Scanner jam

I have an Officejet Pro 8600, and I'm trying to scan a document using the Automatic Document Feeder. The driver retrieves the document, but then it starts to jam and gets stuck at halfway in. I tried to reset the printer and the cleaning of the rollers and seperator pad, but nothing seems to work. Videos 'jam' of consumer support support deal with the printer, not the ADF, so I do not know where to go from here. Any help would be assessed.

Thank you!

Hello Noah_Hadland and welcome to the Forums of HP, I hope you enjoy your experience!

I see that you are having the paper feeding problems.  I would like to help.

I recommend you to perform a power reset.  Unplug the power cord from the printer and the power outlet, then wait 60 seconds. After 60 seconds, plug back in the printer. Make sure that you connect the printer directly to a wall outlet. Make sure to bypass any surge protector or power bar.

I would also suggest using the steps described in this document on the ADF (ADF) does not Pick Up paper.

Even if your problem is different, the steps on the ADF should help solve this problem.

Good luck and please let me know the results of your troubleshooting operations. Thanks for posting on the HP Forums!

  • Assembly of the jammed scanner

I have the HP Laserjet M1217 MFP nfw.  It is no longer copy or scan. It seems that the scanner Assembly is stuck at halfway through the glass. When I restart the machine, it moves only about an inch, then come back.  It also shows "error scanner 22" on the Panel.  I've updated all the software/firmware and everything that I could find, without change. The doctor scanner utility does not detect a problem. Comments or suggestions is greatly appreciated.

    No problem, jackie3.

I have used this gun for more than a year Mx920 - no problem. Had a paper jam. Erased. Can always print and copy. But when you try to scan the computer, I have the error 2.156.0 Jet "scanner is off or usb is not connected".

Re-downloaded and installed the drivers. Once I installed the drivers 'successfully', I can't find where to use it.

Hey @SergeB1and welcome to the Forums of HP!

It seems that you have computer Sprout and want to still use your 6500 a scanner Officjeet. Software for your installed Officejet still? You can choose which method of scanning want it.

If you experience a problem using the Officejet, I suggest to use printing HP and doctor Scan.

HP printing and doctor Scan is a free utility (tool) that allows to quickly resolve problems printing, scanning and connectivity, including but not limited to:

Network: Verifies that the network connection between your computer and your network is working properly.

    • Device Status Test: checks the errors of the device, such as paper, paper jams, stands transport and paper issues and provides instructions to resolve the error.

If this does not resolve the problem, after back and let me know if there are all the symbols except the Green checkmarks and what they are next of course. The key is not always easy to find that the key and the box are both in a green circle.

    • If you see only the Green checkmarks, the tool has not found no problem.
    • If you see Green key, the utility identified a problem and fix it automatically.
    • If you see yellow exclamation points, the test failed and requires monitoring of the user, but the step was ignored.
    • If you see a red X, follow the onscreen instructions to fix the problem.

  • HP officejet 8500: jam on fax error message

My printer gives me a paper jam error message everytime I try to fax on the set of the car. But he fine Fax out of the glass. Also, it prints multiple copies of auto tray.   Amy ssuggestions before buying a new machine.  It is 5 years old.

    Hi @Horseshoer,

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support!

I see that you are not able to communicate by fax using the ADF on your HP Officejet 8500 printer. I'd be happy to help you and don't forget to come back to this thread and check "Accept as Solution", if I have successfully helped solve you the problem. If you want to say 'Thank you' to my effort to help, click on the "thumbs up" to give me a Kudos.

I understand that you are able to fax using the scanner, which is nice to hear. I also see that you mentioned that you are able to copy of the set 'auto '. Are you referring to the ADF (automatic document feeder) or the feeder?

If you are able to copy multiple pages using the ADF, fax should also work. The printer may have a little problem, that can solve a reset.

I would like to do a hard reset to see if that will solve the problem.
Let the printer and disconnect the printer cable and the wall socket for 60 seconds.
Reconnect the power cable to the output of the printer and the wall, and not a surge protector.
This ensures that the printer is full on and can help this situation.

    • Make sure that the printer is connected directly to a wall outlet. (do not use a hub or a surge protector) This ensures that the printer is full on and can help this situation.

If you have a computer that is running Windows 7 or an earlier version, I would update to the firmware of the printer. Clickherefor the download page.

If you are unable to update the firmware of the printer, I suggest to try partial reset or Semi - full Reset. I can send you this information in a private message. In the forum next to your handle name simply click on the envelope to see.

Please reply to this message with the result of your troubleshooting. I can't wait to hear strings attached good luck!

  • Document feeder disabling in order to use the flat bed scanner

I would like to be able to use the portion of my printer for items too large or too large to fit in the document feeder. I have a Photosmart C309a with my Mac. I'm trying to do my job on the printer not through any software. This feature worked before and I don't know why he stopped. I am trying to 'copy' and reduce a magazine article, but the feeder whirs and whirs, then the message's Original Jam, reload the document etc. There is no paper in the tray, it is on the flat.  Any help is very appreciated.

I wouldn't give up. So for someone else with the same problem, that's what I did. I "restored by default" and the document feeder does not activate automatically, however, it didn't complete the process 'copy' and print my document off the Board either. It is in an infinite loop, so I had no choice, but to pull the plug. I received the message telling me not to do so, as if I had another choice. I waited a minute or so and plugged back in and I was able to copy, cut and print the document on the scanner.

  • Scanner seems to prevent initialization

I got a used HP Officejet Pro L7780 all-in-one. I got it home, plugged into the wall outlet, seen pictures of faxes/scans/documents printed as well as the time, date, ink levels. I got the Panel to display in English, then went to configuring wireless, selected my network ID, typed in the neck of my network.
The display panel shows the network configuration menu. The page just before the selection of network ID. I let it sit for about half an hour, just in case it was just being slow, without change.
I unplugged, plugged in, now, the screen displays the image of the prints/scans/Fax with the clock in the upper-left, the date right, no more icons in its lower part; left or right.
The time is accurate returns at the time of power, but it freezes within 2 minutes time to plugin of reading hours later.
The buttons are not admissible, I held down to the Red Cross and the power button, no response at all.
The only way to do anything is to unplug the device.
When I open the scanner part where will documents to scan, the light is on and sometimes not in the storage position. When I close the lid of the scanner section, the light moves to the parking position but remains lit.
Any help is appreciated, but I'm not panicking because I have a backup scanner/printer to continue to use while it is in limbo.

Edit: a little more information. When I turn it on, I can use the buttons and it sometimes changes of menus on the screen. It is, however, lag. I'll see what buttons I pushed a few seconds after pressing some. I was able to turn off the power by pressing the power button in this little time before it freezes.
I downloaded the drivers from the full suite of HP and installed on my main PC.
When I plug the USB in, I get this message: http://i.imgur.com/yi9KXBi.jpg:
The HP imaging device was not found.
    {Troubleshooting, been through them all, no work steps}
    Extended error information: 8 [(1, 0,-2147221500)]

    Solved.
I do not know which of them has worked, but here's what I did.
    1. I'm fed up with it.
    2. I gave punch Fonzi.
    3. I open the scanner cover.
    4. I unplugged from the wall.
    5. I have it plugged in backwards while the scanner cover has increased.
    6. the screen displays something on 'hit ok after removing the jammed paper', but believe me, I've seen throughout this thing and do not found trace of paper anywhere in it.
    7. I pressed 'ok' in a whisper, 'I hope this works."while squinting my eyes.
    8. I saw the wireless radio icon and ink level icons appear, as well as the normal print/fax/whatever image as well as the time and date on the screen.
    9. I printed a test page for the computer while it was connected to the computer via USB.

Now as soon as I close that window, I'll go through the nightmare of the connection to this network.

  • OfficeJet 8500 document feeder paper jam

I have a paper jam in tray my 8500. I can open the scanner, but I can't understand how to access the mechanism for rolls below. In the (p. 187-188) owner's manual, it shows a picture how to do that, but it looks bad - it shows the cover disconnected the ADF mechanism, but I see no way to that.  Any ideas?

When I pulled the paper from the feed, a metal cylinder of small (approximately 1/4 "long) came out too. The cartridges now moving in or out of the right-hand Dock except manually. Unfortunately, this is not a non repairable part. If you have an extended warranty that needs to be covered.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8600 - Paper copy on the glass of the scanner, Officejet tries to copy the ADF

I'm trying to copy a document on my HP Officejet Pro 8600.  I placed the original face down on the scanner glass.  There is no original in the ADF.  Then, I pressed "Copy" and "launch in black."  the Offficejet then "think" the original is in the ADF file and try to copy a non-existent original.  The Officejet then generates a paper jam «»
in the ADF file' error message with instructions to clear paper jam and press 'OK' and spews a piece of paper from the paper tray. There is not an option for 'back '.  If I try to humor the Officejet by opening and closing the cover of the ADF and pressing 'OK', the Officeject generates a copy which is covered with black ink.  If I ask preview copy o, the document on the scanner glass is displayed.  I can adjust margins, etc.  When I select then 'copy' and 'Black start', the Officejet is trying to copy a nonexistent document in the ADF and generates the "Paper jam" message again.  Since there is not an option "go back", I turn the printer off, then turn it back on, and then try again.

How do I train me or the Officejet for copy of the scanner glass when the original is located on the glass of the scanner NOT the ADF?

Thanks for your help to solve this frustrating problem.

    Hi Knitter507,

Try to do a hard reset as described in the following link.  Click here

If that doesn't help, can you print a printer status report and give me the a.) Product # and B.) Version of the firmware of the printer?  To print the report, press on the arrow to the right on the screen of the printer control and then configure / reports / Printer Status Report.

What is the operating system for your computer?

You are able to make a hollow photocopy the ADF?

  • LaserJet M1212nf: HP LaserJet M1212nf will not print, claims paper jam

My LaserJet M1212nf do not print, and it has never printed. Whenever I have create a print job if printing from a PC, copy something via the scanner, or print a report in the menu, it goes through the following:

    1. Initializes the printer,
    2. During initialization, printer pulls in a piece of paper in the tray,
    3. Paper stops halfway in (seems to me like he already spent fuser, then probably would not print correctly in all cases), then the printer claims there is a paper jam.

Note, this printer has never properly printed a single page. The number of impressions is zero (0). I've never had a paper jam.

Note that regards the position of the paper as it is pulled into the printer, I use letter size paper, and the printer menu shows that it has set up to accept size stationery. I confirmed duplicate by checking through the web interface of the printer as well.

    Any help?

And CV: If I can't get this problem solved, I'll have no value outside of this all-in-one at all. It will have been a large lemon and probably will poison any possibility to buy HP products in the future, including those based on the experience of support I've had so far, which has been zero. I tried to get the official support of the guarantee, but despite me documented proof of purchase, my warranty has been backdated to a until I bought itand now I can not contact technical support via the Web site options. I put in another conflict guaranteed, but on the basis of the likely response time will not get an answer until after a guaranteed year is officially over.

  • False paper jam in nine HP LaserJet Pro 100 M175nw

I have a brand new unit never printed a page.  As soon as I plugged it in, I got the error message of paper jam.

"Feeder jam clear doc, reload" press [OK] to continue.  By pressing 'OK' or the Cancel of X button does nothing.

I made (double, triple checked) there was no Ribbon, paper, packing anywhere on or in the printer.  I can even coax to print a page, but the error never stops.  It does not copy and does not print a page 100% correctly.  I cycled the printer power switch unplug the printer about 5 times and no change.  I took each cartridge and reinstalled the drum and what looked like she could be removed easily.  No change.

    Help

OK, so I followed the instructions online for the "jam" and "false jam" at least a dozen times.  Also, I stayed and followed the suggestions of the HP cat.  A few hours later and no success what-so-ever, I finally called HP customer service for a refund.

The gentleman I spoke to the HP Customer Service was AWESOME.  Long story short, he walked me through a few things that I already had, but at the end he told me:

1 roll each roll that I could reach in the document feeder, just to release what it is stuck.

    2. place a document on the flat bed scanner and try to copy.

#2 fixed my problem!  It's somehow reset the printer or caused the error to "look" somewhere other than this error.  He took a solid 2-3 minutes to "think" about the analysis, but eventually copied the document and executed perfectly.  It's been several days and the printer has played perfectly every time.
