• BB10 Alpha device not for Linux

  Hi guys! I got a camera of Alpha BB10 of the Jam. Barcelona

  I use Kubuntu Linux x86_64.

  When I connect Alpha device using the USB port, a device screen tell me about the installation of drivers, but only for Windows or Mac. Kubuntu detect device as an audio CD, but cannot climb.

  This means that I can't use Alpha device under Linux, only for Windows or Mac?

  I found that its really the USB auto detect which merges in Linux.

  For detection of basic working properly, I just go into the config 'Storage & sharing' menu and change the option "USB connection" to "Auto detect" to "connect to Windows.  Now, every time I plug the device you in a Linux machine picks it up very well.

  FYI, the USB connection is basically IP - on USB.  This is not different from WiFi, except to work a bit more smoothly.

  When you enable the 'development' Mode, your computer will probably be re - detect the device to a different (and essentially constant) IP: 169.254.0.1

  PS I do all my development on Linux work, when possible.  (there are a few preview QML bugs that occur mainly on Linux, which could lead me to go to a Windows box instead of temporarily screwing with my video drivers, but it's really just a question when DIY/prototyping UI bits)

  Device Manager indicates that it is connected, but the desktop program can not find the device to reinstall the software.

• "Alpha device blackberry 10 dev program ended? What's wrong?

  Today, after I turned on my dev alpha device I've seen this screen, I could not get into the operating system, what to do? ALSE satisfy everybody do this?

  

  Others have had this problem this week.

  What has worked for others is to close and restart your DevAlpha device, and the message must clean up.

  Some had to do this several times.

  Don't forget, these devices have been set for a 'dead' date which was extended until the end of this year.

  Just picked up the BB10 peripheral Alpha to KW jam yesterday, but were unable to connect to DM on Mac to get the update. Everyone knows this?

  Error message: unable to connect with this device... bla blah blah blah the BlackBerry Desktop Software and gives me the opportunity to try again or repair (tried both, without going...)

  Here are a few interesting lines, that I pulled on logs of DM:

  The unit on and fits perfectly and didn't do anything for her, beyond setting up wifi and connecting with BBID. I also tried different combinations of device/macbook reboots, DM uninstall/reinstall, repair of the appliance, by changing the type of USB connection, activating/deactivating the mode of development.

  I didn't have the patience to raffi, and for a reason, even on Windows, DM takes forever to connect and show me the device password prompt. Also, the hit reboot-time-connected wouldn't show me more the repair option.

  I finally managed to update with what follows (in Win7):

  • DM start
  • Make sure that Dev Alpha is off and plug in USB
  • now, DM very quickly now detects and shows me the repair dialog box
  • go through the process of debrick, as documented
  • then repeat the steps above after delporte

  Something like 1.5hrs later, I finally had my device up to date!

  1. do you have HTC Manager installed on the computer?

  2. have you tried it with different USB ports?

  You need the HTC Sync HTC phone Manager software.

  Method 1: Try again with different USB ports and see if that helps.

   

  Method 2: If HTC Sync is installed, if you get the message "no device connected" in HTC Sync, ensure that your phone USB setting is changed to "Charge Only" to "HTC Sync".

  If the methods above do not help, you can contact HTC for additional help.

  Any old copy of Windows XP that could be installed in the host system? If you do not, it should be available at a modest price of an online seller. Perhaps (I'm not too), even an old Windows 98 TO work. The game (using a 3D engine) will not work under pure DOS, so you need a Windows environment so that it can work. Just FYI: If you get this old classic to run, new issues may arise. Known are the "mss32.dll" runtime error (you may need to replace this file with the newer version of SW:KOTOR 1) and the issue of video cutscenes (the games uses an obsolete video codec, Smacker - either you find an old *.) DLLS for it or have you convert movies in a modern format).

  In conclusion: get old games to run on software/hardware modern (it is not only a problem of BONE) is one of the most fascinating and rewarding challenges to a real fan. But do not expect it will not be easy "out of the box" (or simply insert a CD).

  I wanted to use the PC sleep function.
  I also wanted to as devices that have been extinguished when in stand by.

• My devices connect only to an airport machine

  I have two extremes of the airport, which connects to my modem and creates a network and one which runs the network. However, all of my devices are connected to the Airport Extreme that creates the network. What I am doing wrong? They are on different floors of the House and appear to be configured correctly, but the devices that sit on adjacent to the Airport Extreme, extension of the network does not connect to it. I know your supposed to have an Airport Extreme and multiple Airport Express, but we already had the old (4th gen. I think) Airport Extreme, so we decided to use it. Thank you!

  There is no difference between express and extreme to extend...

  However if you started near the main AE... you must turn off the wireless and then turn it back on... and it needs to connect to the Extender.

  Unless you have a problem in the configuration.

  Post screenshots of airport utility and we see what happens...

  Remember, if the signal is bad for the AE on the upper floor... It can transmit a signal any better than that. So if the client devices connect ok the Repeater is in the wrong place.

  You will be able to upgrade the BlackBerry 10 Dev Alpha with a future beta version of the Desktop Manager.  So far we did not an OS for BlackBerry 10 Dev Alpha update.  Please see the instructions supplied with your dev alpha for the procedure on registration for the beta program of BlackBerry Desktop Manager.

  I recently bought an external hard drive and I can't connect my computer's hard drive. (Toshiba Canvio basics 3.0 - 2, 0 to/To - Usb 3.0 and 2.0)

  There is a pop up message saying that the device has been installed, but when I go to 'my computer' hard drive does not appear.

  Does anyone have suggestions on how this can be corrected? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  I thought that I should add a little more information...

  I tried to access the device on a computer, 2 notebooks, 2 TV and an Xbox, so it seems that the hard drive is the common problem.
  In addition, the drive appears in device under disk drivers Manager and he said that the hard drive had no problem but I can not access the hard disk.

  I put t know why this happens, but it has to do with the BIOS.
  The same thing happened on my old laptop. I couldn't start my unit while the USB printer has been turned on and connected.
  The only solution is to disconnect the external USB device during the boot process.

  RSY you should check if the order of boot in the BIOS has been on the HARD drive first.

  Yes, the optical port of the TV would be able to sound output from devices connected using HDMI connection. Make sure that the settings on the source device is set to 5.1 surround sound output.
