Partitioning in T500 problem

Hello

A week ago I received the new T500. I tried to divide the drive into 3 partitions and I managed to do it with GParted LiveCD. Windows XP worked fine after that. Then I did the BIOS update with ThinkVantage System Update. After that (I'm not sure it's because of the update of the BIOS) when I boot GParted, it shows that my drive is unallocated space, but windows starts normally...

I wouldn't bother I have not the fact that I have to install Linux on my T500 and installer can't see none of my scores...

What can I do to make it work correctly?

I can even wipe my drive hard if you tell me it will work 100%...

Finally I did it! Here's how I did it: I went to the BIOS changed options SATA AHCI Mode Compatybility. Then I had lunch the installer of Windows XP - whipe on all partitions, created new partitions using Windows install. After that, I have not had any problems with Acronis Disk Director, install linux on my t500 or any other problem. I hope it helps someone.

I wonder if I can I repartition my HARD drive I want

First, I explain what I realized with the FAQ:
If Vista wouldn't boot, Toshiba Recovery in WinRE (eisa configuration) hidden partition offer we have to fix, and then use the DVD burn or HDDRecovery directory in E: to repair partition.

My question is if I don't have the DVD (or I lost it):
If I can I repartition my HARD drive (not the partition recovery, but expand the C: partition to reduce E :) partition without causing problems to recovery?)
In other words the recovery to the boot partition will update the position of recovering files in E:
And if it works, can I just copy - paste the E: c: HDDRecovery then E: while I format E:

    Hello!

If you copy the folder of disk recovery HARD complete with all the files it should normally work, but I do not know Mr. I had never tried it.

But if you have the Toshiba disk recovery is on the safe side. So, you can restore the factory settings whenever you want.

  • Partition SD card problems

I have a laptop Hp Envy (product number: E1P05AV). Recently, I partitioned a sd card, I had so that I could start a recovery of the disk. It turned out that the start menu has not even listed. I know that I did something with it, but this isn't the problem. I decided to scratch this idea and my sd card back to normal. I used diskpart in the cmd to clean its partitions. It worked and the sd card has been back to the unallocated space, but something wasn't right. Whenever I put the sd card into the slot, it would provide for formatting. When I was going to format, I would say that she was unable to complete the format. I discovered that I could not use the sd card on my computer, unless I Redid the score again. I can't yet use another sd card unless it has the same properties of the partition as the first. It's as if the volume is stuck in the sd card slot. I hope it makes sense because it's hard to explain. Thank you'd know if someone could help me solve this problem. Thanks in advance.

    Good morning cck979,

    Thank you for your patience.

    SD Association

If you go to the above site and type format SD cards in the search bar will locate you a link to a module of formatting designed only for these cards.  This can help alleviate the problem.

If this does not work, try this in the administrator command prompt:

    1 Diskpart
    2. list Disk
    3. select disk 1 (replace 1 number reflecting your SD card)
    4. clean
    5. to create the primary partition
    6 asset
    7. format fs = fat32 quick
    8 assign

Be sure to select the right disc number, you do not want to accidentally clean one of your hard drives.

    I hope this has helped.

  • Distortion of sound on T500 problems

    Hi all

I had my T500 now for about 3 months and you have problems with the sound and crackling distortion. It is not obvious when you play, but loading Youtube videos, it is particularly evident. Maybe something to do with interference with the network card, I'm not sure.
I've read that it could be a problem with the Intel ICH9M-E/M SATA AHCI controller, but I can't find the link again.
Any suggestions before I have calling technical support?

I just thought that Id mention a solution to the problem. Lenovo has recently updated the IDE ATA/ATAPI driver for Intel ICH9M/E/M SATA AHCI controller driver. This seems to solve this problem as a stuttering problem I had with my mouse I have ensure that was due to Razer drivers not Lenovo.

Hey everyone, I just got the map broadband 3G that I ordered from Lenovo, but she refuses to have installed the drivers.

Well, I'm looking forward to your suggestions and I appreciate your efforts to help me; D

    Hi Robert,.

I think you should both try to turn it off or put it to maximum performance.

If the won´t of the situation changes, the last procedure would be a restoration of the system to a previous state of vista.

    If it s a vista update problem, google search gives some tips for updates vista and ati performance;

  • Partitioning of the problems when installing Windows 7

I have a HP Compaq CQ58 supplied with Windows 8. I switched to Ubuntu and I'm doing a clean install of Windows 7. Installation came at a prompt asking "Where do you want to install Windows?" and I have three partitions:

    Disk 0 Partition 1 - 94.0 MB system
    Disk 0 Partition 2-296, 4 GB primary
    Disk 0 Partition 3-1, 6 GB primary

When you select one of them, I get "Windows cannot be installed to Partiion Dis 0 x." On the 1 (System) partition, the details are:

Windows cannot be installed to this disk. The selected disk is the GPT partition style.

Windows cannot be installed to this hard disk space. The partition is a partition of EFI (ESP) system.

On Partition 2 (primary), the details just say:

Windows cannot be installed to this disk. The selected disk is the GPT partition style.

And on the Partition (primary) 3, tell the details:

Windows cannot be installed to this disk. The selected disk is the GPT partition style.

Windows cannot be installed to this hard disk space. Windows must be installed on a partition formatted in NTFS.

Windows cannot be installed to this hard disk space. The partition is of an unknown type.

Well, I had nothing in particular requiring a backup (it is a computer of leisure, all of our important data are on other devices), then I hit the "Format" button on all three in turn try to get the installation to run on one of them. If any OS at this point is completely erased. I need to know, now, what to do. I'm not comfortable with my computer knowledge to go and delete partitions without professional opinion. I'm not used to have more than one partition and wouldn't mind consolidating unless HP has good reasons to keep them separate.

    Hello

There is no reason to keep these partitions and you can remove them using the disk management on the following installation disc.

Left click a partition for highlight.

Click the blue link "drive Options (Advanced).

    Select the option 'delete '.

Repeat this step for each partition listed.

Once completed, you should see only 1 entry showing that "the unallocated space on disk 0.

Click on the button 'Next' operation of installation of Windows 7.

Be aware that Windows 7 will also create a "System" of about 100 MB hidden partition that contains the files and start the recovery environment.

  • XP Downgrade T500 problems

    Hello together,

I tried to downgrade my T500 to Windows XP, but it didn't work.

After a restart, Windows Vista startup dialog appears and end up with a blue screen.

I did the downgrade via ThinkVantage key during the starting procedure.

I took the original XP CD witch was delivered by Lenovo and the system restore worked fine.

At the end of the restoration of the system I need to reboot the system but as I wrote the windows XP doesn't have a startup dialog appears.

What can I do? Do I have to format the hard drive before doing the system restore?

    Greetings Andreas

    Hello

Thanks for your help. The downgrade procedure is possible with the rescue and recovery cd. Not with the touch of tink vantage.

  • Windows 8 start problem, due to an accidental installation of Windows XP on another partition

I had Windows 8 Pro on one partition and Windows XP SP3 on another partition for some time and I could choose which start. I decided to remove Win XP and format the partition on that Win XP has been installed. I tried to do it by using formatting option Win XP CD that appears before installation; However, I accidentally installed Win XP on the same partition. The problem is that my laptop is no longer recognizes Win 8 and begins on Win XP. I was wondering if by any chance I could collect Win 8?

Furthermore, the Win 8 partition is installed, is intact and healthy with all the files inside Windows. Also, I tried to update or reset the installation of Win 8 to help to win 8 DVD, however, it did not work; as a message appears saying that the drive is locked.

I thank very you much for your time.

    Impatience on your part.

    Amir

    Hey Amir,

It seems that the boot loader is damaged. You need to install the earlier operating system first, and then install the latest operating system. If you do not have (for example, if you install Windows XP on a computer that is already running Windows 8), you can make your system unusable. This can happen because earlier versions of Windows do not recognize the startup files used in more recent versions of Windows and can overwrite them.

As you have reinstalled Windows XP on a computer running Windows 8, it has destroyed the boot loader.

    Follow these steps.

We need to rebuild the Boot Configuration data (BCD). For this we need an installation of Windows 8 media.  If you do not have an installation, you can create a.

    Refer to this article.

  • Problem with the new installation of Windows XP on the Satellite A100-259

    Hi all!

I have a problem with the fresh install WIN XP on Satellite A100-259 (PSAA2E).
I already deleted the partition, formatted (NTFS) and tried to reinstall from recovery disk that initially provided with the laptop. But whenever I try to install a problem is detected (for the most part it's 'page in the nonpaged area failure').

I also tried to install the OS directly from MS Windows XP Home Edition SP2 CD - the same problem.
I checked the partition using PQ Magic and discovered that there are ' partition table error #110 ".» So, what I did:

    (1) delete partition-> create new partition-> format (NTFS)-> reinstall from recovery disk-> has not yet;
    (2) partition delete-> install WinXP CD original by create and format partition option-> has not yet;
    (3) delete the partition (using the magic of pq)-> create partition (using the magic of pq)-> format NTFS partition for win xp option-> check partition-OK no problems don't-> installation of original win XP CD-installation without changes-> option failed even once
    (4) delete the partition (pq magic)-> create partition (pq magic)-> format NTFS partition for win xp option-> check partition-OK, no problem-> installation of the recovery disc-> has not yet

Whenever a different error is detected, so I can't identify the problem. I don't know what to do. Does anyone have any ideas?

    Hello

Seems that there are some problems with the standards of the partitions.
A friend of mine has tried to install the OS on the recovery CD on the laptop that has been formatted with Partitions Magic 8 and the installation failed.
    It was very strange

Finally, we have formatted the whole HARD drive using the CD original Windows XP Pro.
We did not remove the partition but simply kicked this CD and after the configuration process spent, we formatted the whole HARD disk and install XP without creating all the partitions.

  • Recovery partition does not start!

    Hello dear forum participants!

I have computer hp pavilion dv6 laptop, recently I reinstalled original OS (win7 home 64 bit that comes with the laptop) to win7 Home premium.

Now I want to return to the default settings, and I'm unable to start on the HP Recovery partition.

When I press F11 at startup it boots regular OS, but not the HP recovery software.

How can I get my work as a recovery partition?

    Problem has been solved!

It seems that recovery partition boot records have been corrupted by the installation of the non-native OS, but the directory structure and files were intact.

    Steps performed:

-J' created the recovery USB using HP USB recovery Flash Disk Utility disk

    Link: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-77449-1&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&os=4062&product=4057188

-Fact flash drive bootable using EasyBCD utility

    Link: http://neosmart.net/dl.php?id=1

just add a new entry to point the finger removable WIM image, see documentation for EasyBCD

    http://NeoSmart.NET/wiki/display/EBCD/EasyBCD+documentation+home

It's quick and dirty solution, there will be more estetically without creating recovery USB drive, simply add the for the recovery partition boot record.

  • Starting on the Satellite L series problems

    Hello :)

I realize that my English is not good. I'm Polish.

    1. I have a strange problem with my Satellite. First of all; A few weeks ago that he was not able to start if it was left alone all night. I could turn on it and loading on a black screen for a few seconds with a small white line in the upper corner of the screen... then the display shows "ERROR of READING", what is this strange error? Well... If I tried to restart three or four times, it worked ok after rebooting. When I left the pc intact longer, the error occurred again.

    2. after that, I did the format of this partition. The problem appeared again. in fact, Windows started ok for each test, but the first time in the day, it was still very very long.

    3. I did a surface scan of the disk using HD Tune and other simillar programs. All the bricks were green, no bad sectors were found.

    4. today, I tried to do a format a few times (recovery console). Some of these tests failed because the laptop froze 100% right when the command line appeared (C:\)

I hope someone can help me... I hope that I won't need to repair it under warranty.

    Hello lidia,

Looks like the hard drive has an intermittent fault. "Read error" usually indicates a hardware failure of the disc.

Say you that the unit is under warranty, so take it to a repair center. Repairs shouldn't cost anything.

  • HP ENVY 15-j050tx Notebook PC: can I partition Windows (c :)) by car?

My laptop details are given below:

    Operating system: Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

Product name: HP ENVY 15-j050tx Notebook PC

    Model No.: F2C67PA

I have only two disks, C, and D.

Drive C is used for Windows and install other software. It has around 672 GB storage.

Impossible D drive used or consulted as it is a RECOVERY disk.

Some people recommend HP to store my data and personal files in the same drive where Windows is installed in the C drive, I fear in the case of corrupted Windows, my files of personal data would also be gone. I am thinking so to partition my C drive because it has around 672 GB and only 80% is not used.

    1. is it safe to partition C drive in which runs the Windows operating system?

    2. given that HP does not recommend partition, it creates problems for Windows to run with ease and efficiency?

    3. how to split the partition C drive?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

    1. it's OK to divide c to create a partition for the data,

    2. I have not heard/read HP rexommendation. In my opinion, using tools HP to do a factory restore would eliminate all the plysical by car so no point to divide. And probably because that not sure people so how do not recommend you to do.

    3. Please follow the instructions below:

    http://www.PCWorld.com/article/2066191/how-to-partition-a-hard-drive.html

Note: You must be sure that you can do and Please Don ' t mess thing upwards.
