Satellite A60 - LCD TV external as a monitor

Struggling to get my new Toshiba 15 "lcd tv to function as an external monitor. It is likely to be used as such and I turned on the television for "PC Monitor" all I get is the display of computor flashing momentoraly on the screen. I tried looking at the display settings in the cntrol Panel, but nothing helped.
Help would be appreciated.

What cable use to connect external TFT to the laptop (RGB or S-video output port)? If the external display is connected correctly please use FN + F5 key for switching the display combination.

You can also use option extend my Windows desktop on this monitor. You can find it in the properties on the display settings tab.

    Hello!!

Can someone help me please on a screen problem? I have a Toshiba Satellite A60-122 and when I turn it on the screen does not work. It remains black as if the power of the laptop was turned off. I tried to connect the laptop to an external monitor, but it still does not work. I have no more ideas of what can do to make it work.

I already told to format the pc with the cd of restoration but without an image, it is impossible to do anything...
    Thank you

    Hello Isabel

I'm not an expert, but if there is no image on LCD internal display and the external monitor, I assume that there is a problem with the graphics card. I think you should contact the customer Service of your country partner and let check the device.

I also hope that the warranty is still valid and if something needs to be replaced they will do it for free.

Bye and let us know if you have more information about it.

    Hello

Usually, when someone writes something on the laptop there is usually a question at the end. I understand your ad as a single report. ;)
You have any questions on this subject?

Anyway just a comment to this: graphics card is faulty motherboard Exchange.

  • Error on the screen and blue ati2dvag.dll - Satellite A60-122

    Hello
I have problems with the ati device driver. I have ati mobility radeon 7000 igp and it keeps send me errors. Either the monitor turns blue, warning of the problem caused by ati2dvag.dll and said it caused a loop infinit or resolution of the screen turns into 16 bits and the mouse becomes very slow.
When I send the error report, tells using windows to look for a driver updated in windows update, but there is not.
I also noticed that the laptop overheats and sometimes, especially when I look at DVD turns off by itself. I don't know if these problems are related in some way, but they are certainly my only issues with my laptop.

    Toshiba Satellite A60-122

Try to connect the external monitor, and please use the FN + F5 keyboard shortcut.
Maybe you'll be able to see something on the screen.
If this isn't the case, using ASP is therefore absolutely essential.

  • Satellite A60 - USB ports are not really high speed

    Hello
It seems to me that the SATELLITE A60-197ITA USB ports aren't really high speed. They are very slow!
Some diagnose program says that the BIOS supports USB Legacy...

    What is the problem?
What can I do to have the best performance?

    Hello

I put t know what external device you use, but in my view it is also the external device power function.

Legacy support can be enabled in the HW of Toshiba installation tool. You can find it under control panel.

    Good bye

  • Temperature CPU of the Satellite A60 Pentium 4 2.80 Ghz

2 months ago, I bought the Satellite A60. I felt that the temperature of the CPU becomes very high, I downloaded a program that monitors the CPU-temperatur. Especially during the games JAVA the temp was 78 degrees Celsius. What is the normal temperature, and if the temperature is high, what can I do about it?

    Hi Thuder251,

in my opinion, 78 degrees Celsius is a bit hot for a P4 in a notebook.

The best way is to put the laptop to your dealer or to a Toshiba Service partner.

Go to https://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com - Support & downloads, you will find a list of all the European partners in Service.

I would ask him if they can do a stress test and check if the P4 is really hot.

You are guaranteed and therefore this short assessment should be no problem.

  • How to format Satellite A60 302 without using the CD/DVD drive

    Hello

I have a laptop SATELLITE A60-302, and I had a problem with cd player. I want to format the computer (WIN XP) and I wanned to ask if I can format the computer not by the cd player but another way as disk on key or something...

    Thanks :)

    Hello
Your best bet might be trying to use an external CD/DVD drive to install Windows XP (must confirm that your laptop can boot from USB CD/DVD). I would not recommend it otherwise because they are pretty complicated and you will encounter other issues.

  • Satellite A60-106: ATI graphics card driver update

I have a laptop Satellite A60-106 and I was told to update my driver graphics ATI Mobility Radeon 7000 IGP, otherwise I won't be able to view the photos taken from the video.

I'm unable to locate these updates on the Toshiba site. Nobody knows where and how I can get this update?

    Hello

I don't know if I understood your question right, but you are not able to look at images from your video camera to Mr. I'm wrong?
I put t think that the graphics driver has something to do with this action.

What applications did you use? How did you exactly connected the external device? Did you get any error messages?

Just for the info: I used last time on my laptop the driver from the Omega.net Web site. But on the Toshiba site I found a news that Toshiba recommended to use only the Toshiba drivers graphics and different drivers, you can install it at your own risk!

  • How to remove the HDD on my Satellite A60 password?

    Hello

I have a problem with my hard drive on my Satellite A60. I want to restore my computer with the DVD-rom, but my HARD drive is not detected in the BIOS. I have test the HDD, utilities and it says that the HARD drive is locked with a password?

What is this password? I have not active this password and I don t know how to release it.
Can you help me? I have restored the default setting in the BIOS, without success. Help me!!!

(I'm sorry for my bad English)

You can t remove a HARD drive password. No one can do that.

I put t understand why this happened, but check the HARD drive in a laptop or in an external enclosure.

Maybe the drive is defective and must be replaced.

  • Satellite A60 summary failure and press a key to continue

I have a problem with my satellite A60.
I had the computer for about a year and a half and have never had any serious problems with it of any kind. However, last week the keyboard started to fail, first with only a few keys, then the full keyboard.

It never bothered me much because I'm quite familiar with the Toshiba computers. So I connected an external keyboard, and I was back in business.

I used it very well so far but I put the computer into hibernation last night and when I woke up this morning he said "resume failure and press a key to continue."
I have keys and nothing happens, it just stay on this screen. I try to access BIOS by pressing ESC when I turn on the computer and the priority is set at STARTUP DO not RESUME, hover, it won't let me highlight to change anyway. The computer won't let me boot from the cd. Basically, it's just stuck on the screen and that's all.

I wonder if there is another way to get around this or is my computer ended for good. I was running fedora linux at the time of the accident.

Seems difficult but not insoluble it s...
It resembles a hardware problem, but I won't for sure.

This keyboardthing can be a defective keyboardcontroller, because your description of the error is describing a similar case that I got with my camera.
I send the machine to my local servicepartner and they exchanged my motherboard and keyboard and after repair of the error, I had never bothered me again.

Just a quick question: some fluids come from on your keyboard?

    Have a nice weekend

    Welcome them

  • Satellite A60 - USB 2.0 TVBox does not work

I connect a model USB TVbox PV-TV414U made by Prolink Pixelview for my Satellite A60, I install all the drivers and all the updates for this computer and when I run the program to watch TV from the computer with a BugCode_Usb_Error message blue screen crash? I try to connect the Tvbox in a PCMCIA USB 2.0 card in Satellite A60 and the TVbox works but only the sound, the image appears. I tried in an another Toshiba Satellite A60 and the problem is the same. I tried in many other computer from other brands and everything works fine. The problem is that with the Satellite A60. What is the problem with USB in Satellite A60.
System operating _ windows XP SP

    Hello

Unfortunately, it is not easy to say why it happens. The error message sound like something wrong with the USB connection.
You can try to disable the power on the USB ports in the properties of USB. Maybe it helps.
You can also try to connect this TV box via the external USB powered hub.

But in my opinion, you should communicate with the production of this card. Maybe the support guys would know why this is happening. Also check if there are updates for this card.

  • Re: Satellite A60-106 - deleting characters when you type

Hi, hoping someone here can help me...

Toshiba Satellite A60 106 running Windows XP missing characters when I type. If I type very slowly every key works fine. Many letters are removed to normal typing speed. This happens in all applications and does not load. The key repeat rate is also slower that we should (I know how to define it, the problem is not with the setting but with the fact that the setting is not honored or recognized correctly).

Virus/spyware scanner reports clean. The problem started all of a sudden for no apparent reason and does not seem to be associated with any hardware or software changes. Tried to start in safe mode, try to disable all non-essential progams services started via msconfg but to no avail. problem still there.

Laptop has historically suffered badly from overheating, but this problem is not related of course it's the same thing that the machine is hot or cold.

    Any ideas?

Have you installed drivers for a keyboard or an external mouse? (for example, Logitech or Microsoft)

If you boot into MSDOS, it always falls of characters? You can download a boot BACK on www.bootdisk.com disk

What BIOS version? You have the latest version?

  • Satellite A60 - very slow USB transfer speed

    Hello

I have a Satellite A60 with XP Home and the USB transfer speed is very very low. Is 2.0, but it is not working properly, because it takes about 30 minutes to copy the data from 1 GB on a USB 2.0 drive externally.

I tried my USB drives on another computer and work quickly and well, so it is probably just a problem of drivers, but can't find them on the web from Toshiba to reinstall them. I heard that it is a common problem after installation of XP Service Pack 2, but I didn't do anything, I use the operating system as it came when I bought the laptop (with XP Home SP2 preinstalled original), I do not change any configuration or install drivers that can affect to the USB controllers and it has always been so slow.

Could someone help? I tried to reinstall the drivers from Toshiba, but I think that there are not more special just for the USB, what should I update then? I need to improve the transfer speed of USB data for professional purposes, because I can't lose so given at the time of the transfer, please please please help!

PS: Sorry for my terrible English, but it is there no Toshiba forums on my tongue: P

    Hello

USB drivers are part of the operating system and you are unable to download the USB drivers separately.
In my view, it is really not necessary to reinstall the USB drivers because the USB HDD is recognized correctly and it works.

USB 2.0 transfer speed 480 Mbps supports and if any didn't error message then the USB ports running at full speed.

    For more details, please see this page of Microsoft;
    http://www.Microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/networking/learnmore/jones_02august05.mspx

Last but not least I would recommend to update the XP to the last State. I mean that you need to install all of the available patches and fixes.

    Good bye

  • Unable to set USB drive as first boot on my Satellite A60 device

I have an A60 which CD/DVD does not work. I want to reinstall windows XP from a USB key (I know it's possible) but impossible to define the sequence in the BIOS to boot from USB.

IT shows me boot form HDD, drive to floppy or CD that is not working and I don't have a floppy or another.

    Help, please

I'm sure that on Satellite A60 boot USB is not supported. As much as I know it is possible on new laptops but not on this old model.

Now the question: How do you know that something like this is possible? I really want to learn something new.

You can also connect external HARD as for some other PC disk and copy the I386 folder on second partition. Put the HARD drive in the laptop and try to start the installation from there. The stupid thing is that you need floppy drive to get there.

Sorry, but I'm afraid that without floppy drive you will not be able to do anything.
