OfficeJet 6500-E7709n - cartridge to reactivate 'chip' level of oversight

OK, slap my wrist, I was a bad boy...

I tried to refill the cartridges run out on my OfficeJet 6500 - and no end of trouble.  Yes I know.  Smart move Einstein!  One of the recommendations is to disable monitoring via the menu Preferences (#7) in the configuration of the chip ink level.

I'm sure you can guess, that did not do diddle squat, so now I want to go out & get some genuine HP cartridges.  Before I install them, I want to cancel the mess I made and put things back as they were.

Question: How can I enable this option on YOU?  After turning it off, option has completely disappeared in the Preferences menu.

I tried a "Reset Defaults", but it does not work.  Is there a way to reactivate?  That, in the absence, is there a way, nuke (so to speak), the printer around the age of stone for what is it to its Out-Of-Box State?

Thank you!

Update:

I figured out !

To do this, you must do a Reset of the NVRAM by performing the sequence of steps following:

  1. Turn the printer off using the power button on the front panel
  2. Using two fingers on one hand, press and hold the keys "6" and the "#" at the same time.
  3. With your other hand, press the power button to re - turn on the printer.
  4. Keep pushing on the # and 6 keys until the screen turns off and then turns on again to the top.  Then he will say "Semi NVRAM Reset" - at this time there, you can release the # and 6 keys.  This may take a minute or two.

Once this is done, the printer will go through his routine of initial running "out-of-box" for printing.  In other words, it will attempt to reload the print heads by making several cleaning cycles and will work then a cycle of alignment.

When you do that, you're done.

I hope this helps.

  • HP Officejet 6500 ink cartridge 920, Vista - alignment failed, black ink does not print

I went through the diagnostic process because my printer gives me a view of alignment failed and my black ink will not print.   It is established that I need to replace the print head.  Is it complicated?  What should I do when I need the printer/fax every day?  I have no time for that computer to be down for a day, and even less for as long as it takes to get the part here and replace it myself.  Or worse, if I send to HP to have the work done.

Replacement of the print head is not complicated, it can be done in 5 minutes.  Before doing this, you could be sure that the ventilation openings are not connected and you might try to soak the printhead as shown here.

  • Firefox 3.6.10 allow me to choose a black cartridge only printing one my HP Officejet 6500 (not wireless).

Selector only black cartridge is not active.

    The problem is your printer:

Also, I have the OfficeJet 6500 and had the same problem. Black text was printing with a mixture of colored inks rather than black ink, resulting a gray, fuzzy text. I finally found a solution. In each application under Page Setup, there is an option called "Format for". Mine was created for "any printer". I changed that to "Officejet 6500 E709n [830E4A]" and now it prints black very well. I have a Mac running 10.4.11. I hope this helps.

  • HP Officejet 6500 a Plus: black ink cartridge does not print

I have a HP Officejet 6500 a and have an operating system of Windows 10 on a Dell Inspiron 15R.  The printer does not print any black ink. I have genuine HP cartridges and the black cartridge is about 75% full. It was working properly until this morning. I downloaded your troubleshooting and everything seems fine. I ran the program cleaning head several times, but I can't always get black ink on a page. The other colors are fine. After the second head cleaning, I got a very small black image, but head cleaning has resulted in no black ink. I made sure that the wind had been reached on the cartridge and this problem occurs with wireless and hard wired connections. Time before, it happened and when I replaced the cartridge, it worked. After reading some of the messages on the map, it seems not to be the solution. I also hesitate to throw a cartridge that is only 25% used. Can you help me?

  • OfficeJet 6500 new black cartridge installed, but print Brown (all colors) instead

    Hello

I replaced the black cartridge in my OfficeJet 6500, and clicking on it.  (I triple checked it.)  However, when I try to print a document that is supposed to be any black ink, it prints in a Brown shade as if it is mix inks instead of using black-colored.   I printed a diagnostic page, cleaned and alignment of the heads of print and even restarted the computer and the printer.  Nothing helps!  I am still at work and I have documents that need to be printed!

    Do you have any suggestions?

    Thank you!

What operating system do you have?  For Windows 7, you would go to start, devices and Printerss, right-click on the Officejet 6500 and then select Printing Preferences.  You can change the setting 'document Type' in the tab 'Features', then click on apply.

The above will change the default value.  You can also change the print to a particular print job by selecting the print properties when you go to print.

  • OfficeJet 6500 will not display ink using Windows 7 levels.

I have a HP Officejet 6500, model E709n wireless. My OS is Windows 7 Home Premium Service Pack 1.  I downloaded and installed the drivers and software.  It will scan and print, but responses to double click on the scan and fax buttons is very slow.  It will not show ink levels.  I get a message that the computer cannot communicate with the printer.  The error message also tells me to check that the printer is on and the usb cable is connected.  Since they are obviously related, there is another problem.

When I connected the printer to a computer running Windows XP Professional, everything works fine.

    Does anyone have a solution?

    Hey Bob,

I suggest the doctor printing & scanning HP to see if it is able to solve your problem running. If should be able to recongize any wiring or driver error and solve them for you. If it does not solve the problem, post back with new details and will continue from there.

    Thank you!

  • HP OfficeJet 6500: Is the color cartridge to print in black?

    Hello

I had a brother printer which required that there is ink in the color cartridges even if I only wanted to print in black.  Is the HP Officejet 6500 in the same way?  Is it necessary that it be ink cartridges color, even though I'm only printing in black ink only?

    Thank you

    Westin wrote:

Yes, he does. And it is only to prevent the nozzles of ink on the printheads of evaporation, resulting in poor print quality when you decide to print in color.

  • OfficeJet 6500 will not print black

    Hello

I have an Officejet 6500 AIO which allows to print any color over black. We have already replaced the black toner cartridge, ran an alignment (which failed), and 1st and 2nd printhead level cleaning, with no improvement made. I searched online HP even sells no more replacement for this model print heads, and those that I could find other suppliers cost half the price of a new printer.

Anything else I can try before calling, she leaves and replace the whole unit?

    Thank you

    Dave

If the suggestion of Print_Hint does not resolve the problem, you can try to soak the print head in warm water for a few minutes as described in this post.

  • OfficeJet 6500: Print head cleaning Cycle - why not choose a color?

I'm having a problem with a single color (magenta) print does not correctly. I've had problems before with black. Why the prinhead cleaning cycle does not allow the selection of a single color for cleaning? Why should I lose the other colors of ink when there is only one that needs to be cleaned? I know that HP wants to sell ink, but be reasonable! That I had problems that appear only after you HAVE installed a new ink tank. And it has not shown using a cartridge to power after best-use-by-date. My guess is that if the ink cartridges are not stored properly the use-by-date means nothing.

There are a few components of the automatic cleaning cycles.  There are a set of wiper rubber that moved across the printhead to wipe or scrape debris from the print head.  All wiping little ink is spit of each nozzle to lubricate the wiper and help clear the clogged nozzles. The wiper is built on a unique sled with a motor that moves the wipers back and forth.  Allowing single color cleaning would require a much more complicated mechanical system, with four distinct and motors wipers to control.  (The wipers should be dedicated for each color.  She would cause the nozzle clogging if the black ink is allowed to mix with the color and would cause if different colors used the same color mixing wiper.)

Similarly, for your Officejet 6500, there is a pump system for a more energetic cleaning or for initial priming of printhead.  If it was designed for a single use of color, then a more complicated system, with four independent pumps and controls.

A Mater of reliability and economics, it is not practical to have separated in level printers cleaning cycles.
