  No, as far as I know it of not possible to use a port on laptops Satellite Pro Replicator.
  All laptops that support the Port Replicator has a port extension at the bottom of the unit.
  To my knowledge, the Satellite Pro series don t have this port.
  For now only the Tecra and some units Protégé(ie: S100) supports this feature.

  I recently bought a laptop Tecra A9/127 to replace an existing HP machine. I used one with the old laptop port replicator to save having to keep Plug and unplug cables all day.

  The new Tecra has built on the port replicator under the machine but I can not find information, parts etc. numbers what are a suitable for this machine port replicator. I asked my provider and they also drew a blank.

  I can always use a port USB duplicator, but it seems strange that the laptop is equipped with a connector, but it doesn't seem to be an available port replicator.

  Has anyone else had this problem or found an another port replicator that works?

• Application of force to use specific ports

  Hi all
  I have an application that uses random ports.  This could be good behind a typical personal router, but is not possible with the current implementation.  The program is an application of video conferencing with Polycom collaboration, and the app is telepresence m100.
  The release notes for m100 indicate a few random ports are used for some protocols.  (See page 21)  Our network firewall device requires a game port assignment and our security protocols do not allow an open machine.  We would also like to use this m100 of telepresence on multiple machines, so a DMZ is not an option.  The application does not allow the user to select specific ports.  Request support with Polycom has been less then helpful (answer: it uses a random port).

  So here I wonder if there is a way on XP or 7 to force an application to use ports or range of ports, perhaps 4-5 assigned ports, not 65535.  The nature of the beast requires several ports open, not one.  Also, remote machines will have the same configs, so one of these machines could initiate/receive calls with all the others.

• The use of Port profiles

  My understanding of the use of port profiles includes the implementation of the Nexus 1 K / 5K, etc. and the implementation of VM - FEX correct? These port profiles are then pushed to vCenter to be used by the unloading of the virtual machine networking UCSM portion and not the VM admin... Is this correct?

  N1k/N5k/UCS VM - FEX port-profiles are used by the network & the VMware administrator.  The network administrator creates the port-profile & affects properties (VLAN, QoS, ACLs, etc.)-available functions differ on each product with N1k offering the most features.  After the port-profile is to create it is automatically published in vCenter.  The admin of vCenter then assigns port-profiles to VM and vmnic interfaces.  This essentially separates the roles of administrator network & system so that each person can focus on their area of expertise.

  Port-profiles are also available on stand-alone N5k/N7k to be used when the interface models when you do not turn on with VMware.

  I am trying to determine if you have a 2-gig Layer 3 Port channel through a 4260 IPS appliance. See the attached diagram. Is this possible?

  The customer, I work with would prefer not to enter this cost equal to Port-Channel 1 gig of links (I don't think that there is a difference in performance...) However, I think that if they want the device inline, as the diagram shows - they will have to break the port-channel. Is this a correct assumption?

  Asymmetric traffic will prevent the sensor works best, he is capable. There is a configuration that can be done to allow the detector deployed in an asymmetrical environment, BUT it can affect the ability of the sensor to detect attacks, allows through evasions which would have been prevented and will not affect general performance of the sensor.

  If running in unbalanced mode should be avoided if possible. BT in cases where it cannot then the sensor always allows with degraded functionality.

  Traffic spikes above what the sensor can manipulate at will cause ignored packets. There is no help for too much traffic.

  The relief you talk I guess is the bypass function. The bypass feature does not affect during the subscription of the sensor. The bypass feature will only kick if the analytical engine crashes due to a bug.

• Tecra M11-LaTeX runs slow on external monitor using Express Port Replicator

  I am having trouble with my Tecra M11 with an external monitor, through an Express Port Replicator II.

  It is very accurate, but I am running texlive 2010 on my laptop to write a thesis. Whenever I use my laptop screen feature is very good, and it works very fast, no lag when I compile my document. As soon as docking it into my docking station at work to use it on a big screen, whenever I use the same program, it slows down a lot, finally causing the crash program. Its frustrating to lose a lot of your thesis like this! When I connect the external monitor directly to the laptop, it works fine again.

  Something goes wrong in the docking station. Anyone know how I can fix this? Im a little confused and ideas. Maybe I pilot or something im unaware of. My docking station is maybe defective?

  Port replicator port on which do you use? VGA or DVI?

  It won't be easy to provide the answer to your question. It is not possible to test all the software available with docking station and research solutions.
  I would say: bad luck.

  I have problems with my Mail app, so I'm systematically review all parameters. Noticed that the port of the outgoing server is different on Mac, iPhone and iPad. Is this normal, or they are all should be the same for an e-mail account given?

  They should be identical, unless you use different protocols or of the security mechanisms on each device as a pop on a device and IMAP on another device or by using ssl for connection and tls for another. Check all the settings not only ports.

  Depends on used Tecra A9, if you can get a picture on the DVI port on the Express Port Replicator (PA3508E-1PRP) or not.
  The DVI port on the on the Port Replicator Port Express is supported only on computers with graphics card ATI or nVidia.
  If you have a DVI INTEL graphics card port on the on the Express Port Replicator only is NOT supported.

  I ve you have a problem with a Tecra S1 Notebook and Port Replicator III. When I anchor the portable station, it turns off immediately. It doesn´t so serious I m in Windows or not. The same notebook works in a Port Replicator II without any problem. My first thought was, the Replicator III may be damaged, but I tried with an another Tecra S1 and it worked! Can someone help me with this?

  AFAIK that should not be any problem as Tecra can be used with the two PRs. The only thing I can recommend is to reinstall the Toshiba Mobile Extensions.

  I'm confused. There is no way Garland DVI - D to DVI - I to a single HDMI port on the monitor? IF that's what you think.

  I'm using straight cables. But PCs cannot ping each other.

  I guess you are using adapters TNC, you also provide a CSOS before you can create the UDC.

  Does anyone know if all the ports on the SG300 52 can be used? Or allowing a link rising port SFP neutralizes an access port?

  I know sometimes under the hood that the SFP ports share the same hardware that 4 last access ports so they are mutually exclusive, but I can find no record of the architecture of these switches.

  Hi Tom,

  Yes, G51 and G52 ports are ports combo with SFP slots. FPS has a higher priority, so RJ - 45 would be disabled if you connect miniGBIC on port next to him.

  Data sheet contains information about ports combo. If you have a switch in front of you there is a feature on ports which basically says that it is a common interface.
