I finally unplugged/replugged the computer and, so far, is fine.  What has gone wrong?  Thank you.

    Hello mamassey,

I'd love to be able to tell you with complete certainty what happened, but we probably won't. The fact is sometimes programs everything works perfectly and cause errors and glitch.

If the problem continues to happen as every time that you run the Support assistant it freezes and causes issues, then we have a problem, now that we have just a random appearance of a program of 100% working perfectly.

The steps I've tried: uninstallation with Revouninstaller, resettlement, reset

    @troubleshoot411, welcome to the forum.

I agree with using Revo.  This is my go to app for malware.  When you used Revo, you use the advanced option?  This will not only remove the program from the HARD disk, but it removes remnants of the BIOS.  If this is not the case, this could be the problem.  I suggest to try the advanced option to remove HPSA and shut down the computer.  Then, start and reinstall HPSA here.

  • Should I Uninstall HP Support Assistant? If this is not the case, how to manage settings?

Hi, new and first post so I'm not sure if this is the appropriate place, I hope that someone will tell me otherwise.  Have computer laptop Pavilion G72 9 months with OS Win 7.  I was wondering if I can uninstall HP Support Assistant on it (not really computers does) so that it won't keep coming and wanting to do things - or me for them, do on the computer?  I'm not entirely sure that it's a necessary software and will occupy the space and not something there.  Would really appreciate if someone can advise on this please, thanks in advance for your help.

  • H9-1245eo: update of inauthentic HP support assistant?

There are about two hours that I was just browsing by chance youtube, one flashed black control top box to the left of my screen. Quickly, I open my task manager and saw that my cpu was used by an unknown program. The program isn't there anymore so I don't remember exactly what his name was, but I vaguely remember having the word "windows" in it, but also a form of the word "restoration" or maybe another word that was similar to it. Everything went pretty fast.

I happened to have my office to the top at the moment, and coincidentally, I noticed that right now my office was being changed somehow. At this point, I have a dialog box in the lower right corner of my screen of the hp support assistant telling me to restart the computer and asking me if I want to do it now or if I want to do later. Assistant support on my tray icon had now changed color to a light shade of blue. As I looked closely at my desktop icons, I noticed that the icon hp support assistant had changed to a light shade of blue there as well. By clicking on one of the icons some results in the dialog box opening upward again. Looks like HP support assistant had installed an update on my computer without prior guest or indication he did so beforehand. Is this normal? Is - this as well updates from HP support assistant are supposed to work? Nothing like that's never happened before.

I got a little worried, so I scanned my computer with malwarebytes and Eset nod32 antivirus, but none of them gave no results. I'm just being paranoid here, or is there something dubious going? For more information, HP support assistant is listed as having been installed today when looking at more in the sections "Add/Remove Programs", echoing 69.7 MB. I also noticed that there is a restore point created at the time of installation which confirms that the restore point would the following program: "HP support assistant 8.1.40.3.

Here is a picture of new icons, as well as the dialog box that appears when you click on it (it's in Swedish):

    @GreenMario3000

It seems that your HP Support Assistant updated itself the previous 6.x / 7.x version to the newer format HPSA 8.x

With this new configuration of the HPSA program, you earn a few troubleshooting information - and you lose the ease of development in the older HP Support Assistant that so many people have used over the years.

    Why the tune-up's?

No idea - HP does not consult with me on politics internal.  The smile.

Firstly, uninstall your current version of HP Support Assistant using Microsoft 'Fixit' at the following link: this is particularly useful for correcting problems that may prevent resettlement on the machines running a 64 bit OS.

Control Panel > display icon > programs and features >

Scroll down, find and uninstall HP Support Assistant.

  • Slimline Office 260-a020: Win7 on a Win10 computer: warranty and HP Support Assistant

About ready to take my new machine to & Geek Squad to pay $100 to the level of Win10 to Win7 (got new drive Home Premium & key, also downloaded 7 and make an ISO image in the hope of saving hours install all updates when I thought I was going to do it myself and try).  Two questions:

This isn't a return to upgrade Win10, this is a native Windows 10 machine. Is this likely to void my warranty?

And I'll always be able to use HP Support Assistant, or he's going to focus on my system and say

"OMG, this crazy needs new drivers" and then send me Windows 10 drivers thinks that his place on this machine?

    Hello:

It is a peer to peer forum, so we can only give you our unqualified opinion about warranty information.

It used to be written information online on warranty information.  I can't find anything relevant to your question more.

From what I read in the past, you will cancel the software warranty as you install an operating system not supported.

This means that if you have a problem with Windows or the programs installed on the PC, HP will be asked to reinstall W10 before moving on to troubleshoot the PC under warranty.

Install W7 should not void the warranty of equipment.

I do not use the HPSA myself, but it does not scan your PC and recommends W10 drivers.

The safe thing to do would be to have it notify you of updates but not automatically install the.

Do not leave it on autopilot (automatically download and install updates).

  • Two Pavilion computers: HP Support Assistant Server error

Two Windows 10 machines fully patched and works perfectly.  It is three months, the other four months old and up to date to win 10 version 1511.  HP Support Assistant worked very right up until two or three days ago.

On both machines, if I check the version of product updates, HPSA scans for a minute or two and then warns the following-'server connectivity issues were found.  Please try again later. "If I have HPSA will search for messages and updates, nothing happens except that the analysis runs and runs indefinitely.  If you stop the scan, closed HPSA but then re - will not open unless the computer is restarted.

HP may have a server problem, judging by some of the other jobs on HPSA and scanning.  However, this type of problem has developed before (years), and that could be a problem of jamming one of the newest latest updates Windows or Windows Defender antivirus definitions.

I haven't the time to uninstall the updates to solve problems.  I leave alone HPSA and see if that sorts it.  If this isn't the case, HPSA can always be uninstalled.  You can get updates from the driver through Device Manager.

Very busy at work.  I'll check in a few days to see if someone has something new to report.

    Dave

Just ran Support Assistant on two pavilions.  Connected to the server to check updates and device updates and messages.  Worked well.  In my case, the question seems to have been resolved - to that for now.

  • Office using Intel h8 - 1520t with special configuration problems with HP Support Assistant 8.1

Several days ago the wizard help notified me that I had to do an update review. It was an update Broadcom Bluetooth of a certain type. He had numbers, a slash and more after him.  I installed it.  He went through all the steps of installation, but not the last step.  Now, I get an error whenever I start up the computer indicating that BTtray.exe does not load and btwapi.dll is not found.  Initially, I had Windows 8 and upgraded to 8.1 shortly after buying the computer. I have a wireless network adapter N Premium and Bluetooth (R) (2 x 2).  The only wireless thing I use my keyboard and mouse. I don't use Bluetooth, I bought the Bluetooth with my new computer for possible future use. I can't get rid of this message at startup.

In addition, since HP Support Assistant made this mess, I decided to uninstall it. I can't uninstall it.  I tried to reinstall what can or was not perhaps not a newer version and settle, tried to uninstall and couldn't.  The Support Assistant comes with the computer of Windows 8. Now, I can not open HP Support Assistant.

Now comes the Windows Update and it keeps me providing a lot of optional software. I'm now trying all that they offer.

I fixed it without doing a system restore.  I went the SWSETUP and found the original SP, which has installed the HPSA. Since it has been uninstalled in part and partly not. I reinstalled the original who put the MSI available again.  Then, once that he the reinstalled, I used the uninstall found in the same ESP under SWSETUP and removed.  It took everything with it that you had to go and I have no more problems. In addition, I had found HPSA running in the Manager of tasks and Services got deleted as they should have.  Bad installing Bluetooth which began the questions was related to the services that are running.  Because I'm not using Bluetooth, I roamed my computer and stop all the Bluetooth Services running.  I have all service packs, has not deleted because they are not hurt anything sitting there. I have no error message.  I was getting a network message and I do not use a network on my PC and I was getting the error MSI just try to uninstall HPSA.  The MSI error would leap upward when you try to uninstall using the control panel and it is because Windows could do not seem to find this program in the MS file.  The wrong program installed I think was linked to Widcomm, probably a program of Broadcom Bluetooth.   Windows tried to use 13c4ce.msi from the windows file to uninstall through Control Panel.  It does not work. The following issues have been resolved for btwapi.dll, BTTray.exe, 1316 network error and MSI error.  HPSA does not work in Windows 8.1 Pro 64 bit.  Updates are not correct and I think that it is better to get updates.  Even the online hp scan does not work. Find your computer and peripherals, it fails to find updates for you.   I have my hp printer works very well and set up properly and he always tells me that I need an update that I have.  HPSA would be great if it worked. Interesting that somehow Windows Update picked up that my computer had been messed up and showed two updates that were made some time it y a. I reinstalled and no problem from that. Thank you. I learn to my new hp!

  • HP Support Assistant hangs and then crashes... reinstall does not

Hoping someone can help me find the support Wizard, v7.0.39.15 is not installed.

    I have a HP ENVY 7200 dv6t Select Edition running Windows 8 64 bits; bought 1/2013

Wizard support in the status bar indicates there are updates but if I run the wizard of support:

    • It brings together information
    • Scan your system
    • then always crashes (> 1 hr) on the preparation of the list of actions possibly Windows pops up saying the application responds more... and it stops.

    I tried:

    1. Uninstall from the control panel, download the latest version and reinstall (v7.0.39.15)... same result.
    2. Uninstall via Windows MrFixit for 64-bit systems, reinstalling... same result.
    3. Contact HP Chat... they repeat #1.., same result then tried to disable all unnecessary services... same result.
    4. Ultimately on the cat people asked me to do a restore system... at which point I refused given that all other software on my machine works well... I don't want to nuke my entire machine to fix the support Wizard.

I guess that there are others in a similar situation... ironic that the software that is supposed to help me seems irreparable

    Anyone else have similar problems?

Hey everyone following this thread I found a fix that has my back work support Assistant!

Unfortunately, no help from HP, no fixed but less.

To fix it, I changed the properties to launch Windows 7 compatibility mode and checked the run with administrator permissions. Don't know who did it, don't care really... my HP support assistant is back from work

Here is a screenshot of properties that worked for me

I hope this helps someone else... I got way more that I gave.
