WRT54G2 show me customers & xbox 360 lag issue

I just got a wireless router WRT54G2 about 2 days ago, and after having switched from Netgear, I badly due to find some settings.

I have 3 computers on my network and 1 Xbox 360. One is one laptop (WiFi), the other 2 desktops (directly connected).

They do not appear in the DHCP Clients. I get lag issues on my Xbox 360 and I want to see if its using the IP address I posted, since I'm portforwarding. I decided to go ahead and manually configure all computers to have a static IP address.

If the DHCP Clients cannot be resolved, is there another way to see that if the Xbox is using the IP I assigned it?

Triple post, oh gosh. I fixed it, well done linksys. I just updated the firmware, I just bought it didn't this necessary update already! But Portforwarding and UPnP are on, if all goes well no conflicts!

Thanks for your GENEROUS response. :]

Copy and beyond music in your cloud files, this makes select all your music and right click on the files you want to play or your xbox. Scroll down and select the option 'include in the library', and then click music.

As says Peteanon go to windows medial player and make sure that the name of your xbox is checked, and then click Next until you get a password to get into your local network share there are three pages. When you reach the last click on print password and instructions. Follow the instructions on how to configure a password sharing between your xbox and pc.

for the last two days that I had a connection problem after that I followed this method my music perfectly.

Note: I have an xbox 360 and I am sure that it will work with the xbox one, but it should make note.

  • Xbox 360 NAT issues?

My XBOX 360 Live connection was working fine a few days ago.  Now, I can't join parties or cats.  I was told that this is a NAT problem.  No one knows how to fix?  I have a WRT54G.

Who is your Internet service provider... ?

Try to reduce the MTU to 1365 and click on the 'Administration' tab and disable the UPnP option and click on save settings... Now, check the connection.

If this does not resolve the problem then try to update firmware of the router.

  • WRT160N - V3 Xbox NAT strict issue

    Xbox 360 NAT issues resolved! (WRT160N v3).

I followed the instructions in the link above, but also at least 20 other posts, but I always get strict NAT with a unique XBOX.  I think I tried all combinations and I can't understand why my situation is somewhat different.

Question - when I go to the STATUS, under the 'Internet connection', "IP address" tab, I see 192.168.1.64 (internal address).  I read somewhere that in other words, there is an another NAT also beyond my router. What is the problem?

This problem started when I replaced my (default) combination modem/DSL router by an old 2Wire-Homeportal-1000 s, with a brand new Motorola model 2210-02-1022 (modem only) of the AT & T store and combined with a WRT160N V3.

I tried all combinations of UPnP enabled, redirection port, serial port triggering and DMZ range.  I used a DHCP reservation to affect my Xbox a static IP address and checked that works very well.  But even in the DMZ with UPnP off, I get strict NAT.

I think I have to empty the Motorola + 160N and buy the current combo modem/router 2Wire AT & T, but I do not do that when I don't know for sure there will be more.

Others seem to have great success get this cleared up.  Can someone shed light on why none of these techniques work for me?

    Thank you

I want to thank you because after endless hours trying to remove the XBOX 360 strict NAT son - your advice finally put me on the right track.

With my particular combination: AT & T DSL, modem Motorola + WRT160N-3 - Bridge mode did not work.  As soon as I put the modem in Bridge mode, the light of the Internet on the front does not to come.  Maybe, if I called AT & T I could find a way around it.  This setting seems to affect the PPOe connection to the router instead of the modem, but some PPOe setting I use (including by providing the user ID and password, etc.) brings me an Internet connection.

What worked was in the modem settings.  There was no obvious parameter to enable/disable NAT, instead, it reads: "Let device LAN share Internet address?   Choice: "No, use the private IP address", "Yes, use the public IP address.  This is the power switch modem NAT and it must be set to Yes (default is NOT which is what created the 2nd NAT).

Even in non bridged mode, with the removed modem NAT, the NAT router and other work now setting.  I could put the Xbox successfully in in the demilitarized zone.  The idea is, in the STATE of the router tab, you see now a public IP address instead of the internal address of the modem.

WOW that was difficult and time consuming to get to this point!

  • New XBOX 360 S cannot connect with Linksys WRT54G2

I can't connect the XBOX 360 (the new model S) w / XBOX Live through my Linksys WRT54G2.

After automatic settings did not work, I tried a few manual instructions here:

    http://homecommunity.Cisco.com/T5/wireless-routers/WRT54G2-issues-when-it-s-plugged-in/m-p/207071?Qu...

    But it does not work.

Note: I have a laptop and an iPad that connect to the router fine.

    Ideas?

I went through and powercycled the modem cable, router and xbox in order... and now it works for some reason any.  I'm almost certain that this is the FIRST thing that I tried 2 hours ago.  So, I hope that the connection is not puff over time.  We'll see.

  • Xbox 360 cannot connect to WRT54G2 router network.

I just bought a new router WRT54G2 specifically use for xbox live. I put my fine computer, using an ethernet cable from the router to the computer. And I used the installation disk to create a network name and password. But when I use the wireless adapter to connect to my network, it does not. And even when I manually type the name and the WPA code, he says that it can't find the network. The settings I enabled SSID broadcast. So I don't know what to do from here. Any ideas?

    Who is your ISP?

Try the following settings on the router...

-Change the channel to 11-2 wireless, 462

-The tab Advance Wireless... Change the interval of tag to 75, the Fragmentation threshold to 2304, the RTS threshold to 2304

Now let's see if you can locate your wireless network and try to connect...

  • my USB doesn't register that my xbox 360 wireless receiver is plugged!

I have windows 7 installed on my computer. x 64.

I can't save the computer I plugged the receiver, when I plug the rceiver turns on (green LED flashes). This device does not appear in the device as an unknown device manager, the bubble (installation of new equipment) never come when I plugged in the device. I installed the driver of wireless controller from the microsoft hardware site.

I followed the instructions out of the many sites, most of the steps I just can't follow because everyone elses computer seems to show this "unknown device" in the Device Manager. So I can't manually install drivers into something that isn't really there.

This is a real piece of equipment of microsoft and has the hologram on the bottom, it is a controller for the PC black Wireless receiver that came with a disk configuration, v2.0.2. The installation program provided on the disc does not start as it as "microsoft this has blocked due to compatibility issues". I even tried to download an update of compatibility from the microsoft Download Center, but as I have to enter a code of genuine validation and the validation tool does not work can't do that either. I went directly from windows XP to windows 7, my computer is two days old.

If someone can provide me with any useful information I would appreciate it really, im starting to think I might have a broken unit, but I never thought it would still light up. I also tried all 6 available usb ports on my computer but it still does not detect the device as new hardware. I will quote once again as the only solution that I find online seems to be with regard to updating the "unknown device" in Device Manager, this unknown device does not exist in my device manager.

    Kind regards

    Tom

    Hi Tom,

    1. what compatibility update you tried to download?

    2. what was the code of genuine validation, you need to enter?

3 did you receive an error message when the validation tool has failed?
