My Officejet pro 8500 dead.  Are there personal information stored in the printer I need to erase or destroy before recycling the machine?

@No3putt, welcome to the Forums of HP,

The printer may have stored recent incoming faxes in memory. You can restore the printer back to factory settings to delete all information.

    • Select the configuration Menu, tools, restore the settings by default, Yes.

That should erase any information that you entered in the unit and you should be good to recycle!

  • OfficeJet Pro 8500 wireless (A909g) cannot print to network on windows computers folder 8

I have an Officejet Pro 8500 A909g on a home wireless network with three windows computers.  Recently upgraded to the Vista computer and the computer from Windows 7 to Windows 8.  Still, the third computer is Windows XP.  The updates were 'clean' (started from scratch) and the latest full version of Windows 8 Hp driver has been installed.  Everything seems to work fine, except that I can't "scan to network folder" on both machines to Windows 8!  I can scan a file from the Hp Solution Center Console and it works fine, but it's too much pain to go through all the steps.  I use "scan to network folder" a LOT, so it is a problem.  The scan to network folder continues to operate correctly on the XP machine.

To clarify what's happening - Scan kind of works network folder: he finds the file, scans the document and saves it in the folder.  But the size of the file is zero and it is unreadable.

I called the Hp support by phone and was happy to have very positive support, and they don't charge me even though I was out of warranty.  The technician spent almost an hour of research on the issue, running either through every test possible and to discuss with her supervisor.  In the end, she said that there must be something wrong with my computer.  I think they just ran out of options.

I am convinced that there is a compatibility issue with Windows 8.  If so, admit it and don't running me in circles more Computer Configuration controls do.

A related problem: I downloaded the app "Hp Scan and Capture" of Windows 8 and it works at all.  Could not find even the officejet 8500, although this model is listed as a "supported device" so that the app on the Hp website.

Unfortunately this printer is not on the list of printers supported for this application. Unfortunately, this printer has been made too long before programming has been written so that it can be retro-compatible.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8500 not low ink printing

I have printer HP Officejet Pro 8500 A909g all-in-one wireless.  I use laptop computers with Windows XP 32-bit, and Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.

I received an error message "Unable to print" - replace the following ink cartridge to resume printing (HP 940 M).  I replaced the single cartridge and all the cartridges and still have the error message.  I thought that maybe the Magenta Ink Cartridge, I bought was the problem and I tried another new cartridge of ink Magenta.  The error message was always the same.

I followed the "solving a problem" to "replace following the empty ink cartridge after I installed a new cartridge.

I even replaced the printhead to see if it would fix it, but no resolution.  Before replacing the print head, I could see the ink levels and he would show levels of ink full and empty intermittently.  Now it is blocked by the error on the screen and neither will meet press OK and continue.

This could be the cause of this error message?  You have a solution?  Is that all I can try to correct this error message?

    Dennis

It sounds like the problem of reading ink cartridges could be caused by a bug in the firmware of the printer. There are a few things you can try to clear the glitch. First of all, make sure that you have the latest firmware installed in the printer. I'll link the instructions below. If the problem is still there after that, try to do a hard and partial reset. Do the hard reset first and if that does not work, proceed to the partial reset. If none of that works, the printer is locked on the error and must be replaced.

    Update the Firmware

  • OfficeJet Pro 8500 a Premium: my printer driver has changed and it's HORRIBLE

I have been using my HP 8500 a all-in-one with a few years now with no problem.  Day before yesterday, I met a problem: when I tried to specify certain pages of a document to print, I get an error message.  However, if I chose to print the entire document, it would print.  I assumed that my driver to be updated, so I downloaded from the HP website.  WHAT A HORRIBLE MISTAKE IT WAS.  My scanning utility has changed, I can only print even when I choose to print an entire document.  I can't print at all in an Excel worksheet.  I tried uninstalling the driver and re-install.  I DON'T want to network this printer, but now whenever I have try to reinstall the driver, I can choose to connect via USB, but on the pop - up next, it does not give me the option to proceed.  It gives me the possibility to 'come back' or 'jumps' USB connection.

    What the hell is happening?

    Hi @LMKos,

    Welcome to the HP community!

I hope you have a pleasant experience here.

I want to help you with driver/software problems that you are having with your HP Officejet Pro 8500 has e-all-in-one printer and your computer Windows 8.

It seems that your software is may not be installed correctly, in addition to the common issue of 8.1 to Windows Installer automatically update Windows drivers.

First of all, with the USB cable plugged in, we want to remove all instances of your printer in Device Manager (so when you plug the USB cable back in during the new installation, it will be seen as a new device).

    1. Open your start.
    2. Start typing 'This PC', it will come under results of research. Right-click on computer and select Manage.
    3. Click Device Manager on the left side.
    4. In the main part of the window, locate in the following categories for all HP entries: Bus USB controllers, printers, imaging devices and other devices.
    5. If you see your HP printer in one of these sections, right click and select Uninstall. Keep an eye out as well for all that said device unknown and let me know if you see this at all (these are also well uninstall).
    6. After have removed all entries of HP, unplug your USB key and leave it unplugged. Do not reconnect the USB until you are asked when reinstall us.

Next we want to remove printers from the printers and devices folder.

    1. From your desktop, or drag from the right to open the bar of charms, or press Win key + C on your keyboard.
    2. Select settings in the bar on the right.
    3. Select Control Panel
    4. Under hardware and sound, select devices and printers
    5. Right click on each icon you see for your 8500 has (even if there is only one) and select remove an instrument, or delete.

Once this done, allows to make a cleanboot from your computer (this turns off all non-essential startup programs, so if there is another program running that interferes with the installation we can avoid it).

How to perform a clean boot in Windows

Once the computer restarts, try to download the HP printer install wizard to complete the installation for you. It will automatically detect your device and install the appropriate software.

Please reply to let me know if that solves the problem.

    Good luck!

  • OfficeJet pro 8500 a do not print

My Officejet Pro 8500 910 has is top just print on cone winder or not at all that is the case with the test print I've tried HP Print and scan doctor he said nothing to fix. The drivers are all to date

Y at - it something that I'm missing that could be the reason why he used print

    Thanks Dan

You say that the problem occurs even when you print reports of self-test of the printer. Have you tried to print a report of quality printing under the Setup menu > reports to see if the problem appears in this report as well?

In addition, see the document found here for the procedure help solve print quality problems.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8500 best has come out very low but the printer works fine.

I was always able to make great copies.  The quality of the document that I copy is excellent and I've copied before.  Now everything I copy is very low and cannot be read.  The printer works without any problem.

    Hey 1265yankee,

I see that you have a problem of quality of the copy with your Officejet Pro 8500 (A910) a model-all-in-one.  Have you tried to reset the printer hard and ensured that the device is connected to a wall outlet directly?

    • Unplug the printer while on
    • Unplug the other end of the power cord from the wall jack directly
    • Wait 30 to 60 seconds
    • Plug the unit back to

Also, take a look at the steps in the document found here.  The document is not directly applicable in the present case, but the steps are the same for your question.

Let me know how it goes.  If this does not solve your problem, then I have the steps to perform a factory reset on this product to see if an internal reset will be able to get the device to work as expected.

  • My HP officejet pro 8500 has more - will print from my laptop, but not by the desk top

It prints my laptop downstairs, but not from the Office superior or smart phone. There is a Wi - Fi connection.  I tried the diagnostic tests and does not issue?

When was the last time the devices were power cycled?

I recommend an oil change of the full power of the system:

Unplug the router when turned on

    * Wait 30 seconds

    * Connect Router and wait for it to reboot completely

    * Reboot the computer after the powers of the router to the top

Unplug the printer when turned on

Disconnect the other end of the power cord from the wall outlet

    * Wait 30 seconds

    * Plug the printer back to

Try to print now that everything has been updated.  If the unit still does not print, then get the IP address of the printer.  This can be achieved in the Setup Menu > wireless Menu.  Check the IP address which seeks the printing software.

    * Click Start menu on PC

    * Select all programs

    * Select the HP folder

    * Select the folder for the HP Officejet Pro 8500 a A910 series

    * Select update the IP address

Also check the information contained in the document located here.  Let me know how it goes.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8500 A909n - Windows 7 Driver needed!

    Hello

I just bought HP Officejet Pro 8500 A909, and he does it not install on my Windows 7 RC1 installation. An updated driver is needed.

I wonder if there is no known workaround solution? I tried compatibility mode and run as admin, comes to about 90% ish and - error.

How can I be sure that HP will make a Windows 7 driver for this model, if I need to return it as soon as POSSIBLE.

    Thank you

@ellirdad. I'm 100% agree with you want HP to solve the driver problem. It's quite maddening.

If you download and use the basic driverset, it works very well (I use Windows 7 RC1 x 64).  This is after forcing it to run in compatibility mode, of course. You can scan, fax, etc. Works very well.

I tried to install the driverset full and also had the problem where it would freeze at 96% and eventually times out. I was bored and deicided to make an investigation of the sound problem have is a file named flash9f.ocx. Apparently, he's trying to 'register' this file with Windows and she fails. I have not dug too deep, but I tried to download and manually save the flash9f.ocf and there still no, then who knows. I hope that HP will get on the ball and give us some Windows 7 drivers soon.

  • OfficeJet Pro 8500 WIreless. Change print heads

try to change the officejet pro 8500 wireless print heads.  Can't find existing print heads.  Press on * does not.  Have turned machine off and restarted the procedure - once again I can't locate heads.  My machine seems to have located differently than in the manual or video print heads.  Help, please

    miles1938,

With the Officejet Pro 8500 Wireless ink cartridges are in the lower left front of the printer compartment.  We can access transportation, which maintains the print heads by lifting the scanner from the front, not just the scanner cover.  To move the cart and the print heads to the left so that we can access it, press and hold * key for about 6 seconds.  If the transport is not moving then we can try to move manually.  Click here for references.
