  • Problem with the HP Officejet Pro 8500 printer: clean the print heads each time it is turned on

    Hello everyone,

the printer HP all-in-one Officejet Pro 8500 (A909a - product n. CB022A) clean the print heads whenever I turn it on. This problem affects any HP Officejet Pro 8500 printer, it is not a problem only of this one I bought. It is a boring bug and annoying because each power clean print heads on involves two bad disadvantages:

    1. waste of ink (each heads cleaning process consumes little ink);
    2. too much time (2-3 minutes) to prepare the printer after plugging.

I upgraded my printer with the latest firmware available on the HP site (firmware ver. DLM1FN1006BR), but the bug is still present.

    At this point, I ask:

    1. There is a way (or procedure) to disable automatic cleaning this useless to all power on?
    2. Can we communicate with the HP engineers or tell me how to contact directly one of them to indicate the bug and request a new firmware updated?

Please don't tell me to leave the printer on all the time or that the printheads to each cleaning power is normal behavior! Where then are power and ink savings claimed for this printer model?

I hope that a solution to this problem. Thanks in advance to everyone will help me!

Maintenance when the printer is turned on is normal and is required to keep the printheads in good health (not blocked). See here for more information.

With respect to energy savings, the printer automatically goes to low power mode when the don't feel not for awhile.  It is not necessary turn the unit on to save energy.

Recently bought an Officejet Pro 8500.  But followed installation instructions the printer can't align the print heads.  Have reinstalled the print heads, heads cleaned, etc.  but in vain.  Auto diagnostic test indicates the two print heads are good.  If I click 'OK' when the printer gives the alignment fails message. then I can print a document, then the printer goes through the whole ending print head alignment process again with the same failure message.   Any thoughts on how to solve this problem? Thank you.

I read people talking about pushing the book button and the button nine as they plug the unit back in... I'm confused because my 8500 has isn't ONE of these buttons, unless there is a hidden pannel I don't know.

My printer refuses to print any of the computers on the network. You turn off, turning on and maybe he'll print for a few minutes, maybe not.

I also left unplugged overnight and it was always the same questions. Today I did a software factory reset, then reconnected to the wireless network.

    Hi Stannie,

The following assumes that you have installed full feature software AND that the software is fully functional.

Excerpt from Page 50 of the User Guide:

Set up the scan to E-mail

You can use the printer to scan documents and send them to one or more email address
addresses as attachments, without additional scanning software. You don't need to
analyze the files on your computer and attach them to e-mail messages.

NOTE: If you use the HP Officejet Pro 8500 a (A910a-f), you can only use

Step 1: Define the profiles of outgoing e-mail

Configure the e-mail address that will appear in the FROM part of the e-mail
message sent by the printer. You can add up to 10 profiles of outgoing e-mail. You can
Use the HP software installed on your computer to create these profiles.

Step 2: Add e-mail addresses to the e-mail address book

Manage the list of people to whom you can send e-mail messages to the printer.
You can add up to 5 e-mail addresses or groups of messaging, as well as their correspondents
contact names. To add e-mail addresses, you must use built-in Web printer
    Server (EWS).

Step 3: Configure other e-mail options

You can configure the SUBJECT and body text by default which is included in all e-mail messages
messages sent from the printer. To configure these options, you must use the printer
    EWS.

Step 1: Configure outgoing e-mail profiles

To configure outgoing e-mail used by the printer profile, follow these steps
    your operating system.

    Windows
    1. open the HP printing software. For more information, see software HP printer
    (Windows).

    2. double-click on shares of Scanner and then double-click Scan to e-mail Assistant...

    3. click on new and then follow the instructions on the screen.

It is a Web page interface, that you can use to control and interact with the installation program and the features of your printer.

You can open the built-in Web server in your favorite browser:

    • Open the browser at a blank tab / print this page
    • Enter the IP address of the printer such as the address of the Web page.

    for example

    Enter 192.168.1.16

and the browser will open the Web page for your printer at http://192.168.1.16/

Don't forget, the address IP of YOUR printer will be different.

    Hello Keith,

I just finsihed a repair of my Officejet Pro 8500

At first, I did not see also all the tubes have been pinched as suggested by Ciara, however, the black and magenta tubes were damaged near/behind the sled print head. I think that they have abandoned their guides and am stuck on several occasions by the sled.

To fix it, I used pieces of wire insulation I pasted above the damaged area. I have documented the repair with images and some instructions, but unfortunately, I can not attach the file here. If you do not empty your printer, you can have a go... don't take too long. Send me an email and I will send you the PDF document.

  • OfficeJet Pro 8500 a: 8500 a plug the USB to the PC and wireless for Mac

Our Officejet Pro 8500 a is connected via USB to our HP Pavilion running Windows 7. This connection works well. However, I tried to connect my iMac (OS 10.10.2) to the wireless printer with no success. If I disconnect the USB from the PC, I can connect wirelessly from my Mac. My question is: the Officejet Pro 8500 a does support multiple types of connections - one by USB and the other by wireless? If so, then I would appreciate help to understand why my Mac is not the 8500.

Other details: our wireless router is Apple Airport Extreme. The wireless connection on the printer seems to work (I can print the details of this connection). However, when I try to add the 8500 to the Mac by using add printer, the printer does not appear. (The printer is lit and shows five bars of signal strength, SSID is correct and a valid IP address).

My Mac is connected to the wireless network.

    Any suggestions?

I was able to solve the problem of the printer with ethernet connection to the router that provides network wireless for PC and Mac. Now two machines are able to access the printer with no problems. By connecting with an ethernet cable, connect the printer wireless has been disabled. It had to be done because the wireless radio had become unreliable. The idea was that the blue wireless light never came. Thus by connecting wired LAN, all problems are gone. Thanks to the team of Geed for help.

  • Officejet pro 8500 wireless print envelope

2750 old boy had a slot "envelope" in the output tray to make unique envelopes.  Which was very convenient.  My brand new 8500 had no such "slot" and it seems that I have to remove all of the paper in the tray to put one envelope in!  That makes sense to me, but I'm not just any housing "simple envelope" anywhere!  Is it possible to print one envelope with the officejet pro 8500 wireless without having to use the tray itself?

    Thank you

    DrBillS

I HAVE THE ANSWER THAT WE ALL NOW!

If you're like me: I am running Windows 7, using Microsoft Word 2007, and you have the Officejet Pro 8500.

I just spent the last hour on the phone with a customer service very friendly Rep who tried to help me to print without margins on an envelope. I have try on mail merge and include a return address printed in the upper left corner and a printed stamp sorted in the right corner. Whenever I want to print it would create a margin on the left and right side.

She thought at first it was a software problem with Microsoft Word 2007, because in his version of Word 2003, she could print borderlessly. But I then created an envelope in Photoshop and tried printing without margins. Once more, it would create a margin on the left and the right that was a little more "5/8 of an inch. In fact, the exact margin size is 0,6875 ".

Anyone else having the same problem? I'm sure you are.

HERE'S WHAT YOU SHOULD DO IF YOU WANT TO PRINT WITHOUT MARGINS ON AN ENVELOPE:

    (1) choose a new document in Word 2007, then choose Virgin doc 'LETTER' (no envelope)

    (2) a set of left margin: 0,1875 (Yes it's small!)

    (3) a set of right margin: 1.5

    (4) set the top margin: 2.1875

    (5) also set the bottom margin: 2.1875

    (6) turn the grid if you see your work area.

The grid can be enabled in the 'View' menu and then select the gridlines check box. If you hold down the 'alt' key, you can move objects (such as text boxes) without having to align them on the grid.

Create your envelope, then print. Essentially what you are fooling your printer to think you are printing on a letter for an envelope printing in reality. I need to print 1000 at a time, so it was do-or-die because I just bought this printer and love the speed at which it prints in color. especially on the functionality of the project.

    Good luck!

like others, I have this problem.  In fact I do not use the ADF very often and this kind of ignored her, but today, that I needed so decided to try to fix it.  I tried most of the fixes here and the first did nothing, but trying to look at this, I decided to put the paper in the ADF, then open the cover and look to see what happened.  My God, he started work.  I let go a bit and then started to lower the lid.  Heck, he stopped.  Essaye tried again, stopped again that I dropped the lid.  Did that a few times and then being qualified professionally I have the fix engineering, a slight slap on the far side of the adf, as on the back of the printer.  Now, my God, it was only half an hour, but the thing works.  Put three leaves there very well.

    Hello @billfern,

I understand that you were familiar problems of automatic document feeder on your HP Officejet Pro 8500 has more e-All-in-One Printer and after trying to solve the problem, you have found that when you lower the scanner the paper process would stop. I'm happy to hear that you were able to solve this specific problem by giving a bit of a slap to the printer. This certainly isn't a standard troubleshooting step, but one that I saw set a number of different problems!

In your case, I agree that there is a sensor or roller conflict occurring which is at the origin of the book of power question. This may be due to a defect of the real hardware or a programming problem. In all areas of document feeder, it is not so simple. There are many variables that can affect the document feeder Assembly. Some problems occur after crossing the media statement incorrect Assembly or an overload of the Assembly. Other problems occur if a part in the tray is physically broken. And some points can be caused by a programming problem. However, in all cases, if the charger is faulty a replacement of the entire unit would be necessary that the tray is not a replaceable part.

It is never a bad idea to update the programming on your machine. Even if your specific Officejet works at the present time, I would recommend sending the last update of the Firmware to it. You can download and run the update of the Firmware by clicking on here.
