SSD in T440/T440s models

What are the SSD models used in T440/T440s? I see that the options are:

  1. 128 GB SSD
  2. 180GB SSD Opal
  3. EDrive SSD 256Go
  4. 240GB SSD Opal
  5. 512 GB SSD

I would be grateful if someone could list the specific brands/models for each SSD option.

Also, it would be good to know any mounted DIY SSD suggestions that could be better (more functional or better value).

You can find the info you need here:

T440s BOM

Note that disks are largely the OEM versions, so you cannot recognize the patterns. Liteon = Plextor and PM841 = Samsung 840 TLC. The Intels 'Sierra Star' are Pro 1500 years

  • [Y580] SSD - mSATA vs SATA

    Hello

I have a Y580 comes with the 7200 500 GB HDD. I think about adding 120GB SSD, but there are 2 solutions:

1: buy a new mSATA SSD and add in the free space inside the laptop (from what I remember, there is enough room for it)

2nd: buy a new SATA SSD and add it instead of the actual HARD disk (which I'll use an external enclosure to external hard drive).

We suggest to you? Is significantly faster than the mSATA SATA? It is always worth to carry an external hard drive just to use the SATA SSD?

    What model\brand advise you?

  • HP Pavilion e8A85UA: HP Pavilion does not look at a new SSD as bootable

    Hello Forum,

I have a laptop HP Pavilion model e8A85UA. It has a processor i7 with 8 GB of ram and 1 TB hard drive 5400 RPM.

I tried to install a new Samsung 850 EVO SSD 500 GB instead of the old hard drive. I'm having serious problems, install any operating system on the new SSD and I think the new UEFI settings are to blame.

Here's how far I got. I can boot from a windows cd and start a new installation for the ssd that is recognized in the windows installation. However, when the pc restarts to complete the installation process of the SSD is not recognized as a boot device and I get an error 3f0. I tried everything in the bio to make it work. It does not recognize the new drive in the bios and only gives me the option "boot of the operating system manager".

I tried booting and installation in legacy mode, with the same results. Somehow this pc just does not recognize this device as bootable.

I tried cloning the old hard drive and all the partitions and boot with the same result. I tried cloning just the partition operating system with the same result. I tried to repair the pc from the windows disk after I tried both a new installation and installation of clone, same thing.

I put back the original hdd and everything starts as it should.

The SSD is also recognized when you set up windows, but it fails on rebooot. It is also recognized by USB when connected through an external sata.

It is on even with a new formatted SSD that the bios on the HP will let me install windows on it, or recognize the new ssd as bootable.

    Any ideas?

    See you soon,.

So after that 2 weeks to play with it, I finally understood what it was. I returned the original ssd, I bought and received a 2nd same thing Samsung 850 EVO. Formatted the drive, tried to install a version of windows, same question, wouldn't boot.

I took the pc at MicroCenter, where I bought it and they have free technical support. I showed them what was going on and that they had no ideas, but they said they would try to install windows for a fee, but if she doesn't they don't charge me, so I had nothing to lose at this point.

Tech called me two days later and said the disc was bad, he ran into the same issue. He took another SSD they had there and installed windows on it very well, he said.

So I returned the Samsung 850 EVO SSD with other supplier and bought a MX100 Crucial ssd 512 GB at home.

Installed the SSD and booted from my Windows Installer USB, installed just fine windows and worked like a champ. The only thing I can think is that Samsung has certain type of firmware on their SSD, at least that model, which is not compatible with my PC BIOS.

Anyway, if someone is facing the question that I just got, maybe try another brand SSD or a different model.

Hope this helps save someone pulling the hair of 2 weeks.

    See you soon,.

  • Spectrum 13D-3000: what format SSD does my spectrum 13D need (want to buy more large SSD)?

I have run out of room on the 128 GB SSD which is preinstalled on my spectrum 13D-3000, and I want to move to a 256 GB.

But it looks like there are a lot of different physical sizes of SSD, so how I don't know one that will suit to my laptop?

I found this YouTube video that seems to show a guy replacing the SSD on the exact model that I have, and it seems to be a 80 mm m2 SSD...

Is there a way I can be sure of that without having to open my laptop?

Here are the numbers of HP framework. for the concert M.2 mSSDs 256 and 512.

    See page 30.

Google images, here is an image of the gig 256:

It's a 80 mm m2 WSSD, I think. You do not have to use this exact part, just the same form factor.

  • HP Pavillion Sleekbook 14-f023: upgrade to SSD

Hey guys! I'm looking to upgrade my computer laptop 1 TB HDD to a Sata 3 SSD. (My stock 1 TB HARD drive died after 11 months of normal use)

So, a quick question, will support my device entirely Sata 3 speeds? (Up to 6 Gb/s) or it will be limited to 3 GB/s?

My laptop is dead now, so I have no chance to install some sort of a program to control the bandwidth.

I thank very you much in advance!

A76M chipset (which your laptop) supports the speed of 6Gbps SATA-III but not obsessed with it. Very little difference in the operation itself between SATA II and SATA-III. You certainly want to make the SSD upgrade, but your model is not easily repaired. You must remove the whole top cover to get to the hard drive. There is no reason to use anything other than a SSD SATA-III.

    Here is the Service Manual:

    Manual

See page 38 for the hard drive replacement instructions.

How do you mean he's dead? I guess you always hear it turn on and messages, but cannot boot from the hard drive is bad?

  • Desktop HP Envy h8 - 1420t CTO: problem Samsung SSD causing with upgrading 8.0 to 8.1 Windows

I can't upgrade my OEM installed Windows 8.0 to 8.1 HP desktop computer.  First, I tried the upgrade when 8.1 was deployed for the first.  It seemed to level OK, but after a reboot I found myself with a black screen... no error message, just a black screen.

I retried it this morning, but this time it failed with DPC_Watchdog_Exception, then Machine_Check_Exception.  After looking in several forums, I'm "guess" it is maybe disk 0, which is a Samsung 830 Series SSD (model: MZ7PC256 / 0:1, s/n: S0U3NSAC705912 p/n: MZ7PC256HAFU - 000: 1) which has been installed and configured by HP, when I ordered this computer from office in 2012.

Magician of Samsung software does not recognize this SDS supported a product, but they identify it as a Samsung MZ7PC256HAFU - 000: 1, with Firmware version CXM05H1Q.  I thought I'd see if a firmware update is available, but there is no information about this SSD on the Samsung support site. In addition, HP doesn't offer not just any which firmware for this SSD, not even the original firmware.  What I saw on the internet says that it is a custom SSD OEM which is not taken in charge by Samsung.

I'm not desperate to upgrade to Win8.1, but I would like to know exactly why the canned upgrade fails.  I have an other available SSD (a Samsung 850 Pro, model: MZ-7KE256BW) that I considered to use to replace the current drive 0, but I hate swapping parts without knowing that this is really the problem.

I am open to advice. The info on my current system follows. Furthermore, I note that there is no conflict of devices or outdate drivers.

    Hello

Don't forget that the W8 is fully updated before upgrading to W8.1. I would suggest to run for a while after the W8.1 update and see if your PC is stable.  If so, then manually a system restore point and then continue the Windows Update process. If your PC is stable after that Windows updates have been applied then manually take another system restore point and proceed to apply the HP recommended software updates for the W8.1 that are posted for your PC.

  • x 360 s102nu 13: 13-s102nu replacement of Ram and SSD

I can't find the maximum installable Ram or SSD specification for this model.

D and I know if I lose my warranty if I do the replacement.

    Help, please.

    Here is the Service Manual:

    Manual

See page 29 for HDD and p. 38 for memory access.

    Maximum memory is 2 x 8 gig DDR3L-1600 modules or 16 concerts.

You can replace the hard drive with a 2.5 inches wide and type of hard drive SSD the SATA 7 or 9.5 mm thick.

Unfortunately, as you can see on the manual, they are not allowed to the end user while keeping the guarantee in place. Also, your model is particularly delicate to work, espescially that memory which requires removal of the motherboard to access.

  • Lost some of Lenovo taskbar toolbars

    Greetings,

On a new Lenovo T440, I updated the Message Center Plus software with wireless drivers, and I lost the taskbar toolbars.

'Lenovo Solution Center' and 'dial-up connections.

Y at - it means to restore these 2 toolbars in the taskbar please?

Please note that reinstalling software did not have them reappear.

Thank you very much for your time and help.

What versions of MCP, LSC and dial-up connections you have installed?

The last MCP is 3.3. published 10/13.2104

    Access Connection 6.23 published 23/09/2014.

LSC published on 15/09/2014 2.6.001. It could auto update to the LSC 2.7.003 16/10/2014 via update auto only.

Given that your have a new computer, the installation of the factory installed probably old version of the software above.

Changes have been made within CSL months of change ICON Interface used in the taskbar.

This caused old version MCP to declare 20 000 + messages available.  MCP 3.3 was released on 13/10/2014 to correct this problem is to say, MCP old and new LSC (icon stuff) has a problem.

If MCP 3.3 (or MORE) is installed, uninstall it for now.  See if the problem clears up.

Yes, you can install an SSD. Your Macbook has only a SATA 1.5 Gb/s interface, but then do not expect full speed gains a SATA 6 Gb/s SSD. It will be still much faster.
