"Scan to computer is enabled no longer."

After the upgrade to Windows 10 I continually get this message, "Scan to computer is no longer enabled.  I disabled "Scan to Computer" network printer and ran print and scan doctor and you have restarted the computer and the printer. I always get the sporadic message. It is very annoying.

Thanks for posting on the HP Forums!

I should be able to provide suggestions!  Looks like that a little a problem with the software and scanning to the message from the computer.  When you disable the scan of the computer should be a checkbox bellow the button.  The box should say something like "Automatically start scan of the computer" when I log on Windows Make sure that this box is NOT checked.

If the above suggestion already exists and you are still having the problem then I suggest that you uninstall the HP software. Once the uninstall is complete, it would be wise to perform a cleanup of the computer disk. A disk cleanup will improve the performance of the computer and remove the temporary files that may cause problems during the installation of the software. Once disk cleanup you must restart the computer and reinstall the HP software.

To uninstall the HP software, click here: uninstall the HP software

To perform a disk cleanup, click here: Windows Disk Cleanup (same steps for Windows 10) 8.1

To download the HP software, click here: HP Officejet 6500 has more full feature software and driver

If you please, after back and let me know how everything goes

  • HP Envy 5660: Win 10-5660 Envy - Scan of the computer is enabled no longer

I understand that this has been reported several times by others.  No proposed solution does work for me.  Periodically, I get the error message "Scan of the computer is no longer enabled.»  The network connection to the printer has been lost.  This started only after the upgrade to Windows 10.  This is a false message I still able to scan from the printer.

I uninstalled and reinstalled but false error notifications always appear.  I can easily disable scan of the computer in the management of the scanning and uncheck the box there.  There is a work around.

Is - this position of HP to use the autour work and waive the functionality of scanning directly from the printer?

    Thank you.

    Hello

Thank you for using the HP Forums.

The pop-up message occurs because the software is not able to detect the Scanner (because the Scan of the computer is activated).

Win 10 uses WSD and WSD is maybe not as reliable (where the popup).

Maybe you can try a TCP/IP port?  What could reduce disconnect it temporarily.

Can you try using a TCP/IP port?

    Creating a TCP IP port:

    1. print a Configuration Page to get the printer IPv4 address (you can also tap on the icon wireless on the front panel of your printer to obtain the IP address)
    2. on your PC, go to the Panel control, devices and printers, right-click the printer and on the left, click printer properties, select the Ports tab.
    3. click Add Port, select the Port TCP/IP Standard, then New Port and follow the instructions in the wizard.
    4. Enter the IP address of the printer.

This video resource will show you how do:

Create & port use TCP IP

Note that you can ALWAYS go back to the original port the HP software installed by selecting the HP port on the Ports tab (in the properties of the printer)

Let us know if it works.

Otherwise, if you do not use the function "Scan to Computer" regularly, you can always disable.

  • "The scan of the computer is enabled is no longer" false error

    Hello

I bought and installed a HP DeskJet 3521. It is configured for wifi connectivity to two computers on our home network. A laptop computer is 8 64-bit Windows. The other is Windows 7 Pro 64 bit.

The printer seems to work perfectly. However, the driver regularly (as in all the several minutes or so) pops up a message saying "the Scan of the computer is enabled is no longer" or something like that. It is apparent from the system tray. It fades after a few seconds. Otherwise the printer seems to work very well. This happens on two laptops.

Laptops are in the same room as the printer and the router. The signal strength is high.

Why did this message occurring and is there a solution for this?

    Thank you

It is very probably the same problem I had with the HP printers for years.  It happens when the printer goes into a power saving sleep state and falls of connectivity.  To resolve the issue, you have to walk on the printer and the power of the cycle.  It has NOTHING to do with your router or static/dynamic IP allocation.  It's the fault of crappy entiely firmware and HP software.  HP 'experts' are playing the same game of blame-the-other-manufacturer or blame the old user that HP has always played.

My current HP printer is the third HP sub-standard product I've owned... on three (Yes, I know, shame on me twice).  I've owned a high-end, expensive laptop which overheated during playback of a video to youtube and two printers which disengages automatically when they entered in the mode 'sleep'.  It will be the last HP product I already own...

  • OfficeJet Pro 8630: Remove computers in the menu "scan to computer" on my OfficeJet 8630

    Hello

I would like to know how to remove computers in the menu "scan to computer" on my OfficeJet 8630. Some of the computers on our network no longer exist, but they still appear in the menu display 8630 When you select the computer to send a scan to.

    Thank you

    Rex

    Hi Rex63,

Unfortunately, I see no way to delete these old connections in the printer menu.

However, it seems that power the printer off and on again removes network printers in the scan list if they are not connected to the network.

Looks like you could work in an office environment where the printer is still on, a reset of the base could do.

If this does not work, you can also try a "hard reset" in which the printer is turned off and unplugged for 60 seconds.

Finally, an update of the firmware is out for the Pro JO 8630 11/05/2016. If your printer does not have the auto-update feature enabled, you can try to update the firmware. You will find here the firmware update instructions.

I hope that one of these solutions help!

    Then, try the following:

    1. Of the printer, click on the right arrow / left and press the ion of the configuration of the printer.
    2. Select Network Configuration.
    3. Select direct Wireless Configuration.
    4. Ensure the Direct wireless is enabled and take one step of his password if such a value.

    Hello

With the help of HP Probook, with Windows 7 Professional.  64 bit.

My Photosmart 6510, I cannot scan documents on my laptop. I think that this only started happening recently when I started to use AVG PC Tuneup software, but I have district check if this may be the cause that the scanner is aunable to detect the computer.  I get the following message:

"No computer was found - make sure that the printer software is installed on your computer and that the 'Scan to Computetr' is enabled via the printer software.

I uninstalled the software and reinstalled again.  When reinstall it wonder "Enable scan" I agree.

Previously, the "Enable scan" message popped up whenever I have rebooted, but that has stopped so I think something may have changed.

    Hello

Scanning to a computer from the front panel to scan to a computer with Windows or Mac OS X, not a Tablet as I understnd of your information.

Since iPad you can scan by launching the scan from the HP AIO Printer Remote app, not the printer itself.

You can follow these steps to scan from a mobile device:

  • HP Envy 7645 e-all-in-one-seri: screen scanning / Scan to computer / select a computer

The screen scanning / Scan to computer / select computer

"Select computer" shows a computer that no longer exists... How can I remove the computer? Before getting rid of the computer, the printer software has been uninstalled.

Hello there! Welcome to the forums @SandyLY

I read on the way in which you no longer have a certain computer, however, the printer it still lists as a detection option of.

    1. I'd say trying to power cycle the network devices first, which can remove this PC in the list of printers:
Turn off the printer and the computer and unplug the router for 1 minute (do not press the buttons on the router).
Plug the router back in and wait another minute, turn on the printer and the computer.

Check the printer to see if the PC you have more is always listed or not.

    2. If the PC is still listed on the printer, check out this guide to set up the scan of the computer to the correct computer:

A "found no computer', 'Necessary connection' or 'unsuccessful analysis" Message appears for HP ENVY 5640, 5660, 7640 and Officejet 5740, 8040 e - all-in - One Printer Series

Good luck, I hope this helps

  • HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 - Scan to computer

    Hello

I recently bought a HP OfficeJet Pro 8600. Installation and configuration was successful. However, every minute or two, I get a notification of ball on the Windows task bar that says "Scan to computer do not enabled." I assume that this occurs because the printer is turned off after entering a sleep mode is not used for a specific period of time. I could be wrong about this, of course. But assuming that I'm not wrong, my question is how can I disable that irritating notifcation to appear every minute?

Thanks in advance for your help.

    1. open the control panel and write "Notification area icons" in the search:

    2. the Notification area options appears and select the option that says ""ScantoPCActivation " "

    3. Select the option that says 'Hide icon and notifications'.

    • Click OK to close the window.

  • OfficeJet Pro 8625: Scan to computer & printer HP Assistant

I got a new 8625 Pro of OfficeJet and struggled with the configuration of the analysis feature.  I ran the software print and Scan doctor, who said he fixed a few problems, and now I can finally scan my computer.  However, I still have a problem with scanning the computer to the printer.  When I try to scan to the computer, there is a message on the printer screen that indicates that this feature must be enabled in the Printer Wizard.  However, when I open the Printer Wizard and click on manage the scan to the computer, nothing happens - the software simply does not.  Other selections in the Printer Wizard seem to work very well - just not this one.

Hi thanks for dogster , for getting back to me!

I appreciate you trying these steps. I know that you have reinstalled in the past, but there is a specific set of measures, I would try.

I would say uninstalling the software of the printer.

Once it is uninstalled, I suggest you put your system in clean boot mode in the configuration of Microsoft.  You can do this by following this document: How to perform a clean boot in Windows.

Once the computer is in clean boot mode, I would suggest to reinstall the HP printer install wizard for Windows.

Please let me know how it goes!

  • HP Color LaserJet M477fnw MFP: Scan to computer button disappeared

Hello, I saw similar comments of the same issue, but none with a solution.  The closest is this: http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/LaserJet-Printing/How-to-fix-missing-quot-scan-to-computer-quot-touchsc...

Problem: We have a new printer that we have Setup.  During the installation process, on the touch screen, provided the message to "Scan to Computer".  We used the option to make sure it worked and took part in the computer we wanted.  We restarted the printer, and the option is now missing!  The option "Scan to Computer" has completely disappeared.  Where it was once a touchscreen button / option, no longer exists.

Printer: HP Color LaserJet M477fnw MFP

    OS: Mac OS X 10.8.xx

I downloaded the firmware update, but that doesn't work either.  I tried using the verification of updates of the touch screen of the printer, it can never connect.  I connected to the internet, I connected directly on a hard line, still no connection.  I literally just bought this printer yesterday, with a 2-year service plan, drove an hour to the next closest store that had it in stock and it gives me nothing else problems.

I have unplugged and waited a minute.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled the printer and the software from my computer.

    I'm out of ideas.

    Hello @gfrd3489

If you talked about scanning to the icon post from work or option after pressing the icon of the scan on the printer itself that one has been dropped by HP since she had so many questions with that like on some devices will only scan flat and not of ADF.

If you notice you still have other options such as scanning to USB key, scan to e-mail or scan in network on the printer folder of are next to the HP scanning app on the PC for windows and mac

Devices most recent are not supposed to have this option on the first place and the firmware and normal updates which will remove devices more alumni who have it

There were a few M477 which were sold to vendors when it first came out which was which, but as soon as he gets the first update will be deleted

    hope that clarifies the question
