Assistant printer for HP Photosmart 5520?

I just plugged a newer PC from one office to another to replace a piece of scrap that was Windows XP and does not start. The worker who received the said new workstation says that he had printer Assistant on his old office for its 5520. I made a shortcut to the printer which can then right-click to analyze, but he says that is not what he used to do. Where and how can I get the printer to a 5520 assistant? Download the drivers again?

John-T-1970.

Yes it is, please go ahead and follow the steps below in the order:

1. disconnect the USB.

2. remove the HP Software PS 5520 uninstall from the control panel of your computers an option of the program.

3. restart the computer.

4. make sure that all them that software PS 5520 has disappeared from the list of programs, but also your HP folder listed under all programs in your Start Menu.

5. now, go ahead and download the software and drivers for your PS-5520 (DO NOT connect USB until the software prompts you to):

http://h10025.www1.HP.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=MP-108807-3&cc=us&DLC=en&LC=en&OS=4157&product=5157536&sw_lang=

6. go ahead and print a test page.

7. Please run the HP Print and Scan Doctor- designed by HP to provide users with troubleshooting and problem-solving features needed to solve many common problems encountered with HP print and scan products related to Windows computers.

Now you should see the PS 5520 icon located on the desktop - this is the HP printer Assistant. It worked?

I'll watch for your reply.

Thank you

  • do I need a router to print on my photosmart 5520

I have a 5520 allin hp photosmart printer and it is very difficult to connect it to the radio, I need a router or the printer does not

banhien is right the information he gave to you. I would add a little more to that. The type of connection banhien described is known as an AD-HOC connection. The way in which this subject has been designed, it will remain only on for an hour at a time. This is done to prevent the wireless radio to take the space of connection on the device, it connects too. I recommend to do a wireless router if you do not. It is the better and more stable way to connect to a wireless printer. Here are the instructions for a classic wireless connection. I hope this helps to better answer your question.

  • No double-sided printing for HP Photosmart C309g-m MacBook wireless

I have a MacBook 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo running 10.7.3. My printer is a HP Photosmart Premium C309g-m. When it is connected to the printer via USB, I can select two-sided printing under page layout option and print on both sides. When connected wireless through Time Capsule, the option is grayed out, and he said: it is turned off. I don't have this problem with my MacMini running 10.5.8. The function stop working while I'm running Snow Leopard and I was hoping to go to Lion would settle the matter, but no luck. I uninstalled the software all the HP and removed the printer in the list of printers and re - he added. Any ideas I could try? Thanks for any help you can provide.

Bad luck, sorry.  I see full features for 10.7 software has not yet been published.  You can try the full software functionality for 10.6 for this printer but I think it can cause other problems.  You can always uninstall it if it doesn't work right:

  • Printer jam HP Photosmart 5520 cleared but printer refused to print.

I had a printer jam and allowed as usual. The offending page has been removed and it is together, with no part of it remains in the printer. But the window statement printer keeps saying there is a paper jam and tells me to delete it, and then click OK, and that he refuses to print. I tried to go through the process of 'unlock' again, several times. I have re-charge several times the paper in the tray. I turned off the printer and the computer. I removed the print request in the queue on the computer. I repeated all these actions.  Nothing has made any difference. My operating system is Windows 8:1. Can anyone help please?

    DaCu salvation,

Thank you for answering my questions and have tried the solutions proposed.

This really sounds like a disputed associated hardware, the fact that you have gone through the paper jam guide, and that the printer is unable to make copies. With the printer is in warranty, I would certainly recommend to you please call our technical support at the 800-474-6836. • Printer Photosmart 5520 problem:, I have access to the secure page and cannot open a session

My printer does not print in black. I followed all the instructions to fix it. I can't go down loard that assistance because it is a Vista. I get to the secure page and he asked my name and my password. I am the administrator, but it does not accept my names or passwords and blocking me. What name and password it seeks?

    Hi @arts4pat,

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support!

I see that you get a secure page and that you are unable to print black on your HP Photosmart 5520 e-all-in-one printer. I'd be happy to help you with this.

I like that you get the login screen for the Built-in Web server for the printer. Is this correct? This seems to indicate that someone has put a username and password on the printer, for security reasons. If you don't know what are the connection information, the only way to remove this is to do a factory reset on the device. I can send you this information in a private message. In the forum next to your handle name simply click on the envelope to see.

That being said, I would like to start here. Please, try the steps in this guide, the printer prints blank Page or fact not printing black or color ink for HP Photosmart 5520 and Deskjet Ink Advantage 5520 series e-all-in-one printer.

NOTE: This problem may be caused by problems with the ink cartridge print head or with the printer ink system.

  • PHOTOSMART 5520 WILL NOT PRINT BLACK

I just replaced the cartridges for my PHOTOSMART 5520.

After that, color printing has no black color.

All HP cartridges are not new.

    It's very frustrating.

for some unknown reason, this problem is gone when I tried printing 2 weeks later.

    To summarize:

    I'm in the United States.

I replaced the 4 cartridges again purchased at HP online.

After that, the black will not print if I choose to print in color.

But if I print in "black and white only", black is in fact works very well.

I tried everything suggested in the web forum such as cleaning, alignment, prower AC cycle,... etc. He has not fixed the problem.

I stop using the printer for 2 weeks. But yesterday, I try agin, then the problem is gone.

I don't know what to say. Thanks to HP for assistance.

Overall, the servie is nice - just called him several times.

  • HP Photosmart 5520: HP Photosmart 5520 suddenly will not print or scan

Suddenly is no longer able to scan or print on HP Photosmart 5520. With the scan function I use scanning to e-mail, but, after long 'Preparation scanning' on the screen of the printer, the error message "temporarily unavailable.  "Please try again later". With the impression that I use Google Cloud Print (from an Acer Chromebook) and all that happens is that the demand to print everything ends up in a queue of print jobs.  No error message appears on the printer screen. The copy function works fine.  Wireless network printing results are very good.  The printer worked fine for over a year.  Can anyone help?  Thanks in advance.

Thanks a lot for taking the time to answer.

It's all very mysterious, but it seems to have corrected itself.  Finally, the 'out of paper' error message appeared yesterday (there were many), I pushed in the paper and things started to print again.  I was also able to rescan.  Not sure if she was no longer a problem of Google or what but we are in service again.

    Thank you very much!

    Dear HP

I used to be able to print from my iPad, iPad Mini, iPhone 5 c or iPhone 5 for my PhotoSmart 5520 using AirPrint. No more.

    I can:

    1. see and print from my Mac Pro and iMac

    3. see and configure the printer through the AiO Remote iPad app!

    What the hell?

    I have:

    1. updated the firmware of the printer to the last update available here: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?cc=us&lc=en&product=5157536

2 past by the "how AirPrint on using Apple wireless network" document found here

    Still no luck!

What is the solution guys? How are you going to fix this?

Looking forward to your prompt response.

I guess that the printer is connected wireless to the airport?  You've restarted the airport by pulling its plug momentarily?

  • Photosmart 5520:5520 won't print black

    Hello

I just installed all new cartridges (they are real HP). But it does not print black.

I went so all the help which is suggersted in the forum. But, no luck.

I think that the print head is probably bad.  I spent about $70.00 for four cartridge 564XL.

I'm too lazy on the purchase of a new black cartridge.

Also, when I try to scan the alignment page, it says not found alignment page.

It's more than 3-4 years. So, I probably need to buy a new.   HP maintenance tool detects any problems.

I just wish I have not wasted $70.00 for the cartridges.  A new HP printr costs less than...

    Kind regards

    Sery

  • Photosmart 5520 (but also others) duplex printing cleared at the bottom

Very recently, I bought a Hp Photosmart 5520 and I found that sometimes the bottom of a page is cut off when printing double-sided. I looked in this forum and found that this problem is hardware related and can not be solved, but there are solutions. I did a few tests with my current setup and I want to share my discoveries, here for other users waiting for HP to add a FAQ for the photosmart 5520 entry. (but also for the 6520 and 7520, probably)

The problem is clearly stated in a few messages, dating from September 2013 and Nov 2013, although it is not very easy to find

    http://h30434.www3.HP.com/T5/other-printing-questions/duplexing-discrepancy/m-p/2470573/highlight/tr...

    http://h30434.www3.HP.com/T5/scanning-faxing-and-copying/double-sided-printing-is-cut-off-short-Phot...

Basically, the margin of the low printable area is 3mm side simple impression, while it is 15mm (at least!) for the first page, double-sided printing. This is due to the fact that the printer must keep the paper in the output roll after that that he finished printing the first page. It is therefore IMPOSSIBLE to duplex - print a document with text or graphics that extends beyond the margin of the lower 15 mm, unless the page size is reduced so that the effective bottom margin is 15 mm. On the other hand, if the document does not contain text or graphics beyond bottom margin of 15 mm it CAN be printed double-sided without reduction.

IMHO, the problem is that the default behavior of the firmware of the printer, the drivers of operating system and/or applications do not always properly address this limitation leading to surprising or unsatisfactory results.

To better understand the limits and behavior of the printer, I have carried out tests under the following conditions:

    (1) copy 2-sided vs 1-side in the printer display

    (2) Windows 7 applications: Word2010, Foxit PDF reader, Acrobat PDF reader

    (3) 4.3 android: Cloud Print and HP ePrint apps

The firmware in the printer is MGP5CN1351AR (Sep 12, 2013)

The windows version of printer drivers is 28.8 (October 30, 2012)

For tests 2 and 3, I have prepared a document word of 2 pages with headers and footers located exactly at 15 mm of margin top and bottom of the page and I have produced a PDF with CutePDF (unfortunately this forum does not allow attachments, otherwise I would have attached it).

    The results were as follows

    (1) in 2-sided copy the last 15 mm on part and on the other copy of the output are empty, even if the text of the content entry page, while, in 1-sided copy only the last 3 mm are empty (resizing is turned off, of course)

    (2) double-sided printed of Word2010 gives a duplexer not resized when the printing preferences, advanced options, "Arrangement" is disabled. If it is set on, the output is reduced. Print PDF files is tricky: there are several different options in Foxit PDF and acrobat PDF. Auto-Centre and adjustment - on the page to print double-sided, but do not keep the right size in Foxit PDF reader; If preserve layout is off a significant part of the bottom of the page is not printed, apparently due to the fact that the margins are not properly managed by foxit PDF. Acrobat PDF instead, leave a good impression both sides preserve the page layout and scaling are disabled (obviously up to 15 mm).

    (3) android Cloud Print prints the word and pdf files WITHOUT a provision to 'preserve', this is why some clipping may occur; HP ePrint prints two word files and pdf reduced in size, as if "preserve layout" option has been set.

In summary, I'll leave the "preserve layout" options always on in windows and I'll take a cut on the side of double-sided printing and I use hp eprint instead of cloudprint. If the correct size is important to a PDF file, it is best to experiment with Acrobat PDF (even if it is not a light program). iI would be expected at HP improved the behavior of the windows printer drivers to print a PDF file.

I hope that this post may be useful to other people.

You are right, that the effective page size is reduced because of the extra margins required to manage the document in automatic duplex mode.  From the rear is donated in the printer from the bottom and bottom printed in the top margin is also higher top for the back to the front.

The checkbox 'Keep the page layout' is important for results appropriate, although it will reduce the effective print size.

I've seen reports before of Foxit PDF printing problems, I avoid and use Adobe Reader.
