Suspicious call telling me that I have problems with my computer and turn it on

I got a call tonight from a woman with a heavy Indian accent, claiming that there was something very wrong with my computer (virus, or something like that) and she wanted to check a number on my computer (ISP?.. .not ISP because I know what it is... another type of number) and I could only get the number if I turn on my computer.  Been suspicious so I asked who she was.  Quickly, she replied that she was working for a company that supports Windows XP and Vista.  I asked the company and name and she said his company's Solutions megabytes and it was called Genny/Jenny Williams number 102 (I asked his employee number).  I informed her that I was very suspicious and asked for a phone number.  Basically, she said that she only wanted to help and could not if I don't turn on my computer.  I pushed and asked for a phone number as she says that she asks xxxx (town 2 miles where I live).  I was persistent and spoke to him longer then told him to give me his number and I'll call him his back to make sure it was legitimate.  Suddenly, there was silence on the phone.  I was right to do what I did?  I am now very worried that maybe I have a virus/spywear on my computer (I am currently scanning it w/Windows Defender and Weboot Anti Virus and Spy Sweeper to see if it comes out clean.)

It is a common scam. Do not give them information, do not give them access to your PC and do not go to all the websites that they suggest. One moment. See:

http://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/security/online-privacy/msname.aspx .

(these people often but not always use the name of Microsoft)

If you had him leave on your computer you would certainly had malware on it, because she would have said it. You did the right thing.

There is no way she could know whether or not you have malware on your system before she calls you.

  • After the last updates of windows have problems with start up and now drivers

    Hello

After the last updates of windows have problems with start up and now drivers. I get an error code 21 when I try to install the drivers AMD apparently missing.

May 14, last night I had several (automatically) downloaded windows update

Today, I was unable to boot my computer with Windows - tried the disk check, start checks etc, and eventually had to use System Restore (for help before the critical update to restore).

Perfection, everything works, but knowing that windows will attempt to redo an automatic update, tried to check online - no one seemed to have a problem and (naivly) thinking I could always do another restore of the system, I rebooted again.

Same thing worse. Could not do a sys restore either just before restarting or last night. Chose a date earlier (last week) but then lost the USB drivers and pilots display. Downloaded updated but refuses to let my AMD driver install Windows I have a very unpleasant screen... and I must now stop the installation of this update "critical."

Would appreciate advice how do my installed display driver or whether anyone else has problems following this update

    Thank you

    Hello

Windows Defender is the antivirus integrated in Windows 8/8.1/10 and do NOT harm your computer.

    It protects your computer.

    @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

Here's the advice I give on this type of phone calls:

    It's a scam.

We have all the errors and warnings in our Event Viewer, which is another ploy they use to scare you

Either these so-called "Microsoft" Tech companies want to sell you a worthless software, or remote access to your computer to try to steal your credit card and bank information and also achieve an identity theft on you.

You are the only person who knows if you gave them remote access.

If you gave them remote access and you do Internet banking, contact your bank, to explain, and change passwords.

If you use your online credit card, cancel and get a new one issued to you.

And the only way that willl you know that you are free to them is to backup your data and do a clean install of your operating system.

    @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

And Microsoft does not contact you unless YOU have made prior arrangements with them to do.

There is an article in the link I'm you provide at the end of this one

    1. What is the brand and model of graphics card?

2 - is the question also occur with the screen savers that come with Windows Vista?

    a. visit the system manufacturer's Web site, download the Vista compatible video card driver and install it.

  • I have problems with the links and footer

I have problems with hypertext links (they sparkle and also highlight other text on the page) and also the footer space for always lights in site preview mode, even though I did little master and home page and the following pages.  This happened only after I loaded a file of MUSE in the current version of Muse CC put running up-to-date on the imported file to Muse.  Please help me Adobe Community.

Once you have opened the file 2014.3 muse you will not be able to open it in a previous version anyway. In order to keep the updated version.

In this version, Yes, Muse will run an optimization when you open a site. My suggestion is that optimization is made to save the file, so it doesn't have to do it again. I am convinced that a full download should solve your problem. I had a few sites that I need to do a full download myself and all is well.

    Hello

You can use the following methods that can help you solve your problem:

Method 1: Put the computer in safe mode and see if the problem persists:
Method 2: I recommend you perform the clean boot.

Put your boot system helps determine if third-party applications or startup items are causing the problem. If so, you need to maybe contact the manufacturer of the program for updates or uninstall and reinstall the program.

See the following article in the Microsoft KB for more information on how to solve a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or Windows 7:
