Check if the following makes a difference.

Do a right-click the speaker icon in the taskbar, and select playback devices.  Right click 'Speakers and headphones' (or speakers/HP), and then select Properties.  Select the Advanced tab, and then remove the check box "allow applications to take exclusive control of this device."  Click apply and then click Ok to save this change.

Restart the laptop.

    Hey @mjmorse00,

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support!

I understand that you have some problems with the all-in-one printer Officejet J6480 after reinstaling on your Windows 7 PC. I can help you with that.

To start, make sure that the printer is plugged directly into a wall outlet, not a surge protector. Once done:

    1. If the printer is connected to the printer via a USB cable, remove it.
    2. Close any programs you have open.
    3. Click on start and open devices and printers.
    4. Right-click on any icon of your printer listed.
    5. Click on remove the instrument.
    6. Repeat for any other icon of your printer listed.
    7. If you removed the USB cable, connect.
    8. Click on add printer and select your printer from the list.
    9. On the screen that asks you to select a driver for your printer, find the driver for Deskjet 9800.
    10. Continue adding a print to your printer queue.

Please let me know if that solves your problems. If so, please click on accept solution. If you appreciate my help, please click on the thumbs up icon. The two icons are below this post.

  • HDMI sound has stopped working - dv9266ea

    Hey!

I have a laptop dv9266ea with WinVista Home Premium and a few 1-2 months ago my sound does not work as it should. We used to be able to plug the laptop to our TV using a HDMI cable and change the sound default and everything was good, but now we have not any sound at all more. Photo is excellent as usual.

Are more people who has the same problem, so it might be because of some update somewhere here? Or anyone knows of another solution?

Never mind. Swedish support couldn't give me an answer. American support couldn't give me an answer. 2 times I had the mother exchanged at just 1.5 years (the last time they destroyed the volume controls and said that they didn't fix it for me, even if they one wrecked at HP), and my brother had his mother traded 3 times on a similar model.

HP seems to suck. I'm going to buy a new laptop to mark another in a few weeks and then it goes in the trash. I lost the way a lot of time and money because of all it's flaws and time away for repair.

Solution: Trash and get another brand.

  • HP envy 15-j185nr: HP envy 15 SimplePass has stopped working

I recently came across a problem with my original wireless card, you have the card replaced and now links to the internet fine, but when I was in the process or to find the problem, I used the restore option that uninstalls programs and saves files, but essentially restores the computer to factory default.

My HP SimplePass stopped working after I did, and when I try to reinstall it, it is impossible to recognize that my laptop has a fingerprint reader.

My product number is E324UA #ABA and model number 15-j185nr, hope that this is enough to find what is the question.

    Try the version: 8.01.11 - May 4, 2014

  • HP Envy 5530: HP Envy 5530 billboard has stopped working

My 5 month old HP Envy 5530 e - all-in - one control/display is no longer display for print/copy/scan options.  It is empty when the power is on and turns "off" after that the printer is turned on for a few minutes.  This occurred immediately after I installed a new black ink cartridge, as it is shown on the display.  I was able to print a test page for my laptop wireless and the printer works properly.  I checked the function of the printer for troubleshooted and driver and software updates.  Once again, all are installed correctly and working properly.  I turned off the printer for an hour before you turn it back on, but it does not solve the problem.

    Hi @amm0716,

I'd love to help you with your 5530 envy. I realize, according to your description, that the disply panel just doesn't work and it already has, but I wonder, you have the printer connected directly to a wall outlet or is a surge protector or power bar? Even if you have used a surge protector/power bar this whole time and you feel that this is not the case, please connect to a wall outlet so that we can eliminate the source of energy as the primary cause.   Questions when it is connected to an uninterruptible power supply/Strip/surge protector power

In this document, you will see, QUESTION: questions or problems may arise when a HP LaserJet printer is connected to a UPS (UPS), a power strip or a surge protector

I know that you said you turned off the printer for about an hour, but have you tried a hard reset?

To do this, leave the printer and unplug the power cable for 1 minute. While it is unplugged, press and hold the power button on the printer for 10-15 seconds to release built his power, then after the minute, plug the printer in.

  • My HP Envy touch screen has stopped working after an update of the HP Bios yesterday

Can someone tell me please how to fix my touch screen. I got an HP BIOS update which caused my touch screen to stop working. I tried to re - calibrate the it, but it does not accept my contact telling me that the screen is no longer enabled.

I tried to find where to turn them on and couldn't find where to enable touch of the finger. I also tried looking for driver updates and driver seems to be up-to-date.

    Thank you

I have another type of TouchSmart, but this may work for you:

    1. Press Windows + X logo (if you are using a Windows computer 8 - If Windows 7, click the Start button, type Device Manager and click on Device Manager in the results of research).
    2. Select Device Manager from the list.
    3. Click on the small arrow next to Interface devices to expand the list.
    4. Click the touchscreen driver (in my case, Voltron NextWindow touch screen).
    5. Right click and select Activate from the list.
    6. Click Yes if a dialog box asks if you are sure you want to activate the touch screen driver.

On some models, it is unclear which device in the checklist of the touch screen. I read in other posts that some people have solved the problem by disabling and then re-enabling each device.

If this does not work, you could try to go to hp.com (http://www8.hp.com/us/en/support-drivers.html) and click on driver downloads &.
In the search field, enter your product name or number, and then click OK. Select your operating system from the drop down list under Select your operating system, and then click Next. If there is no graphic driver available under Select a download below, click on the plus sign next to the driver - graphics, and then click the name of the driver. In the information and download options window, click Download. Follow the instructions on the screen to download the driver. Restart the computer.

  • Sound has stopped working after the installation of the new system of cooling for cpu

I recently installed a Corsair H55 liquid cooling device that works successfully, but after starting my computer, the sound does not work. I checked the sound Manager, and it says that my speakers are not connected (which they are). I plugged them properly with the plug in the light-green connector. I tried to plug in the façade that does not work either. Other speakers and the headset will not work too well on either front or back. The sound Manager will not confirm that anything is plugged and it wont let me click on anything to set it up. Is it possible that I have damaged the sound card and damaged the box of the connector on the motherboard? I tried a lot of things without success. Help, please!

  • Sound has stopped working, except with Skype

    Hi all.

Suddenly, my sound from the internet (YouTube, etc.) and Windows Media Player doesn't work. All diagnoses show that everything is fine. The only time where the sound work is when someone calls me or I call someone on Skype, but only after I take the call or the other party doesn't - I hear the rings on incoming or outgoing calls.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you.

    Hello

1 did you software/hardware changes to your computer before this problem?
    2. what exactly happens when you try to play a media file on windows media player? It display any error message or just play the multimedia file without sound?

Try these steps, one by one, and look for the question.

Step 1: Since the question has recently started I suggest you to perform system restore on your computer.
    Reference: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/What-is-System-Restore

Step 2: If you are still having the same problem then, check if the problem persists in the clean boot state.

Put your boot system helps determine if third-party applications or startup items are causing the problem.

Try the procedure described in step 1 in the section below to put your computer in clean boot mode.
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

Step 3: Also, look for the Red or yellow bangs in Device Manager and send back the same.

  • Sound has stopped working

You do not have a sound device installed on your computer error ID = 0xC00D11BA, Condition ID = 0x00000000

Hi Philip, this problem could be solved on ways to couple

    1. simple would be first to a hard reset.

which means that you turn off your computer, completely remove the codes of power connected to the computer and make sure that there is not food at all, once you have confirmed there is no power input

Press the power button on your computer for 30 seconds

This process eliminates the problems caused by the temporary memory and power glitches,

    2. If the above has not resolved the problem, you can try to execute this file automated by Microsoft which will detect any possible licensing and you provide a resolution

Run the fixit tool mentioned in the link below and check if that can help diagnose the problem.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/GP/NO_SOUND

    3. another Option, you can try is to uninstall the driver of sound card in Device Manager and restart your computer for the driver to map its install automatically
