Re install Win XP but no product recovery CD

I am trying to sort a Sam 3000 friends for him that runs very slowly. I think that his daughters have loaded many software on unscrupulous web services which seems to be very difficult to uninstall. I have around 70 processes that run the task to monitor! On a normal start with nothing installed, it should be more than 25.
I upgraded to 128 to 384 MB RAM, which has improved him think a little, but I need to get rid of all harmful programs. I was thinking of doing a new installation, but I do not have a recovery CD ROM product, so my question is can I install Windows XP Home Edition on it from another PC I have but use the license key provided on the sticker attached to the bottom of the laptop? I also thought to do a system restore, but I don't know how the restore points on the laptop and that they would go far enough back anyway. The latter is my preferred method, because it is easier, of course.

Any advice would be appreciated

Jez

Hi Jez

You are absolutely right. I think that the reinstallation of the OS is the best solution because it is not easy to uninstall it properly. Parts of the software remain hidden in the registry entry.

Upgrading RAM is always good and the reinstallation of the operating system, it will work faster. You can use any CD of Windows XP Home edition to install the OS, but the license key is just for the original recovery CD. Install it on your CD and after that search for the drivers on http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com or use Tools & Utilities CD to install the necessary drivers.

  • Satellite L300-1F8 freezes with Win 7 but ok under Win XP

    Hello

made me this Satellite L300-1F8 as hand down from my sister, and first glance seems he was in working condition.
There is no OS on it and I decided to install it with windows 7.
It starts up fine on the disc, but after some time on the installation process, it freeze or reboot.

The next thing I did was have it running on an Ubuntu live CD... it did boot from the live cd, but after a while it froze again. I've done a memory test and all modules are very well.
I check the hard drive, and again, it was ok. So I tried to install Windows xp on it and to my surprise it is installed without any problem.

Does this mean that I can just install XP on this model?

Also, I noticed that whenever the battery (the orange on the front of the unit) light is turned on, the computer restart or hang...
This means that this device has a power problem?

and oh, as I currently running on Windows XP, I have updated the Bios of 1.50 to 2.20 and even once tried to install Win 7, but had the same problem again.

I returned to Win XP and installed without a hitch.
Here is the complete model in my unit: Satellite L300 - 1F8 PSLBGE00T004AR...

any help would be greatly appreciated... Thank you...

    Hello

    > Does that mean I can only install XP on this model?

No, you can install any system. The hardware specifications of the Satellite L300-1F8 seems ok: processor Intel Pentium dual-core T3400, 4 GB RAM, 250GB HDD and Mobile Intel GMA 4500 M graphics card is good enough to Win 7

I m wondering why the laptop froze running Windows 7 or Linux

    > Also, I noticed that whenever the battery (the orange on the front of the unit) light is turned on, the computer restart or hang... This means that this device has a power problem?

Do you mean the battery indicator? The battery indicator is the 3rd left.
The battery indicator indicates the State of charge. Green: charging completely charged and orange way.

    There are also other indicators:
The first left is indicator DC IN which turns green when the AC adapter DC voltage. If the output of the adapter is abnormal this indicator shows no light.

The second on the left is the led lights green when the laptop is running. If you turn off the computer in standby mode, it starts flashing orange. If the computer turns the indicator shows no light.

  • Unable to install win xp

I installed win 7 on my desktop. But for some reason, I want to install win xp. but during the installation it stops at the initial stage with blue screen. The CD of Win XP works fine fine. Please suggest any changes required in the BIOS.

    Please identify your desktop PC.

There is a good chance that the problem is the lack of native SATA and USB drivers in the installation CD.

Download SATA driver file and what Windows XP installation do not miss invites it F6. This is the stage where you can put the SATA drivers.

You can also consider "slipstreaming" of a Windows XP installation ligthscribe. "Slipstreaming" allows you to perform the part required installation DVD discs.

    now my questions are:

    1. How to make a recovery to win 7 pro disc, that I can use if you need arises to reinstall win 7 pro. ?
    2. Since then, the win 7 pro is preinstalled, so how do I access the product key?

One of the things that I recommend you do so after creating the system image is to change the name of the computer to something else, so if you decide to create another backup system image, it's not too write the original. You can use this even as a method for having multiple images of different systems.

  • Possible to install Win 8 of recovery in Legacy Bios mode discs?

Is it possible to install Win 8 of recovery disks in Legacy Bios instead of UEFI mode, as it comes with?

Or will install it automatically use UEFI mode and configure start secure even if your bios is set to Legacy Bios installation mode for Windows 8?

    In addition,

If I install a clean copy of windows 8 from the official Microsoft Windows 8 Core RTM dvd (same version as my system) and it detects and accepts the built in Win 8 product key and key of CD which is built in my Bios and it activates as valid installation and activeted - this void my warranty?

(It's the same exact Windows version and license I paid HP for except it has not added recovery partition or software of HP so I don't think he would cancel warranty... especially since installation has accepted the built in bios keys - but is this correct?)

Don't know everything if the recovery will install in legacy mode, try and see.

Install a different copy of the same version do not cancel the warranty. However sometimes HP will require you to reinstall OS original to avoid the possibility of problems or if you need warranty service. Don't forget to burn your defined recovery disk before destroying the origianl OS.

You can also find it advantageous to burn them to dvd or save to hard drive USB external your C:\SwSetup file with drivers and software provided on the original laptop. Save a lot of time to download on another computer and transfer it later.

I try many times with the same problem on a different machine with the same problem

The laptop is returned to Toshiba (they have installed win xp from an original cd of microsoft, so I need activation, and I have to do this on 20 computers laptops and good course that no, the toshiba cd creator app, win the dvd...)

I contact toshiba, I'm not sure that they understand what I want, I got a new dvd of restoration with the same problem

Anyone has a solution I would be very happy

Maybe something to change in the bios but I don't know what?

    Thanks for any help

In General original Toshiba recovery image is tested and should work properly on certain model of laptop. If there is a problem with recovery original you should clarify this with Toshiba directly.
As far as I know the BIOS should be set to default settings and nothing should be changed in the BIOS settings when you want to use the recovery image.

All I can imagine is that there is something wrong in the image itself. In the past, I had a similar problem with old Portege 2000.

Is done: If you want to use the original image you must clarify this with Toshiba. Toshiba must offer good job recovery image. If you want to use own WXP then you must purchase the license for this. Toshiba has nothing to do with the activation of the OS.
(> I have to do this on 20 computers, laptops and of course not, the toshiba cd soft > creator, win the dvd...)
    How to understand this?
You want to buy a recovery disk and install it on 20 laptop computers Tecra absolutely identical?

  • Portege M200 will not install product recovery.

    Hello.

I have a laptop Toshiba Portege M200 (model No.: PPM20A-00LG4). Three years ago, that I ran the recovery of products and records program to get a new install of XP Pro. Then I loaded all service packs of the internet. Very well, everything worked fine and the perfermed the laptop.

Recently, the laptop was quite slow, so I decided to do it again.

I booted the laptop on the program of recovery on the external CD-ROM drive. He reformatted the HARD drive, etc. I then installed the product recovery CD four amount requested by the installation on screen menu and the laptop seemed to accept them. Then, when invited to "Remove the disk from the drive and press a key" the laptop restarts but does is display a white blinking cursor against a black screen, for hours. Nothing happens.

After pressing a button to restart, the Toshiba flash appears with different sources of boot, the HARD drive is first, then just the blinking cursor. I tried to re - start the laptop but get the same routine and then the blinking cursor.

I'd appreciate really no clue to the diagnosis.

Thanks in advance for any help.

    Hey,.

The blinking cursor means that the operating system can t be started. To me it sounds like that, something was wrong during the installation of Windows.

I recommend reinstalling Windows if more boot of the Toshiba Recovery disk and follow the instructions on the screen. In other words, do the same steps that you have already done and check what happens.

Such things as installation doesn t work properly can occur without any particular reason. So, don t you worry and just test it again. ;)

Since you posted your product key on a public web site, it has now
almost certainly already been copied and used by hackers all over the
world. This means that Microsoft disables this button so it can't be
    more used.

Please, in the future, never publish your key like this.

But leaving that aside for the moment, to answer your question, if
It is a key to the retail sale, Yes, you can use it on another computer. If it's a
    OEM key, no you can't.
