  Ah... Bloody ISP changed the DNS settings and these needed to be updated on the network--> the global settings screen. Problem solved.

• Restore a RN102 after factory reset

  I plan to refresh my RN102 after sabotaging the snapshot files. It has two 1 TB drives in a RAiD1 configuration and currently has 20 GB of space. I could not easily tell how much of that was held less than a year of snapshots so I tried to remove them manually by allowing instant access, and then enter the sharing with a Windows PC and by deleting the oldest snapshot files. Needless to say this has mixed results. My free space has not changed, and snapshots always appear in the timeline of the RN102. (Yes, I'm a noob NAS.)

  I am considering a vertical expansion by replacing the disks 1 to with 3TBs (current sweetspot for $/GB on red WD.) I have two drives external usb 1 TB I use to alternate backups that I will also switch to 3 TB.

  (1) is it likely to back up the current configuration of the RN102, restore the default settings, replace the disks with 3 TB units, restore the configuration saved in the RN102, then copy saved files for actions on the 102 refreshed in place?

  (2) would it clean up the mess I made out the clichés (I don't mind losing the 'old')? I disabled snapshots on all stocks for the moment until I make this move.

  (3) is there a kind of Moore's law that size _and_ file number will double every year? ;-)

• RN102 3 on 4 hard drives failed in 2 years

  Hi all

  New for communities, but I got the RN102 (purchased from NETGEAR on Amazon with 2 Seagate (ST3000DM001) of 3 TB drives)

  Since all mid 2013. Long story short, I had not set up correctly on the NAS notification alerts, and on mid 2014 did not have two disks. After much back and forth with NETGEAR Tech Support, they sent me two new drives (also ST3000DM001), and I had to send the failed disks to Seagate Recovery Services (they recovered data for a tidy sum!).

  Flash forward to the mid-2015, and one of the replacement burners has failed. I'm pretty bummed.

  My questions - are these disks Seagate just rubbish? Is this normal behavior for them? Can I get something like a red WD drive instead? Or, is there something wrong with my NAS he keeps murdering hard drives? I bought this because I thought it would be a relatively stable place to store files, but it was the storage device hard disk less stable that I have ever owned!

  I would appreciate any ideas or recommendations!

• Unable to connect to the Panel of web directors on ReadyNAS RN102 #24506517

  After running beautifully for about a year, my RN102 leaves me not connect to its admin panel more. I've never experienced any problems before, I would just go to the local IP address and it worked. No more. Firefox tells me "unable to connect" quite quickly after I try to connect. IE11 and chromium produce similar errors. My PC is on Win7 x 64. Connection on the other laptop does not work either. -I CAN still reach actions and folders on NAS via Windows and Android!

  Some additional information:

  -RN102
  -updated to 6.2.2 firmware after which it wouldn't let me not connect
  -C' is ethernet wired to the same router as my PC
  -I can ping always correctly IP address, and the name I gave the NAS via a command line
  -Disabling the firewall of Microsofts does not help
  -before he 'broken', I was messing around with external applications, BarracudaDrive and others. Has decided to remove them all, because I do not have it work properly. Delete apps hung the NAS, I pulled the power and rebooted, it.
  -J' also reinstalled the operating system using the reboot with the reset button sequence. After reinstallation, log actions of Win7 works well, but no luck on the administration panel.

• CASE # 25884573 - update RN102 6.4 he bricked.

• RN102 stuck after starting

  My RN102 will not accomplish its restart, is here (+ 1 h at the time of writing) with albums light flashes at a constant rate and the disc two lights are constantly.

• Speed of the network on the RN102

  I used OWC computer for my needs memory. Here is their recommendation for your computer.
