HP ENVY laptop - 15-ae103na: HP Envy 15 AE-103NA fingerprint reader

SO, since having a HP laptop, I had one for 4 months and then HP gave me this beautiful machine... Unfortunately questions... maybe my fault this time well!

So, I deleted windows 10, installed a Samsung 1 TB SSD and installed my genuine copy of Windows 7 Ultimate x 64.

I avoided to install other drivers and updates of Windows, just in case that leads to a format the drive again.

So for now, I have not installed the chipset drivers, bios update or all drivers for the devices in device manager see the below, but I'll do it now... If necessary, they can be uninstalled.

So, I was on the HP site, had the HP to choose my system drivers and the laptop and installed the driver list at the keyboard, mice & input devices etc. and installed the single pass software relevant... Nothing... even at the start... the drive is not yet flash or blink at all.

Previously, I had the system in place all updates etc, then still nothing so I thought I would start again ensure a clean slate. Done the many things suggested on other threads, but nothing yet... so that brings me to create this thread, because it is of a different model of laptop someone elses discussions I've read.

Eitherway SP74365 & SP71729 drivers do nothing,

I would really like to avoid having another problem for 4 months with the client side of HP of things then I would really not the tech guys to dig and go hardcore on this issue, if you don't mind.

I thank you very much in advance,

Kind regards

Adam

Well, I have figured it out.

The key is not to install the latest version of Intel (R) _USB_3.0_eXtensible_Host_Controller_Driver.

For 2015 ALL HP laptop computers that have Windows 7 installed, you need this driver...

Intel (R) _USB_3.0_eXtensible_Host_Controller_Driver_4.0.4.51

Don't download HP cos it does not theres missing drivers in the installation package that is why devices such as:

TruVision Cam, Bluetooth, biometric devices, and a host of other USB based devices don't work... the drivers are not included.

Use THIS link, https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/22824/USB-3-0-Driver-Intel-USB-3-0-eXtensible-Host-Controller-Driver-for-Intel-8-9-100-Series-and-C220-C610-Chipset-Family.

I recommend that you install it immediately after the new installation of Windows 7 before ANY updates to Windows.

I can only really recommend this on the latest models of 2015 for example:

HP Envy 15 AE - XXX NA

HP Envy 17 AE - XXX NA

but it will probably work with others too.

Install drivers and reboot!

After that, you can install synaptics simplepass, Nvidia, etc..

You also won't likely NO internet access at ALL at first, you will need to go to HP site on another computer and download the graphics Intel, LAN and Wifi Intel drivers and install them in order to be able to directly download all applications from your laptop.

IE on windows 7 is old so Web pages appear incorrectly/broken...download and install Firefox or chrome.

Job done! I'm going to this post in the forum and see if I can get it to make a post sticky!

Good luck!

Adam

Recently I formatted my laptop after returning from Windows 10. Unfortunately, I had to do it through hard-wiping instead of software reset or rollback. Now, I can't get my fingerprint reader to work. I found almost all the drivers for my laptop via this Web site and tool for detection of HP model except for the fingerprint reader and its software (SimplePass), which is weird because I downloaded the installer of the driver on this site once the detection tool has led me to the page. How can I get that back?

Please follow the steps as indicated below to solve the problem

    Disable the biometric identifiers:

    Delete the biometric login option:

Control Panel > biometric devices > change biometric parameters

Uncheck the BOX "Allow users to log on to Windows using their fingerprints"

    Save the changes.

To remove the biometrics data for all users, click the option button (round) "off biometrics.

    Clear validity sensor driver:

Validity sensor driver controls the fingerprinter material.

SimplePass software manages the password database.

You can disable the device.  The fingerprinter work not long until the device remains disabled.

Control Panel > Device Manager > biometric devices > right-click on Validity Sensor > disable

    Hi SergeyPov,

I see that you are having problems with your fingerprint reader on your laptop. I'd love to help you.

You mentioned that you also updated the BIOS. After doing that you did that the fingerprint reader is always enabled in the BIOS?

Another option would be to possibly check the connections related to the fingerprint reader. It may have a bad contact, or it is also possible that the Board is defective. See the link below that can help checking the connection.

  • PC laptop Envy 17: Envy 17 laptop PC fingerprint reader works only after the start

The fingerprint on my Envy 17 reader reads only a fingerprint the first time that I connect once the system is booted (after shutdown or restart). From time to time, it will read once the system is locked, but that is extremely rare. I put the system in place using my MSN account and also configured SimplePass with default settings. SimplePass version is 8.00.57.

I looked on several other issues in the forum and did not find something like this. Other issues reported when related to player doesn't work do not, for example. I found a few link in some messages describing such tasks that go back to a previous version of SimplePass.

I don't know if it is related to my problem or not, but I noticed that the drive light sometimes flashes a sequence once the system is running. It seems that when the light flashes, it will not be read. It stops flashing when I placed my finger on the reader. (I think that the typical sequence is 3 flashes, pause, 1 flash. This cycle repeats.) This isn't always for that well, and I have found no correlation between the flashes and the measures taken after the initial logon.

I made the fingerprint reader driver, rather than later.

I uninstalled SimplePass (after update to the last with no luck) and the drive works fine now. I use RoboForm for my password management and it supports using the fingerprint so I'm covered there. I guess it should be renamed "SimplyNoPass."

  • ENVY 17 t-J100 Leap Fingerprint reader seeing Motion?

My brother has the motion of non-saut ENVY 17 t-J000. And he has a LED indicator to the left of the sensor fingerprint that lights in white or orange when you drag your finger. Which is really nice to know that it has detected your finger when you think that nothing is happening.

But I just got the Motion Leap of his laptop computer version, and I don't see any LEDS light up when I slide my finger. The sensor works well though.

So my question is, can confirm one that this model has or that there is no LED indicator as the motion of non-saut feel LIKE? I don't want to lose time to call HP if this model does not have the LED indicator. But if he does, I need to have the unit repaired or replaced before I get it all together at the top.

Weird that it is not displayed, here's an imgur link, in case you still want to see

  • HP Envy 15-j140na: HP SimplePass fingerprint reader incentive is not to connect

    Hello

I just bought the HP Envy 15-j140na sound of HP. The laptop is fantastic, but I'm having a problem with the fingerprint reader. The computer comes with the simplepass 8.00.57 already installed the version of the software.

The problem I have, is that once I implemented the simple passage fingerprint reader, it lead me to analyze my impression when connecting windows and I have to log on normally. I checked all the settings and it should be implemented, however there is no prompt. Just to emphasize that everything works fine. I can't sign in Web sites on IE no problem at all using the fingerprint reader. It can be a little frustrating because it goes against the interest of having a fingerprint reader.

Any help to operate would be greatly apprecieted,

    Bravo guys.

    • Reboot (restart) the computer and connect
    • Make sure your sign-Options set correctly in the laptop settings

    Hello:

Looking at your other posts it seems that you have yourself painted in a corner.

Since there is no inheritance or the setting USB auto in the BIOS, your only option would be to remove the hard drive, then put it in a USB drive enclosure sata hard laptop, plug in another PC so it can be read, download the drivers there, you need and copy to you user profile on the hard drive removed.

Chapter 5 maintenance manual provides the procedures of withdrawal and replacement for the hard drive.

    http://h10032.www1.HP.com/CTG/manual/c03733656

Reinstall the hard drive, run the drivers, and you should be good to go.

These would be the drivers you need for your model...

  • HP ENVY 17 G0U21AV - is there a way to disable the fingerprint reader?

    I use a HP ENVY 17 G0U21AV 8.1 Windows.

This model came with a fingerprint reader in the lower left corner of the computer. Although this seems to be a nice feature, it is not one that I plan on using (I use LastPass to my passwords). I keep my Palm on the scanner that will bring to the top of the screen for HP SimplePass accidentally part traffic. This can come from the most inopportune moments, and it can become quite annoying always trying consciously avoid the fingerprint reader.

Is it possible to disable the fingerprint reader?

    Thank you.

    @DSWJoshua,

Thanks for posting. You can disable the fingerprint reader. For completeness, I'll give you steps to disable the driver itself and the biometric support, so you should not worry about this later.

To disable the driver, go to control panel, then Device Manager. Expand biometric devices. Right-click on the sensor of validity and uninstall it.

To disable biometric support, go to the Control Panel, biometric devices then. Uncheck allow users to log on to Windows using their fingerprints, and then save it.

The good news: there are 10 HP Windows drivers for your system.  (It is not the case for everyone.)

If the system has been migrated to Windows 10 (as opposed to the installed computer with W10), while you have installed HP 10 Windows drivers, including the Chipset driver.

There is an update to the BIOS of your system - which do not install unless you have your computer completely saved, particularly files all critical.  Do not update the BIOS unless / until it's absolutely necessary.  Why hesitate?  BIOS updates may be very beneficial--or they can turn fatal and turn your computer into a large, flat paper weight.
