  If you have purchased an upgrade, so it can work as an upgrade. Of course, you have the discounted upgrade price.

  If you made a mistake, you must contact Adobe and see if you can return the incorrect purchase. This seems to have worked at least for some in the past.

  As indicated, with an upgrade (apparently what you bought) you will get a request for both the new S/N in the old S/N - assuming that a qualifying product is not installed).

  If you have purchased an upgrade of lr 6, after entering the serial number lr6 will be presented with the list of eligible products.  If lr 5 is your product, select it from the drop-down list, and you will then be asked to enter your serial number lr 5.

  Enter the correct number at the right time and proceed with the installation.

  I try to install Creative Suite 5 Design Premium for a new imac, after entering the serial number, I got this error message.  CS5 does not display the box fell down so I can't select the product.

  I have the serial number original disc and product, however, the new imac doesn't have a DVD drive, so I create ISO disc files and install it via the USB port.

  When you get this message, it means that you install an upgrade version of CS5 and you must identify the old version which qualifies you to use the upgrade and to provide its serial number also as proof that you have the old version.  You mention in the drop-down list, you select the older version and then enter the serial number.

  It shows the message you have purchased an upgrade license, and it asks you to select the older version that you upgraded and provide older version serial number as proof that you are eligible to use the upgrade.

  It seems that you have installed Acrobat XI pro as an upgrade and an upgrade you will need a serial number for a product older Acrobat X, etc. 9:

  Also, I checked with your Adobe ID on the forums and I can only locate XI of Acrobat pro upgrade recorded, please check if you have registered an earlier version of Acrobat on some another email to get this serial number.

  The message indicates that you have purchased a version upgrade of applications and it asks you to identify the previous version of this application you are upgrading, and then provide serial number.

  If you had no intention to buy a version upgrade then you will probably cancel that and buy it at the price high.

  The problem you are having is because the serial number, you have for a version upgrade of Acrobat which means you own earlier version of Acrobat.

  If you have the serial number previous version Acrobat with you, you can enter that screen and it should work.

  you will need serial number of your previous version.  There is no work around.

  There may be ways to recover serial number depending on whether lr5 is currently installed on a computer (old) or you bought lr5 where saved from adobe.
