OfficeJet 6500 black ink

I have a HP Officejet 6500 wireless that does not print color only black ink

Solutions/similar problem?

Recently did it start?

Did you recently change a cartridge?

I also try to take the cartridge from the printer and make sure that the air holes are open.  In addition, make sure that electrical contact is clean on the cartridge and the printer print head.

There are a document, as well, with steps to help solve a problem of print quality in the Officejet 6500 E709n wireless.  The document can be found here.

If you get to step on replacing the printhead, then there need determine if the printer is under warranty.  That it is an E709n, I guess that it is out of warranty.  If you are out of warranty, then you still have a few options in this case.

(1) we can try the workaround provided by Bob_Headrick in the thread found here.

(2) you can also buy the print head from HP for the E709n parts store.  The part number for the print head is CN643a for the Officejet 6500 E709n wireless.  The print head sells currently for about US $70.

(3) you can buy a new printer.  This option would be accompanied by a new full factory warranty.

I hope this helps.

  • OfficeJet 6100: Black ink printing

I have a yellow cartridge empty but want to print in black ink only 90% satisfied with my printing needs.

The manual here says 32-33 pages that the printer will print black if there is enough color ink in the print head, but once the ink has run out completely the cartrdige will need to be replaced.

HP and other printer manufacturers have technology another printer for different needs.  For ink jet printers:

      • Some have integrated into the ink cartridges print heads.  These printers can print generally with one or more of the colors completely empty, or even with color or black cartridges (but not both) removed. Deskjet 6980 series is an example, or for an all-in-one, check the Deskjet 2540.
      • Other printers have separate replaceable printheads and inks.  An example would be the printer Officejet 6100.  In these printers print head can be replaced if they are damaged by running the printhead with colors off.  Some of these printers allow printing with a color, the other will not.  If the printer is run without ink in one or several colours, the printer may be damaged, but the user may be able to recover without having to send to the printer for the service.
      • Other printers have permanent print heads.  To run only those without little ink in all colours would risk causing damage to the print head because of clogs, air ingested in the printhead or grilled printhead resistances of shooting. The Officejet 6700 is an example of this type of printer. For printers with fixed print heads that could require the service to get the printer to print properly again when the ink is finally replaced.

The document described here how the ink is used.  While the document is written for inkjet printers HP the same principles apply to the other manufacturers.print but especially black color inkjet printers printer IPH as those in the first category above can be a good choice.

  • OfficeJet 6700 Premium: HP Officejet 6700, black ink fades

I had my bonus of 6700 Officejet for over a year, so it's just more under warranty. About 3 days ago, out of the blue, the black ink started fading out if I printed a page with a lot on it. It does the same thing if I copy something. (I'm only printing in black). It acts as the ink runs not to the head, or heads are partially blocked upward. It's a new cartridge, but it worked when I first got him. I cleaned and aligned the head several times, without success. Thing I can do short of buying a new printer?

  • HP Officejet 6500 E709n: HP Officejet 6500 E709n - ink system failure error message.

I have a printer HP Officejet 6500 E709n.  I get the following error message when I turn on the printer:

'Ink system failure.  "Please turn printer off, then on.

I then do as instructed and turn the printer off, but then the whenever I re - turn on the printer, I get the same error again.  The printer is now fixed to the top and none of the buttons on the printer works except the Power button on / off.

Any suggestions on how to proceed?

    Hi @recooke,

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support! I see that you can not use your HP Officejet 6500 Wireless. You get a printer fault to "turn printer off and then on again" you did without success.

    Please perform a hard reset:

    1. disconnect all cables and cards of memory in the printer.  Unplug the power cord, directly from the back of the printer when the printer is still on.

    2. unplug the other end of the power cord.

    3. If there is a power supply on the power cord, disconnect one end and reconnect it.

    4. at the end of 60 seconds, plug it directly into a wall outlet (not a surge protector or battery backup).

    5. connect the power cord to the back of the printer.

    6. the printer should automatically power back upward.  If not, turn it on with the power button.

    7. try to make a photocopy (if your printer is an all-in one) before you connect the cables from the printer.

    8. connect the other cables needed to the printer.

It is recommended that the printer is plugged directly into a wall socket to ensure a uniform level of power.  Sometimes, when plugged into a surge protector or battery backup, the quantity of electricity is not received by the printer.  Power problems can cause printing problems.  It is particularly important to be plugged directly into a wall outlet with wireless connectivity problems, "sleep mode" and other power problems.

    Any change?

  • OfficeJet 4500 black ink

I have an Officejet 4500 G510n-z, all-in-one wireless. yesterday, it was working fine until my daughter tried to print photos. I replaced the black ink cartridge and now I get absolutely no print black at all.  It worked fine when I used it earlier in the day. I tried ALL of the troubleshooting options, and even tried a second cartridge.  Still NOT PRINTING BLACK.  It will not even produce black ink when you make the alignment of cartridges.  Any ideas?  It is more under warranty, purchased in March 2011.  Very saddened by this.

OK, if valuable lesson learned.  USE ONLY THE HP CARTRIDGES.  2 black cartridges tried to use were from an online retailer of "HP compatible ink cartridges.  Just got back from Walmart with a HP cartridge.problem resolved.

What can I do to fix?

    Thank you

  • HP 6500 black ink printing faint

I installed a new cartridge and followed all the steps of cleaning you listed all previous entries; However, nothing I've done seems to help my situation.  I can't quite visible printing black ink.

  • HP Officejet 4630: Black ink is printing half of lines

This is an example of how the documents printed on my printer now. I tried to align my cartrigages three times. It seems that my color cartridge works fine, but it's my black which is not. I reinstalled them both twice and nothing has helped. What is going on?

Type of printer - HP Officejet 430

type of computer - HP ENVY TouchSmart 360 x

The question seems to be an electrical connection between the printer and ink cartridge.  Try printing a test page, as shown below.  Is the black stripe large print only 1/4 or 1/2 of the height of the bars of color?  If so clean the printer and cartridge as shown in the document here contacts can help solve the problem.  Although this document was written for a series of different printers the same principle applies.

If the procedure above does not resolve the problem, I'd say changing the black cartridge.

  • OfficeJet 4620: Black ink cartridge not working not

My printer was out of ink, and I installed the ink cartridges brand new HP-bought a few weeks ago. The type of ink is 564 Xl. The problem is that all of the color ink prints well, but black, we do not print well. When I use 'Best' option printing, the print out comes out like an old carbon copy (light grey and blurry). When I use the 'project' print quality, nothing prints at all. The printer recognizes that there is ink in the cartridge, but something is happening which is obstructing the way ink is printing.

  • OfficeJet 6500 black vertical streaks

    Hello

I just bought this printer and I keep getting a small, not always to the same place, black vertical streaks on the printed page. It seems to happen when I use the two-sided printing unit. It will print the streak on the front page - not in the back.

Help would be greatly appreciated (I already tried cleaning cartridges).

    Thank you.

    Hello

It seems that part inside of the unit of the duplex unit took little ink and now is burrs on pages that pass through the duplexer. The best idea is probably to get this duplexer to a service of HP, so it gets cleaned up.

Before that, you can try print a print job duplex of 30 to 40 empty pages and see if this clears the ink.

  • HP Officejet 6500 e709a: ink system failure

I just ordered a new print head due to the failure of the error ink system I get is after exhausting all other avenues that HP offered the extent of troubleshooting.  How HP can justify pricing $75.00 for a printhead on a printer that sells for $150.00 is beyond me, but this is neither here nor there.

My question is this: is it possible to use other functions (scanning, fax) while I wait for the part to arrive?  This is a printer of business and these functions are essential for operations on the day the day.  Beings it is Saturday may save some of the headaches.

    Hello @MattNC79 ,

    I hope you are well!

If the printer is in an error state, like her application the print head must be installed, or there is another message that has the printer, you probably won't be able to perform all the other functions. The best thing to do is try to do what you want to do and see if it works.

I read through the blogs on this and it seems that others have encountered the same problem I'm having.  It is said that my warranty was up in September 2013.  So, I'm not sure where to go from here.  I was hoping someone HP might be able to help me?  I replaced the black cartridge with a genuine HP cartridge and run all the diagnostics.  I really like this printer so, I hope there is a solution to this problem.  Any suggestion would be great.  Thank you!
