Unable to connect my laptop XP Prof on printer Officejet J6450 AIO usb (in network)

Due to some problems of scanning, I have reinstalled my AIO on my USB port of office instead of the old Dell (Windows 7-64) ethernet link. However, I'm unable to connect from my laptop with XP Pro. I downloaded and installed the latest version of the software of full J6450 and can do a test print, but cannot access the printer through the center of Solution, that's why the scanner and other features are not available from the laptop. Also, is anyone know hence the hp software file is extracted to so I can re - run the Setup file?

The IOA has a w/l button, so I'll try an instalation w/l on the laptop.

Hello Tracer_C

Thanks for responding. The error was 'the scan cannot be performed because another program or computer uses... ". "The w/l installation was successful, after that several unsuccessful attempts. (I accept the blame for it). After 2 or 3 tries, I noticed the obligation to connect the printer to the USB port of the laptop to install the drivers. Apres_que the drivers have been installed the software it reset the network, and it does not connect until I plugged in the printer on the desktop).

I thought I could do a no-w/l installation, but it is just as well, because I don't often print the laptop anyway, so I can keep the w/l off on the router function until I need to print from the laptop.

I found the installation for Xp folder: C:\Documens and Settings\Temp\7Z***.tmp\Setup.exe Settings\nom of utilisateur\Local.

  • OfficeJet Pro 8610: Unable to connect 2 laptop HP Officejet Pro 8610

I have 2 HP laptops each with Win7 (64 bit) SP1 and I'm trying to connect to the computer laptop 2nd in an OfficeJet Pro8610 to print wireless.  I tried using the CD rom and download the drivers online but I can connect this laptop to the printer.  I get to a point where the login process requires the printers claim id code but when I enter the code I got a message that this code is already in use (the other laptop is connected wireless) and in order to connect, I have to delete the other laptop.  I am at a loss here because I had both the same laptops connected to my old 6700 OfficeJet and could print without any problem installing wireless at all.

What I'm missing here with the 8610?  Thank you

The code you enter is likely to set up ePrint for the printer address.  Once this has been done it is not necessary to do it again.

An alternative is that the laptop is connected directly to the printer with direct wireless wireless.  In this case, you will need to disconnect the laptop computer from the printer to use the other laptop.

A better configuration would be to connect the printer to your router wither wireless or cable LAN cable.  It would give the IP address which you can find by pressing the front panel of the printer to the printer (if the printer is in mode "sleep"), then tap the wireless at the bottom of the screen.  This will bring up the LAN wireless status, where you can find the IP address of the printer.

You should be able to set up the printer with the driver available at http://www.hp.com/go/toolsinstallation wizard.

  • Unable to connect the laptop to the printer in a home network

I just installed a HP Pavilion dv4 laptop, running windows 7 (64 k) and a router Linksys E-1000 of wireles in my home network, consisting of an HP pavilion a6150y desktop, running MS Vista Edition home premium (32 K), to which a HP Photosmart C4280 printer is connected via a USB port. All internet and e-mail functions work perfectly across the home network, except that I can't print from the laptop to the printer. I understand that the C4280 should function as a print server through the Desktop, but I can't print from the laptop. Heterogeneous operating systems cause inability to print from the laptop? Any suggestions?  The laptop has no problems printing to the C4280 when connected directly via a USB cable to the printer.
Troubleshooting: I ran across the network installation procedure, but nothing helped. The printer has never worked since installation of network components House (e-100 of Linksys and the HP dv4 laptop) anyone can propose a solution?

First of all, you need to set file/printer sharing and share the printer. If you have already done this and can successfully transfer a file both ways between the two systems, ignore the information of networking at the end of this post. Then you download from the site Web of HP for Windows 7 64-bit print drivers.

    http://welcome.HP.com/country/us/en/support_task.html

Install the printer on Windows 7 computer and it should be considered during the installation procedure. If it isn't, then install the printer as a local printer instead. To do this:

Go to the computer to which the printer is connected. Note the name of the computer that you will get to the control panel > system > computer name. Now in the Panel, go to the printers. Find the printer in question, right-click, and then click Properties. Note the name of the share. Of course you must have already set up file sharing / print on all computers involved and share the printer.

Now, go to the remote computer to which you want to add the printer. Control Panel > printers > add printer

Click Add a local printer. Click on create a new port. The default value in the drop-down list box is Local Port. Don't change that. Click Next. A dialog box appears for you request that you enter a port name. Type in the \\FullComputername\SharedPrintername

ex: \\mycomputer\HPDJ (that's why you wrote the names of computer and printer in the first step)

Click Next. In the manufacturers list, select the correct printer manufacturer and the correct printer model in the Printers list. Under "do you want to use this printer as default printer select"Yes"(if you do!). and click Next. When asked to print a test page, select 'Yes', then finish.

If you have not already created your LAN file/printer sharing:

Problems sharing files between computers on a network are usually caused by 1) a misconfigured firewall or a firewall neglected (including a dynamic firewall in a virtual private network); or (2) inadvertently run two firewalls such as the firewall of Windows and a third-party firewall. and/or (3) do not have accounts to the same users and passwords on all computers in the workgroup. (4) tries to create actions where the operating system does not.

The Windows 7 network type must be on "Home" or "work". The type of Windows Vista network must be on "private". "Public" is for when you are connected to an Internet connection 'foreign' as an Internet café, at Starbucks or a hotel, etc. In Windows 7, go to control panel > everything in Control Panel > network and sharing Center. Click on "change the advanced sharing settings. You don't want to use the residential group unless you have all Windows 7 machines. If you do and you want to use the homegroup, see Windows 7 Help & Support. Otherwise, in sharing advanced:

Discovery of plug in the network
Open the files and printers sharing
Turn on the sharing section Public folder sharing
    Plug the password protected sharing

In Vista, turn on password protected sharing.

    A. configure the firewall on all machines to allow traffic to local area network (LAN) as being approved. With the Windows Firewall, turning on window file sharing and printer as the above will take care of that for you. In XP, you can run the Network Setup Wizard or just enable file sharing / print in the Windows XP firewall exceptions. If you are not running a third-party firewall or you have an antivirus/security with its own firewall component program, then you're fine.  With a third-party firewall, I usually set up the allocation of LAN with an IP address range. E.g. would be 192.168.1.0 - 192.168.1.254. Obviously you would substitute your correct subnet. Refer to the safety of any third party program or the user forums for how to correctly configure its firewall. Do not run more than one firewall. DON'T STOP FIREWALLS; CONFIGURE THEM CORRECTLY.

    (B) to facilitate the Organization, put all computers in the same workgroup. This is done from the System applet in Control Panel, the computer name tab.

    C. create the counterpart of the user accounts and passwords on all machines. You do not need to be logged into the same account on all machines and assigned to each user account passwords can be different; accounts/passwords just need to exist and to match on all machines. DO NOT NEGLECT TO CREATE PASSWORDS, EVEN IF ONLY OF SIMPLE. If you want a machine to boot directly to the desktop (a particular user account) for convenience, you can do this:

Start > Search box > type: netplwiz [Enter]
Click continue (or provide an administrator password) when you are prompted by UAC

Uncheck "users must enter a user name and password to use this computer". Select a user account to connect automatically by clicking on the account you want to highlight and press OK. Enter the password for this user account (when it exists) when you are prompted. Leave blank if there is no password (null).

XP - set up Windows to automatically connect (MVP Ramesh) -http://windowsxp.mvps.org/Autologon.htm

    D. Si one or more of the computers on your network are XP Pro or Media Center, turn off Simple file sharing (Folder Options > view tab).

    E. create share as you wish. In Windows 7 I usually share the Desktop of the user and the Public directory.

  • Unable to connect my laptop to the new wireless printer - error "installation failed" after entering my password/security key (WPA)

I just bought an Epson printer. I went through the installation process on my laptop but I get the "Failed to install" error message after entering my password/security key (WPA). I am with BT and my home hub I have "Wireless Key", "PIN WPS wireless" and "Admin password" - which is it? I tried all three and not joy. Help!

It is almost certainly looking for your "wireless key".

The WPS Pin is only used if the printer supports "Wi - Fi Protected Setup" - which it probably isn't, and the "Admin" password is used to access your BT home hub to make configuration changes.

In addition to identifying what wireless Epson printer you have, you can either

    • b changes to the configuration of the printer from a screen on the front or
    • (b) to connect to the printer by an Ethernet cable or
    • (c) to connect to the printer with a USB cable?

  • Unable to connect to laptop E1200 Vista.

I recently installed a router E1200 to a friend.  We have all two laptop computers HP running Vista.  Mine connects wireless ok but its not working.  Network and share on his watch Center a connection between the laptop and the router, and the router is identified correctly.  But the link is broken between the router and the internet.  I made a little troubleshooting before I ran out of time.

I have configured the router using the Cisco Connect cd.  Did not have a USB key, I went to every computer laptop and added a profile wireless to the router using the same Type of security (WPA Personal), Type of encryption (AES) and security key.  Mine connects, the sound is not.

IPCONFIG/ALL shows that the two laptops got IP addresses in the DHCP of the router range.  The list of DHCP clients on the router shows the same.  I tried to reboot the router, remove and add new profiles, the same results.  Apart from the IP addresses and mac the IPCONFIG/all are identical.

I won't be able to get there for a few days. I have a list of things to try and hoped that someone would have other suggestions.

His laptop is Vista SP1 and mine is at SP2 and other patches because I run automatic updates.  I intend to bring his laptop to the latest patch levels.  Our wireless adapter models are also different, so I'm going to download the latest drivers for its.

I'm going to update the firmware on the router if necessary and return the router to its default configuration.

I'll use Cisco Connect to reconfigure the router and change the SSID and the installation time keys create.

I'll set up two laptops using the setup button and see if they connect.

I read something about a broadcast flag DHCP between some routers and Vista problem.  There is a registry edit fix for the problem of Microsoft, but it does seem to apply in this case because the IP addresses are assigned correctly

Any help will be most appreciated.

Install the Atheros HP sp48070.exe patch solved the problem.

    Thanks for your help.
