaw", but I was not able to determine what process as I am looking after the fact. Normally, there are 4 SATA Ports on the motherboard. 0.1 were used for HD, DVD. If I unhook the DVD drive altogether and connect the HD SATA cable to the port marked 2, I get the same errors, but "\Device\Ide\IdePort0" becomes "\Device\Ide\IDePort1".

Other note (s): During the installation of the OS, Dell has a "Intel Matrix Storage" listed as critical on their site, but when I try to install it, it says "no compatible hardware not detected" and install exists.

Also, interestingly, if I take the HD (in blue) to the total of SATA cable and try to connect SATA cable from the DVD recorder to the orange (originally) between individual ports Mobo and HD, I get a mobo error - flashing 3 light and "beep" as soon as I turn on. It disappears if I go back to blue SATA cable from the Hd for HD

    Hello

As you have informed us that you are always faced with the question after installing Windows XP and Windows 7.

I suspect that the problem is somewhere in the material or the SATA ports on the motherboard. I suggest you to contact the manufacturer of your computer for help, because they will be in a better position to help you.

Hope the helps of information. Please post back and we do know.

Anyone any idea what is the cause?

I replaced all the cables and hard drive but I get the same error (wasted money).

When you start the PC and get "PIO MODE" in computer/manage/Device Manager / IDE ATAPI controllers ADA / ATA Chanel X/properties/Advanced is the cause, your PC is frozen.

My "temporal" solution for this problem is:

1 - Turn off the PC.

2 - pick Up and the hard drive cable through the same port of the motherboard

    3. start the PC and the control in the advanced settings box-> "Ultra DMA Mode 6"; right now, you can work without problems.

    * If you can trade your motherboard (all under warranty) DO!

-. - We are all waiting FOR you than get Microsoft a solution to force the departure to the top of "PIO MODE" to "ULTRA DMA 6"

  • Event ID 11: the driver has detected an error in the controller on \Device\Harddisk2\DR11.

My event log is loaded with these on a system just to receive Dell 15-Sep and I don't know why.

Do not ask questions - yet.

I would like to know how to solve this, please. Thank you!

In almost all cases, these messages are due to hardware problems. The source can be the controller or (more probably) a (drive 2) device that is connected to the controller. The problem of equipment may be termination rate settings, bad wiring or incorrect transfer, a defective unit, or in rare cases, a bad device driver written.

    Run the troubleshooter.

  • T500 w Vista hangs light w HDD and event log error iastor with ID 9 (Device\Ide\iaStor0)

    Summary

Edited: This problem was finally resolved by Intel Matrix Storage Manager driver 8.6.3 sent by Lenovo, January 13, 2009

It is an intermittent problem on 500/T400 with XP or Vista 32.

Vista 32: the HARD drive light stays on for several minutes, sometimes never goes. The machine crashes immediately, or it may continue to work for a while sometimes sluggish performance w. In all cases the operating system stops not completely so that the HARD drive light is forcing a hard stop with the keyboard, button on / off.

    XP: random BSOD of iastor.sys.

In the log window of the events is an event of error each time passed than the HDD light grip. Source is iastor, Id is 9, and the text is "the device, \Device\Ide\iaStor0, did not in the expiration time. See below for a description of how show all events iastor error 9 in your event log.

The problem has appeared since the second or third week of December. The likely source is an update of the Intel Matrix Storage Manager, driver version 8.6.0 delivered on 4 December.

This driver has been after December 4, distributed via Thinkvantage System Update. T400/500 made in December were also shipped with this driver installed. Since then, lenovo has withdrawn the driver, drivers, T400 and page software here and the T500 here page now shows the driver for Vista 32 and XP as version 8.2.4.

The experience is that this problem is solved in the restaurant or by installing the 8.2.4 version of the Intel Matrix Storage Manager driver. If the 8.6.0 driver was installed through system update, go to Device Manager and open the Intel(r) ICH9M-E/M SATA AHCI Controller. On the driver tab, make sure that 8.6.0 is installed, and then click the roll back button.

If the T400/500 has been shipped with the 8.6.0 driver installed, first driver to download the 8.2.4 and run the extract in the c:\drivers folder. Update driver then choose Device Manager. On the second screen appearing to ensure you choose "Let Me pick from a list of drivers on the computer' - in the case otherwise, he will tell you, best driver is already installed when you click Next. In the next screen, select Intel(r) ICH9M-E/M SATA AHCI Controller and click on "disk" and on the next screen, specify the path c:\drivers\win\imsm.

PS review iastor in case connection error messages comparing them to the update system install history as follows:

    1. in Control Panel, in administrative tools, open the Windows event log. If this is not the first time, you use the newspaper, you may need to select the local newspaper - the top left - line for the Summary window to open in the Middle, you can maximize this window down.

    2. Select the error line in the Middle window and click Show all instances of this event on the right side. All error events are now listed in the Middle window.

    3. click on filter the current view on the right side. In the new menu, enter 9 in the field of event ID, select ok and then Yes.

    4. you should now have a list of all occurrences of the error in iastor event. Scroll through the list and note the timestamp of the first occurrence of the error.

    5. open Thinkvantage System Update, then select historical spectacle of installation. Scroll the window to the right you see the timestamps. Examine your updates, just before the message in iastor appeared first in your event log.

    Original entry

My new T500 a few days after the execution of the first update of the system began to hang once or twice every 24 hours with light on HARD drive and "the device, \Device\Ide\iaStor0, did not in the expiration time" in the registry.

    ,

iastor is the Intel Matrix Storage Manager (MSM) for their device RAID/AHCI controllers. The Intel AHCI controller listed in as installed for the T500 shows version 8.6.0 Device Manager, which is the current version according to the Intel web site.

There are zero warnings to disk in the event log errors, I ran the drive diagnostic - the drive is healthy. I don't think that this is a problem of DVD or disc, it's the MSM which is a failure.

Googling on the MSM error message there is a certain. A batch is since last year and concerns of Intel THAT MSM supporting properly - l/min, this has been fixed in MSM 7.5.0 see http://www.intel.com/support/chipsets/imsm/sb/CS-025783.htm

A second batch was held earlier this year for Dell laptops that, without looking into the details, seems to have been caused by an incompatibility between the BIOS and the MSM reported. (Update system to update my BIOS to 1.20 - 1, 01).

Other solutions to this problem found on the web include the removal of iastor/MSM settings in the Windows registry to disable l/min and turn off AHCI in the BIOS.

It would be nice to be able to verify that this isn't a hard drive problem by disabling the AHCI and therefore the Intel controller. How to do that in T500 BIOS Setup and what are the implications on the performance of my drive (Hitachi 160 GB at 7200 RPM)?

It could be malware believe it or not. It could also be a failing hard drive. I recommend that you first scan your computer with scanners on the links below ensuring that update you before the analysis.

    Malwarebytes.org

    SUPERAntiSpyware.com

If the scans are own return, you will need to go to the website of the manufacturer of your hard drive and download the diagnostic tool for your hard drive. It will probably take an iso that burn you to a disc and make it bootable. Let me know the results of the analysis, and we'll go from there.

  • Satellite P300-156 - driver detected on \Device\Ide\IdePort1 controller error

    Hello

I have recently installed a secondary hard drive in my P300-156 and am having some problems with it. I get 11 event IDS in the event log system "the driver detected a controller on \Device\Ide\IdePort1. error" and suffer with very poor performance with this player.

The drive is new and works fine in other systems and even works ok if I swap bays my P300-156, but the problem with this is that the drive does not fit in the other Bay, as it is quite thick. The player in question is a Samsung HM100UI 1 TB 2.5 "Sata. I also tried other readers in this Bay, and they work well too.

I am using windows 7 ultimate and the Intel chipset drivers. It's an Intel ICH8M SATA AHCI controller, the 7.0.0.1013 driver version. Have tried different drivers and the AHCI/IDE mode. Also tried a new installation and the problem persists.

Am at a loss why this disc problems is there anything else someone can suggest to try?

    Thanks in advance.

    > I also tried other readers in this Bay, and they work well too.

This means that you had problems with the other drives in the second span?
If Yes, then I guess some problem of compatibility between the P300 and the HARD drive

  • Windows backup default - Eventvwr shows error on \Device\Ide\IdePort0 controller

    Hello

I'm at my wits end. I got the error 0 x 81000037 when you run backups windows recently. I am backing up to an external USB drive.

I went through the entire analysis point fix, I run scans antivirus complete and deleted all quarantines and I have now deleted all audio-visual products. I tried to back up selected folders, clean boots and I'm still not able to run a backup. However, I'm now not only this error code, but others.

Looking at the event viewer, it seems that each backup error is preceded by 11 on atapi event: «the pilot detected an error on \Device\Ide\IdePort0 controller»

I don't know what it is, but I wonder if this is what is at the origin of the problems, and if so, is this a problem with the external USB HARD drive or internal one.

Can anyone help? I'm desperate to save my files.

    Hello

You might face this question when the competent services for backup are not running, you can also face this question when the chipset drivers are corrupt. Make sure you don't have any other external device connected to your computer outside of the mouse and keyboard. I suggest you to make sure that the following services are running and set to automatic.

    Shadow copy volume

    • Windows backup service
    • Engine block of backup Service level
    • Windows event log
    • Task Scheduler
    • Click Start, click in the start, Search , type services.mscand then press enter and then check the benefits described above, one by one.
    • You can follow the steps in the link below and check if it helps you.
    • Windows backup or restore 0 x 80070001, 0 x 81000037 or 0 x 80070003 errors

  • Distinguish the event log device

    Hi all

I'm getting errors in the log of events of a machine as follows:
The driver has detected an error of the controller on \Device\Harddisk5\DR5.
I'm trying to identify the device causing this error.  I looked in the support article "how to distinguish between a peripheral drive of year physical Message event" http://support.microsoft.com/kb/159865?wa=wsignin1.0
The problem I have is that I don't currently have physical access to the machine, so I can't simply open Device Manager to take a peek and the method using the registry does not seem to apply to Windows 7.  I have no other options or will at a distance, I have access to the system have a look.
    Thanks for the help

    Hi André,.

Error: Device\Harddisk5\DR5, DR means a removable drive. So please check the USB device, or remove and reconnect all USB devices.

This problem occurs when all the following conditions are true:

    (a) you have a removable drive, such as an Iomega Zip drive, configured as the drive letter C.

    (b) you don't have a removable disk in the removable disk drive.

Let's change the assignment of drive letter for the removable drive to one letter other than C:\.

    a. log in the computer as an administrator.

    b. Insert a disk in the removable drive.

    c. type computer management in the start search box and press ENTER.

    d. click on disk management.

    e. right-click the partition, logical drive or volume that you want to change and then click on change drive letter and paths.

    f. click on the removable drive, click it, click on change, click the drive letter that you want to use, and then click OK.

If the above is not enough, you need to connect only one device at a time to identify which device is causing the error.

Hope the above information is helpful.

  • "Detect an error in the course of the PININST_BBV".

I'm still working on the resumption of this problem that AxshunJaxun has been able to help me to diagnose properly.

I have since received support from HP recovery and bought a new HARD drive that needs to be an improvement on the part of the plant. And I spent part of yesterday and most of the work now on the process of recovery without success (several failed attempts).

I get a message "failed to retrieve" Application Recovery Manager with the message of the specific details of:

[2:37:49.82] ChkErrBB.CMD: detect an error in the PININST_BBV.
    [2:37:49.82] ChkErrBB.CMD: check c:\system.sav\logs\BurnBootWarn.log
    [2:37:49.82] ChkErrBB.CMD: or, visit c:\system.sav\logs\BurnBootMerge.log

(The two. LOG files do not exist on the C: partition, which is here.)

I followed the process (initially had to hit ESC instead of F2) developed by anthony82 and met no error on drive testing HARD and memory.

According to this message , it's probably a problem with the HP recovery media. anyone else seen this kind of problem and that this is the case also determined?
