  • not printed; print head alignment failed

I bought a printer HP 6700 Premium last summer (2012) and made a montage for use by WiFi connection to my laptop Dell Inspiron 1700.  The printer worked fine for 2 months, he was used before packing away until may 2013.

To start using again once I got an error message regarding the Set up ink cartridges.  Assuming that the cartridges were parched of non-use, I have bought/installed HP 933 XL (color) and 933XL (black) ink cartridges.  All indications from the printer indicates that the cartridges are installed correctly, and that all are new/full shells.

The printer continues to not print under the orders of the normal print or with orders queue on the printer for reports such as the 'printer status', 'Print quality', etc.  I also asked 3 times the printer functions "align the print heads", with a message of continuation of the print head alignment failed.  Show based on the "clean printhead" printer (twice) also failed to solve the problem.  When producing a page using above mentioned orders, the paper emerges with images very low (and widely dispersed).

I'm not a person technically the inclined and would be very grateful if anyone could advise on the potential problems noted, and suggestions for the resolution of it.  Thanks in advance for your response (s).

    Hi Plapen,

Can you double check your black ink cartridge.  What is a 932 instead of 933 cartridge?

If it's a 932, can your try to clean the cartridges 2 times more?  Are there changes?  If this does not help, take a look at the following link and try all measures not yet taken.  Click here  Let me know how it goes.

  • Error message - head alignment failed

My printer does not print not in 'black '.  The other colors work properly.  I installed a new black print cartridge and then tried to clean the print heads and finally by aligning the print heads.  I get the error message on the printer console screen that 'print alignment failed '.  I downloaded the HP hardware diagnostic tool and it could not solve the problem.  Certainly, the problem is with my hardware of the printer that I can't even use the "copy" in black.  He's spitting just a blank page when you try to copy something.  Any suggestions?

@recooke - thanks for the response. I look forward to hearing your comments when you get a chance to work on the printer. The community has indicated how the question turns once you get an opportunity of but the troubleshooting in the action steps.

My 7280 all-in-one printer message indicates the alignment of the failed print cartridge.  See the product documentation.  I tried to do a literature search and landed on this link.  Where can I find documentation for my printer?

  • Alignment of printer heads, failed to 7680

The two print heads (HP88) have been replaced today. C/M that works very well. The K/Y seems pretty faulty. My K/Y Printhead and ink cartridges are HP brand. After completing the installation of the print heads, the window of the printer showed "alignment failed". So I ran the alignment and line tools. Still have the same error. Print only C/M.

The Self Test diagnostic page reads for the health of the print head: good. Date at the end of the 2014-03-26 warranty and installation 2012-07-15

I tried pluggin and unplugging the printheads. I ran the clean print heads (used too much ink). Still no black or yellow printed ink.

I ran the utility Mac HP program and health of the print head for the B/Y now says "Fair"... It's strange how what he says good about an hour ago (it should because it's new).

Any suggestions on what I should do?

Mac Pro, OS 10.6.8 20 GB of ram

    HP printhead passable health utility

Two hours later, after swapping in old (in order or return B/Y printhead to the dealer), I also get both GOOD. But it will not print black or yellow. The alignment still does not work. Don't see the magenta lines.

Now it's back to the FAIR. It's really frustrating. I'll just pack.

I had to show this. Now TWO new heads are BAD

I should have done this in the first place: I just called HP technical support and the gentleman said HP can't even stand the 7680 more and the printer is probably dead. It's that old (bought in 2007). He offered to the extended 8600 Officejet more a strongly reduced guaranteed new of 3 years with free return shipping on exchanges in the my (now deceased) 7680. I'm happy to keep that thing out of landfill. Now, I must return this second set of printheads.

Although I'm bummed to get rid of the 7680, I am impressed by the HP support to take into account the factor of the v3 and the disappointment of customers. They did everything quite transparent and somewhat painless. .

  • I have the print head and the alignment of the problems with our officejetpro8500 910 a.

We noticed that the cyan ink was not printing. The product is out of warranty about five weeks before we noticed a problem. We have replaced all the ink with the new hp ink cartridges. We have tried printhead cleaning several times until the third level cleaning when cleaning the print head has failed. We tried to align the printheads without success. We have been dealing with this during more than a month now. We have only 440 pages printed during our first page of self-test diagnostics. Our print head shows that it is under warranty until April 4,2012. We consulted a repair center. We have exausted all the other options until the replacement printhead. We changed to print in black only. Now, she wants to print a test page everytime we try to print something. Ink, we bought at costco for this printer was a third of the price of a new model of 8600. Please help before my wife beat me with this printer!

If the printhead says it expires April 3, 2013, so the date of warranty.  You should be able to get a replacement print head by contacting technical support of HP and good news, it should be free, since the part is under warranty.  You can join the 1-800-474-6836 technical support to the United States and the Canada International users click here.  Let me know what happens.

  • CM750A: OfficeJet HP 8600 PRO print head cannot be aligned

My printer start pages to print, which are unreadable (see attachment). I did several times print head align, but it doesn't help.

You can see the test page printed, but also problems printing on pictures in my dropbox: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/j9jvhkmxk4ctlhj/AACZKQm_3IVi9ZJ2XhdIT2cva?dl=0

No idea what this might be and how can I solve this problem?

    Thank you, Vlad.

Thank you for your advice, but I solved the problem as follows:

    • IT specialis, I have many different features (mostrly interactive and interactive material), but I also have an old printer HP OfficeJet Pro 8600.
    • I checked and found that the two printers (Office Jet 8600 8600 OfficeJet Pro Plus and Pro) replacebale print head.
    • So I had a good opportunity to test my hypothesis, that the print head could cause the problem.
    • I removed the print head with kartridges to the printer that are not aligned.
    • I removed the print head of my old printer work and install in that cannot be aligned.
    • After that is was lined up well - IT WORKS!
    • The printhead with problematic printer cartridges has been installed in the old printer and I handled a bit with the cartridges...
    • After several attempts, it also works.

After these steps, the two printers work and the problem is solved.

My conclusion is this: the old print head problem to align it. For those who do not have a secod printer, it might be a good idea to buy just a printhead for replacament - hereby is a HP article on the printhead part number, as well as on the procedure: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c02871867

Hope this might help someone else,

the plotter was hit, thank you

It seems that that's what the user tried to do it like the example comes from the print head alignment.  First thing you want to do is to clean the MICR band that runs through the carriage Assembly and has fine lines.  Use a damp cloth and go easy on the encoder strip across from left to right and from right to left.  If necessary, turn off first on the plotter and when the carriage moves out of the right side, unplug the printer.  In this way, you will be able to move the carriage to the road that you clean the encoder.  Do not press fort or own to hard that these lines have been known to come off.  Slowly, switch a soaked cloth on one side to the other.  Now, it is clean when you get are more black marks on the canvas.  When the truck is off to the right, you want to move using the belt to see if the action is smooth or bumpy.  So chaotic that would indicate that the belt needs to be replaced.  The last element is transport crossings.  If you look down at the bottom of the carrage to rails, you will see a screw on each side of the carriage house.  Make sure that the screw is not loose.

  • All-in-one HP Photosmart C309a "Alignment failed" error message even after cleaning the print heads, etc.

About 3 weeks ago before making the error msg above, a large black ink blob appeared on my printed piece of paper.  This product for several sheets later, but kept decreasing in amount.  I continued to print & finally all traces of ink have disappeared.  2 days ago I got a msg of error on "load plain white paper. ", but the paper tray was plain white paper in it.  I have removed the paper, straightened and her successor. As a result, the msg "Alignment failed" appeared.  I went through all the steps HP online information on the treatment of the "alignment failed", including the cleaning of the printheads (the right amount of ink was on it), check the vents of cartridge, etc.  My question is: if I have 4 out of colored inks and a new black ink installed, the alignment is being affected by the old cartridges?  A msg on this appeared on the Control Panel, giving the opportunity to proceed with the old cartridges or install new ones, but be careful that it "cannot allow completion of...» "If 'old' were replaced not.  I need to replace these color cartridges or is it probably another problem, which is print head damaged?

Checked the evacuation & there is no problem, so I tried the informal solution to put the printhead in hot water.  A ran 1 cleaning via / configuration on the printer and finally aligned with success tools.  I waited a while to respond because I wanted to see if the printer should continue to work, and there!

Thank you very much.  I'm happy that I can keep this printer!

  • 8500 - alignment failed and black print proberly dosnt

    Hello

I have a problem with my 8500 has.

When I run the alignment, then it has sometimes failed. The black printing ink dosnt too proberly. I tried to run clean print head and tried to run the alignment many times.

If I don't use the printer for a while, so I can print 1-2 pages in black once again, and then the black ink stop working again.

I checked the cables of the ink and tried other solutions to the support page, but nothing seems to work.

Would it work if I replace the print head, or know someone at - it a fix for this?

    Best regards, Anders

Hi @AndersGK and welcome to the Forums of HP!

I see that you have print head problems.  I would try to help!

It seems you have a lot of troubleshooting already covered.  It is possible, that you can start to encounter a failure of the print head.

I recommend to remove the ink cartridges and performing a power reset the printer.  Unplug the power cord from the printer and the power outlet, then wait 60 seconds. After 60 seconds, plug back in the printer. Make sure that you connect the printer directly to a wall outlet. Make sure to bypass any surge protector or power bar.

I would also recommend using the steps described in this document on the problems of quality Print for the HP Officejet Pro 8500 has e-all-in-one printer series.

Good luck and please let me know the results of your troubleshooting operations. Thanks for posting on the HP Forums!

  • C310 HP All in One: black cartridge won't print; Alignment failed

Printer works perfectly, as usual.  Rec'd notice to update the drivers of HP software; has done, and suddenly black ink does not print at all.  Done all the troubleshooting steps: test page printed. print the Diagnostics page.  Align the print cartridges.  Cleaned print heads.  Although the cartridge has shown the more partial estimated ink level, replaced by the new HP black ink cartridge.  Still not printing black ink.

Print uninstalled and reinstalled the software.  Tried everything above.  Has released a new cartridge and replaced with previous.  Also been clarified vents on both cartridges.  It is not that black ink is smudged on striated, it's as if there is no cartridge at all.  I also checked to make sure that the printer is not set to print grayscale.  It is located in the color and Normal.  Changed for the better, still nothing.

HP Print and Scan Doctor initially show all correct.  The device status is now red X: Make sure cartridges and printheads are correct or your printer.  All are genuine HP cartridges.  Now I get a message on the printer alignment failed.  Is it possible that this is related to the update printer drivers?  I have never had a printer HP fail before.  Have at least six of them.  I do not use the printer a lot it should be worn.  In addition, it printed fine until what I've updated the drivers.

Advice on what to try next? Thank you.

    Hello

The only troubleshooting steps to run is clean print head.

Make sure that you perform print head cleaning for at least 3 times.

If the problem persists, then the print head must be replaced.

You need to call HP Technical Support to get help to get the printhead replaced.

If you are in the United States, the toll free # is 1-800-474-6836.

If you're not in the United States, and then connect to www.hp.com , bottom left it is an icon of the world map, click it and then select the region that you belong to, which would then provide the support options for you for this region.

  • HP Officejet 6500 ink cartridge 920, Vista - alignment failed, black ink does not print

I went through the diagnostic process because my printer gives me a view of alignment failed and my black ink will not print.   It is established that I need to replace the print head.  Is it complicated?  What should I do when I need the printer/fax every day?  I have no time for that computer to be down for a day, and even less for as long as it takes to get the part here and replace it myself.  Or worse, if I send to HP to have the work done.

Replacement of the print head is not complicated, it can be done in 5 minutes.  Before doing this, you could be sure that the ventilation openings are not connected and you might try to soak the printhead as shown here.

  • lack of alignment 8500 after installing new print heads

I replaced the print heads in the 8500 wireless all-in-one and get alignment failed.  printer will print documents sent to it, but follows with a print alignment page.  Displays the alert of misalignment.

always print test page of alignment after each document printed.

Note: replace the print heads about two years without any problem.    Patrick

    I appreciate the answer @patrickoj

When the alignment fails, it will continue to retry the alignment every time that you print - it's frustrating, but it's normal.

If you have tried all the steps of a "alignment failed" Error Message appears on the printer control panel, I would like to contact HP Support to see about replacing the printhead (s) that do not work properly. Check the model number and the form to receive a file number for faster assistance.

You can review the limited warranty for print HP ink and print heads replaceable by the customer of consumables HP inkjet cartridges, whether your print heads are in warranty.
